“It’s not enough to simply do something. If you’re going to do anything… make sure to do it fabulously.”
It was Lilly Becker’s motto, and she remembered saying it fondly with a soft smile on her face as she looked out at her peers in her sorority. Her best friends all ran up to her, hugging her and nearly making her drop her Solo cup. She giggled and held it up high. “Now let’s party like the fabulous ladies I know you all are!” They all cheered for her. It was an incredible moment, capping off what was a culmination of her hard work. She was graduating with her degree in psychology, and she could be the success she convinced herself she could always be.
From a troubled childhood, Lilly Becker always found it hard to find who she was. She was a dork, a nerd, a loser, and anything else that anyone could call her. And one day she hit her breaking point: October 2, in Ninth Grade. She had an ugly breakdown in school, and that continued when she went home. Lilly Becker wasn’t happy with herself or who she was. She didn’t excel at anything, because she never tried. She didn’t have many friends, also because she didn’t try.
But then Lilly found a strength within herself. She dug deep down to rip out a potential that was hidden. And she could be like those she idolized on TV, in movies, and in real life. She could be like them if she tried hard. She just needed to try to be better. And she didn’t just try to be better, she became obsessed with it.
Lilly Becker signed up for sports. She joined study groups. She even tried signing up for theater and choir. She put her all into making her school work better than it’s ever been, going from a C student to straight A’s. And she made time to make friends. She started a diet, learned how to do her make-up, and she worked out in the time she had to spare. Lilly Becker had transformed, and as she found more friendships and began to receive praise for her hard work, it only encouraged her more.
And then one of her best friends had only one word to describe her: “Fabulous.” And Lilly Becker felt fabulous. It was a word that she could grab ahold of and keep holding onto tightly. It was a word that when she was going one hundred percent, she went to one hundred and ten percent. It was taking her personality, casting aside what anyone may think, and sending herself into being so distinctly her that people couldn’t help but gravitate to her.
Lilly Becker was fabulous enough to go to college, fabulous enough to go get her doctorate, fabulous enough to help people with their mental health problems, and certainly fabulous enough to become a professional wrestler.
Amateurish at first, Lilly’s obsession became greater when she could mix her fabulous personality with a competitive sport. It was one sport that she could harness her energy and stand out. And when LAW took notice, she made the life decision to leave everything behind and come to Japan, where she didn’t doubt for even a moment she could succeed there as well.
Because when Lilly Becker decided on something, she made it work. It never mattered what exactly it was, she would do it, and she would be fabulous doing it as well.
Dr. Lilly Becker had grown into a fine psychiatrist, and one of the leading ones in Japan for any English-speaking folks residing there. But she had become a grand professional wrestler, Doctor Fabulous, now about to compete for the most prized title in LAW.
With a white doctor’s jacket on, Doctor Fabulous took a last look in the mirror. Adjusting her glasses a bit, she gave a little smooch to her reflection before heading to the stage. It was time to do something fabulous. The opening to Dr. Feel Good by Rania played and she stepped out onto the stage as the strobe lights danced on the stage.
Doctor Fabulous lived for these moments as she held out her arms, basking in the loud cheers from the crowd, a wide smile on her face as her theme song continued. They had saved the Wrestling Professor for their Los Angeles show, being a native of Long Beach which made her a SoCal girl the crowd was thrilled to cheer for. And this ovation made her feel alive, more than anything else. And she found the nearest camera, walking over to it and saying, “We’re just getting started. The Doctor is in… it to win it,” said Doc Fab, winking at the camera before starting down the ramp she obliged some fans with high fives and took a moment to do a spin towards the bottom and posed for a sultry selfie with a fan before laughing and heading to the ring.
The Good Doctor would then walk up the ring steps and towards the center of the apron, hooking one leg over the middle rope and taking off her glasses, biting on the end of them as she leaned back further, and further, and further, showing off her curves before wheeling around to inside the ring and sauntering across the length of it to head to the other set of ropes. She would then stand on the bottom rope, gripping the top rope with both hands and leaning forward with a seductive expression as she bounced on it.
Finally, Doctor Fabulous went back to the center of the ring and threw off her jacket with a dramatic display before running a hand along her side in her ring gear, looking positively thrilled to be competing. She would just need to await her opponent as she walked to the corner, doing some last minute stretches as she calmly waited for her foe to make her entrance.
