Mephistopheles was a whole lot of things, most of them evil or malevolent, but “stupid” was definitely not one of them. He clearly saw through the Snake Queen’s intentions to lull him into a false sense of security so she could ambush him, a classic trap used by ring villains that the clown demon already knew all too well
The Heartbreaker looked him up and down, taking in his exotic clown costume that he’d designed himself, while asking if being a harlequin was his gimmick. “Let’s say it is, buuuuuuuuuuuut with a few differences. And I’m guessing yours is being a daddy’s or mommy’s little girl who thinks she can get away with anything without consequences,” he replied playfully to his opponent, as a sort of introduction.
He noticed a certain unease in Vivy’s movements, as if she were pretending to want to treat him well; it was clear that the mere presence of the demon in the establishment greatly unsettled the place’s manager. The way she held her arms and fiddled with her clothes revealed her disdain for her surprise opponent.
It was very clear that the queen wanted to see the Chaos Harlequin destroyed and humiliated tonight. All because of the mere fact that you could compare them just a little bit in the way they acted so theatrically and strangely in the ring and in their outfits in front of the audience.
And she said what was obvious and what everyone was already expecting: that she hated him. She said this while giving him a look of pure hatred, which the demon returned with his own eyes full of the same emotion as he approached his rival. His smile was now one of utter malice, and he said mockingly, “At last we agree on something, though we differ a bit on the proportions,” in response to his rival’s statement.
And just as they were about to fight, the woman with the wild hair changed her expression and pointed out something unsightly on his face, specifically on his nose. The devil was in shock for a few seconds. He had just checked himself in the mirror, and everything had been fine. Was it powder left over from his performance, or was it smudged makeup, or what? He turned around, putting his back to his opponent, to see what had happened to him.
