Blue Angel and a Shadow Demon

As she heard the word "did" from Kay's lips, the pain in Clara's body suddenly became a secondary concern...for now her heart was aching like wildfire. Were her feelings for her gone?

Once Kay started to explain things, things became clearer on her feelings. Clara tried to interrupt the blunette at points:

"Wait...Hang on...h-hang on..."

But Kay couldn't hear her. So Clara waited until her explanation was done. She could tell she was starting to bottle the feelings towards her...and if she didn't act now, it would be all gone.

"No...no, Kay, you misunderstand. I-I love you. Nono...not a platonic one. I...I love you. Maybe it wasn't at first sight...but as I got to know you, from that stormy night onward, I had just as much of a crush on you. I...I just...I don't know, when you tried to kiss me, I thought of doing it back, maybe...but my love life was a whirlwind at that point. My first...well, we weren't officially girlfriends, but she left wrestling and permanently moved to focus on her career. Then things with...well, another Clara, didn't work out quite as well. I just...I don't know, I was scared of going for it right then and there on that night. I wasn't sure why I was mistrustful of a relationship at that point...maybe it was just I didn't trust myself to properly maintain it...I don't know whether I've done the wrong thing that night, but please tell me...do I still have a chance? To be with you, I mean..."

"No...no, Kay, you misunderstand. I-I love you. Nono...not a platonic one. I...I love you... .. ... "

Kay had somewhat of a bewildered look upon her angelic features when Clara began to speak in response. Kay had all but put her cards on the table and shown her hand for Clara to read. Kay was merely waiting for Clara to either say everything would be alright and they could move past it... or that perhaps this was as far as the friendship could go with such emotions hanging over the two of them. Kay was steeling herself, bracing for what Clara was going to say... dreading what would come next, silently praying to any entity that would listen that she and Clara would remain friends after all was said and done.

When Clara began to respond... her words were not anticipated, and Kay wondered if she had even heard what Clara was saying correctly. Her head tilted as she began to digest what Clara initially said, and though Clara continued to talk, her voice became white noise as Kay continued to focus on those first few words she declared. She looked downwards briefly, then back to Clara who was still talking, catching only the end of her words...

"..have a chance? To be with you, I mean..."

There was a moment of pause as Kay gazed upon Clara, as a silence befell between the two... so quiet that a pin would be heard dropping against the ground. Kay was a hard woman... behind the beautiful looks, the slender build and the casual smile she was able to form... Kay had been through it all and it had hardened her to her very core. Ever since being in a gang, ever since serving hard time in prison. She had been beaten almost every day until she learned to fight for herself and deter attackers, this had spread beyond prison and even into the world beyond. She had roughed the streets through the sweltering summers and the hard winters, fending off everything and anything life through at her. Kay had survived so many hardships, and she had done it all without ever once complaining... without crying out or even shedding a single tear, even when she was at her lowest.

Her life had been nothing but hardship, from the day her parents died in the horrendous car crash... to being shunned by what remained of her family and forced into an orphanage... to living the life she did now after straying so far for a time, paying the price for past mistakes despite how often overwhelming it all felt. Never once did Kay let it beat her, let it dominate her nor define her. Not a complaint... not a single tear ever shed through all of it.

So why was it now after all this time that she was crying?

Kay witnessed her own vision begin to blur, feeling her lower lip quiver when the reality of what Clara said finally dawned on her. She had to bite down on her lower lip to surpress it all from getting the better of her, but already she could feel a wetness roll down one of her cheeks, prompting Kay to wipe the first tear that had fell in what felt like a lifetime. It was not a tear of sadness however... it was something more joyous than that, and it quite frankly overwhelmed Kay. Those emotions she had kept at bay for so long... they finally broke through...

"Heh..."

It was all Kay could do when she tried to speak... a little laughter and even that caught within her chest. She wiped her face with the back of her arm, feeling stupid, but overjoyed more than anything as she began to digest Clara's words. Clara was probably the only one in the world to see Kay smile the way she did, for she was the only one who could get her to do so, and right now she was beaming... looking gorgeous despite her teary eyes. Kay was fighting a losing battle as she wiped her other eye, but slowly she shifted from the chair and moved towards Clara.

Gently she placed her hands upon Clara's soft cheeks, leaning over her as she lay upon the bed. She had no words for her just yet... Kay knew if she tried to speak right now, nothing good would come out. She would likely just burst into tears or say something stupid... so instead Kay would let her actions speak instead of her words.

Slowly, Kay leaned closer, coming to do what she had long desired ever since that night she stayed at Clara's. Softly she leaned in, letting her lips slowly brush against Clara's, teasing her lips ever so briefly with her own, before she moved in just that little bit more, giving Clara a soft and near delicate kiss upon her lips. Kay let her eyes close as she did so, drinking in the moment, enjoying the feel of Clara's lips against her own. Kay did not know how long had passed... she did not care, but eventually she pulled away softly, keeping an angelic smile upon her lips as she looked upon Clara, taking her in up close and admiring just how stunning she was.

"I think you're chances are... average at best." Kay whispered with a soft and alluring tone... always never being able to slip in some jest when around the woman she loved.

Despite everything Clara has endured the previous day, nothing compared to the silence from Kay as she finished her explanation. For several long seconds that seemed to get longer with each passing one, the silence held...

Clara looked back at everything that had happened to her throughout her life, her training, her early career, lovely times with Asuka and Clara Kennedy, her loss in the tournament, her hiatus, to now. Clara felt like she could give up most of those if it meant breaking this silence and getting an affirmation from Kay towards her...

The silence stood as Kay started crying. Clara opened her mouth in surprise, but held as Kay herself noticed...and was the one to break the quietness in the room with a small laugh. She finally made her move, warmly placing her hands on Clara's cheeks. Before she would understand what was happening, Kay leaned in, teasing a kiss at first...before committing, both ladies enjoying the moment of warmth in each other's arms, as Clara's hands lightly wrapped around the Blunette in a light hug. She has kissed and was kissed many times before...and yet it was this time that was truly the best, the warmest kiss she has ever had.

Once it was broken, Clara laughed at Kay's quip:

"I'll take those then..."

It felt perfect. It was everything Kay could have imagined when she kissed Clara upon the lips. To have something that was once only a fantasy turn to reality was something else entirely. Kay feared it was too good to be true, that she would suddenly wake up and Clara would still be sleeping on the hospital bed. It never happened however... and as near light headed as Kay began to feel, she knew this was as real as it gets.

To see the smile on Clara's face when she pulled her own back after the kiss made it all the more worth it. She had witnessed Clara's smile many times, always able to get her beaming when in her presence, but somehow now it felt like there was so much more to it. It was one thing to make Clara smile with little jests and her usual antics... but right now Kay could see that the beautiful woman she had fallen for was genuinely happy. There was no other way to describe it.

Kay herself had never felt such joy herself. Clara always had a way to make her feel more upbeat about herself... but with the realisation that Clara shared her feelings, Kay was overjoyed. She took in all of Clara's angelic features when she laughed at her little jest, whilst her own cheeks began to hurt from her own constant smiling as a cute giggle escaped from her own lips. She placed her head gently against Clara's forehead, feeling her arms wrap around her slender form to keep her close.

By now, Kay was already upon the bed with Clara, sliding her own arms ever so delicately around Clara's soft and alluring form. The two took a long moment to simply gaze into each other's eyes... before Kay softly leaned in once more, gently placing her lips against Clara's for another soft and longing kiss. This time she had no intent on pulling away, enjoying the feel of Clara against her own form, enjoying this moment of total bliss as it felt like a dream had come true. For now... the world beyond simply did not exist. Nothing else mattered right now... just that Clara was finally hers.
