Subverted Expectations (For Luncha)

Clara audibly snickered at Moon's comment of not knowing that many actresses. Even if she didn't win her match tonight, she seems to have definitely won a good friend in a really good person like Kamen Moon. And she'd take that win any day of the week for herself.

That said...Moon then mentioned quite a touchy subject for Clara, confused over the Shadow Lord's words:

"That...that's a long story..."

Upon thinking about the subject further, Clara decided to elaborate slightly:

"Let's just say...a lot of decisions in the beginning of my career almost forced me out of wrestling...and putting on this mask makes me forget a lot of them..."

Kamen Moon smiled, glad that things were warming so much between herself and GASTER. Moon would never have predicted that she and the 'Shadow Lord' could ever become anything approaching friends, or even just friendly, but this was an unexpectedly nice encounter.

However, when GASTER's mood took a turn, Moon's face fell a bit. Moon leaned in sympathetically, listening as GASTER talked about long stories and early career decisions, and heard clearly the reticent tone in her voice.

"I see," Moon said, nodding. "You know, my mask helps me put a lot of things aside, too. I mean, in a different way, probably. I don't think I could ever be a 'Shadow Lord,' like you. But, it helps me forget things when I'm out in front of a crowd, a lot of stuff that hurt. It kinda makes me feel like I could be a hero for the people watching. Not ... just a girl, you know?" Moon spoke earnestly, feeling guilty about prying, but wanting to reward GASTER's honesty with some of her own.

"Oh...heh, well, despite me being a villain, and you a heroine, looks like we do have this in common!", GASTER would shake away the thoughts of her early career away, commenting on Moon's words.

"Thank you very much, Moon...F-for talking with me, I mean! U-um. If you have time outside the ring, perhaps we could meet in the gym, and spar some time?"

Kamen Moon smiled. It had felt good to earn her first victory in the ring tonight, especially against an opponent as impressive as the mighty GASTER. And while it had been strange to learn that the Shadow Lord was nothing like she'd originally thought, somehow, this seemed a bit better.

"It was my pleasure," Kamen Moon said, bowing her head respectfully. "And I'm glad that we could meet like this. Thanks for coming to seek me out! I'd be honored to spar with you, sometime. Or spot you in the gym. Or anything, really! It's not every day that someone gets the chance to train with a real life Shadow Lord!" Kamen Moon smiled and winked at her former opponent, holding her head high. She wanted to ask more questions, detecting a little more under the surface of what GASTER was sharing with her, but the heroine would respect her privacy. For now, it was more than enough that the two could go from vicious rivals to tentative friends!

"Awesome!", GASTER would say with a big smile under her mask. This has gone even better than she had anticipated, managing to make a friendly rival for herself in form of the Heroine of the Moon!

"The LAW Website has information like phones and emails for workers. I'll make sure to add you from there! Till next time, Heroine of Moon! Mwahahahahaha!"

With her signature laugh, the Shadow Lord would leave her newest rival in the doctor's office, needing a big good-night's sleep after a hard fought match such as this...

"Oh, okay, great!" Kamen Moon said, beaming. "I hope to hear from you soon!" Moon's eyes widened beneath her mask, however, when GASTER burst into her signature laugh. Not that she was scared, necessarily, as much as being impressed once again with how well the masked Shadow Lord played her part!

Still grinning, Moon returned her attention to the medical staff. She let the doctor finish her work, checking over Moon's shoulder so that she could give the masked heroine a clean bill of health. Even as she did, though, Moon kept thinking about her new, unexpected friendship. Moon was visibly chuffed. Telling herself that this was the mark of a hero. Not just defeating villains in the ring, but being a heroine to everyone, even on the outside of the arena. A heroine, and a friend ...

Not that she could really tell anyone that she was friendly with a villainous Shadow Lord, of course. That might not be good for GASTER's in-ring rep, either, now that she thought of it. Still, Kamen Moon had ended the night with her first in-ring professional victory, a growing fan base, and a new friendly rival in the form of the experienced Shadow Lord! Regardless of how her shoulder might sting over the next few days, she couldn't have asked for a much better night!
