And lo, Sister Chastity did tarry in the place behind the veil, where wrestlers prepare their hearts for battle. And she fell upon her knees in the secret place, and lifted up her voice in prayer. She gave thanks unto the Lord, for He had brought her thus far; and she did beseech the Voice, saying, “Grant unto Thy servant wisdom and strength, that I may stand in the midst of the ungodly and not be moved.”
Now it came to pass that she was alone.
For from the day the Sisterhood came unto LAW, Sister Chastity, Sister Lucia, and Sister Prudence did go forth together, as one body, spreading the word, rebuking the wicked, and bearing witness to the Light. They were as three cords bound together, not easily broken.
But on this night, misfortune did hinder them. For Lucia and Prudence were delayed upon the road, and the adversary had stirred up trouble in the land, and the way was made long.
Yet Chastity was not dismayed, neither did her heart grow faint. For the Voice spake unto her, saying, “Fear not, for I am with thee; be not dismayed, for I am thy God. Thou shalt go into the ring, and thou shalt prevail, though thou goest alone.”
And she rose up from her knees, her face set like flint. She girded herself in faith and righteousness, and walked the path that was before her, rejoicing. And thus did Sister Chastity go forth into the arena, alone in flesh, but not in spirit—for the Lord her God was with her.
And behold, the veil was drawn back, and Sister Chastity came forth.
She descended the ramp with solemn step, and the sound of her psalm was heard behind her—a song of war and sanctification. And the multitudes beheld her coming, and their hearts were divided. For some among them looked upon her with lustful eyes, desiring her form and hungering for the flesh, for their minds were set upon carnal things. Yet others hardened their hearts, and lifted their voices in scorn, for they feared the light she bore, and the Word she preached. Yea, they did cry aloud with boos and jeers, for the Sisterhood was as a thorn in the side of their unholy ways.
But Chastity heeded them not. For her ears were turned toward Heaven, and her heart sought not the approval of man, but of the Lord Most High.
And it came to pass that she entered into the ring, and went unto her corner. There she fell to her knees before the turnbuckle, and clasped her hands in reverence. And she spake not aloud, but within her soul she communed with the Lord, offering a final prayer before the hour of trial.
And she was still, and she was steadfast. For though the battle was near, her faith was nearer still.
Sister Chastity is ready.
