Student-Teacher Workout

Candy Cane hadn't been slouching over the years, while she had done some overall wrestling style moves in her time in Rumble Roses, some suplexes and the like, some which she had picked up from her matches, a few from her matches specifically with Miss Spencer herself, whom Becky remembered was quite the suplex expert...as she nailed Miss Spencer with that backdrop suplex, she thought back to the amount of pain in the neck wrestling against her teacher had been back in the day.

The redhead would push up to her knees and saw how the blonde woman stumbled backwards...ending up in the corner, a smirk appeared on Candy Cane's face as she would rise up to her feet, it looked as if she had taken her former teacher completely off guard with how well executed her suplex had been. Rolling her shoulders...Candy Cane decided to stomp over towards Muriel, she'd try to lean down and wrap her arms around the older woman's thighs....lifting with her legs, she'd try to lift Muriel up onto the top turnbuckle and seat her there.

Next the punk-rocker would try to grab a hold of Miss Spencer's arm and twist it, before then stepping onto the ropes to the right of Muriel, climbing up to the middle rope before using it to springboard bounce off and twist, as she tried to perform a top rope arm drag to launch Muriel from her perched position towards the center of the ring!

You would be hard pressed to tell it now, what with her back against the corner and her heavy breathing, but Muriel was currently loving all of this.

Though it was just a spar, this was like stepping into a time machine, engaging with a past that seemed so distant. While Ms. Welsh had changed somewhat since they last shared a ring, many of the cues remained the same - the look in her eyes, the arrogant sway in her steps, her bold attitude. It warmed her heart in a way she had not expected.

That was not say that she would be distracted by such nostalgia, however. She struggled to regain her focus as Ms. Welsh came in and lifted her up, forcing her to sit on the top turnbuckle - an odd position, but one that she saw the sense of in the next moment.

Always the daredevil, Ms. Welsh, leaped up and used the ropes to send Muriel careering out of the corner, turning an arm drag into a more devastating move than usual. She came down hard, rolled to her front, and began to push her wayup, but she was far slower about it than she would’ve liked, slowed by her spinning world.

Unique, innovative, bold. Ms. Welsh was still a prodigy in the ring, it seemed. Despite herself, Muriel could not help but feel some pride.

Candy Cane's actions were as daring as they always were, she was quite the daredevil still and she didn't show any signs of stopping that. She hoisted Muriel up onto the top turnbuckle, putting her up there high on a perch for but a couple of seconds...as she had already begun her plan to bring her old teacher down to the mat! She climbed up the middle rope and with a bounce would springboard off the ropes! Adding momentum to her arm-drag!

She flung herself backwards and sent Muriel careering out and down onto the canvas! Becky hit the mat as well but rolled through the motion and up onto her knees! She released a couple of huffs of air as she began to push up to her feet, seeing how the older woman started to push herself up.

"Not gonna let you teach." Candy Cane spoke out, confidence fueling her motions as she would try to throw herself down on top of Muriel, trying to force her weight onto her Teacher's back and try to pin her down to the canvas on her front. She'd try to scramble on top to a seated position on Ms. Spencer's back as she sought to grab the arms of Muriel, trying to force the blonde woman's arms up over her knees before she would aim to bring her hands in under the chin of the fellow former Rose...trying to lock in a Camel Clutch submission hold on.

Dizzy, dazed, Muriel’s challenge now was to find some semblance of control before it was too late. In this, she might have been fortunate. The Candy Cane she had known could be rough, dangerous, unpredictable even, but she did love to gloat when she had the chance. More than a few times, Muriel had used that tendency to get the upperhand on her, to recuperate while she enjoyed her moment. Was she still falling into the same traps?

No, it seemed, she was not. Ms. Welsh followed up on her attack with aplomb, leaping on her back and keeping her pinned down. Though Muriel could see a Camel Clutch rearing its ugly head, she was certainly not in a position to do anything about, and all she could do was vainly struggle as her opponent pulled her head back, further and further, until she was trapped at an awkward angle.

A camel clutch, and a well-applied one, too. Muriel groaned and writhed in the hold, neither of which accomplished much of anything. No, her only chance was to push, and push she did, forcing them step by step to the ropes, hoping she could get close enough to grab the bottom one and break this torturous hold.

Becky had managed to take Muriel's back, taking the controling spot in this spar and now she was working her into that camel clutch! She forced the blonde woman's arms up over her knees as she would start to pull back on that chin of Muriel, she had to keep working over her former teacher to make sure she stayed down. Though this wasn't an official match, she still wanted to show Miss Spencer what she was capable of!

Though as she should have expected, Muriel wasn't just going to take the punishment. She felt how the older woman began to push and force them towards the ropes...ever slightly inching forward until they were in reach of the ropes! As Muriel grabbed onto the bottom ropes though, Becky considered if rope breaks even counted in a spar, she held the hold for a couple of seconds more...before she finally would relent! Releasing the hold as she would step back away from Muriel.

"Phew...how’s that Teach? Feeling warmed up yet? Those old bones haven't been worn out have they?" Candy Cane gloated a bit, the successful Camel Clutch and moment of control clearly having increased her mood and confidence...as well as cockiness.

Thank goodness for yoga. Muriel had been dabbling in it for a few years now, ever since she left Rumble Roses and hit the road. Benikage had suggested it as a way to stay limber while she was out of the ring, and while she oftentimes found the woman to be a bit on the sillier side, in this case, she gave nothing but sage advice. Those exercises had kept her whole, mind, body, and spirit, and they paid dividends now, as Ms. Welsh sought to fold her in half.

It kept her whole, long enough for her to grab the ropes and latch on. With no referee about, there was nothing stopping Ms. Welsh from milking the hold, other than her good will - and, thankfully, that was more than enough. She breathed a haggard sigh of relief as her former student let go of the hold and gave her the space to rise once again.

Muriel laughed - a harsh, rueful laugh - as she rose up, not bothering to hide her smile as she regarded her student. ”I’m glad to see you’ve retained at least some of the lessons I taught you, Ms. Welsh. But you needn’t worry - these ‘old bones’ have more than a few surprises left for you.”

To prove her point, she moved in on Ms. Welsh again, looking for another grapple. However, instead of locking horns once more, she dipped down, reached out, and tried to seize the woman’s leg, hoping to catch with her a single-leg takedown and bring her to the mat.

Candy Cane gave her old teacher the room to get up to her feet and catch her breath. Had this been an official match then she probably wouldn't have been so magnanimous towards even Miss Spencer. Though this was a spar, no need to go all out against her teacher and beat her down while she was getting up. She would raise her arms as she was feeling fairly confident right now, perhaps she could take down Muriel in this spar and shake off her string of bad luck when it came to matches here and now. It would serve as a confidence boost for sure.

She stepped forward, the punk-rocker looking to lunge forward and go for a grapple which seemed to be what the blonde had intended as well! Though Becky read it all wrong, instead Muriel ducked down and went in to grab her leg! The arms of Candy Cane whiffed through the air as they locked up with nothing at all, she released a sudden yelp as her balance was taken out from under her and she was thrown down onto the mat on her back with that single-leg takedown! "Grwu!" She grunted, the Canadian scrambled to twist and turn but Muriel had her in her clutches now!

Muriel’s technical skill had always been a confounding factor for Ms. Welsh, with her often being able to outperform the redheaded blond in that area. While the young woman’s brawling prowess was greater than anyone shy of Aisha, she tended to falter in all matters technical, and it was there that she could be overwhelmed, especially by someone with the skills that Muriel possessed.

Such would be the case today. The single-leg takedown was the simplest of moves, but, properly executed, it could set up a great many things. While it was clear her student had improved in many ways, there were still gaps in her offensive game that her student could exploit. Some things would never change.

Working quickly, Muriel spun about and flipped Ms. Welsh onto her stomach. She pulled the leg up, trapped it between her thighs, then proceeded to lie down on her foe's back and settle in. From there, she reached around, attempting to pull her into an STF.

Becky was annoyed she had been taken down by such a simple move! She hated that she had gotten full of herself and it had cost her it, or rather she hated that she hadn't imagined Miss Spencer would take her down like that! It was frustrating, she always neglected the fundamentals...gritting her teeth she struggled underneath the bigger woman, trying to free herself but the grip Muriel had on her leg kept her unable to escape. Instead she had to go along with the whims of the older woman!

She felt herself being rolled over, as she flopped onto her front with a soft grunt. She began to try and crawl, but quickly found her leg pulled in between Muriel's thighs and her head then seized. She was pulled into an STF as Miss Spencer's weight pressed down against her back and forced her flat against the canvas. "Nmmgh!" She winced out as she felt the hold locked in firmly!

Candy Cane shot her hands up to grab at those arms, trying to pry them off her!

Tsk, tsk. Some things truly never changed.

Ms. Welsh was not, by any means, an unskilled wrestler. She was gifted pugilist, and that recklessness which made her such a chore to teach aided her well in combat, allowing her to take risks that few others would dare dream of with a sane mind. But on the mats, with the technical side of wrestling, careful thought counted so much more than bravado. In this, Muriel was the superior.

She kept the hold locked well, even as Ms. Welsh struggled beneath her, but she would be lying if she said the struggles were not becoming tiresome. Fortunately, she had a way to deal with such problems.

Instead of abandoning the hold altogether, she altered it, leaning forward and bringing her arm around Ms. Welsh’s neck instead. The STF became an STS, a sleeperhold variation, trading pain for the threat of a knockout.

”There is no shame in knowing when you are beaten, Ms. Welsh.” She grumbled through her gritted teeth. ”Surrender!”
