Sheila Morgan had a match in less than five minutes, but you wouldn’t know that to see her at the moment. Normally, she would be hanging out around the curtain, hyping herself up, maybe doing some stretches and getting in a few quick gulps of water. Typical warmup stuff, hyping herself for whatever crazy match she was about to get into.

Instead, she was stomping her way backstage, nearly knocking over a few stagehands in her path, a snarl on her lips and a glare in her eyes. A piece of paper was clenched tight in her hand, and she seemed to grip it tighter with every step, until she finally came to her destination - the production trailer, where the show for the evening was being coordinated, the nerve center for the entire production.

She stopped right in front of the door, raised a fist, and proceeded to pound away, hammering it with a series of rapid strikes that were likely meant to be some form of knocking. ”Oi, open up! I need a word!” She struck it again and again, rumbling the entire trailer. ”Open the fuck up! Open up, open up, open-”

The door flung open and a small, mousy looking woman with headphones came bursting out, nearly falling flat on her face and coming close to taking a knock on the head from Sheila as she did. She looked about, frazzled, then stared her way with wide eyes. ”What? What’s wrong, what’s the emergency?”

”This!” Sheila wagged the paper her way and pointed straight at her name on it. ”This is the problem!” The woman just looked back and forth from Sheila to the paper with furrowed brows, clearly not seeing what the trouble was. A little explanation was needed, then. Okay. ”It’s the match card.”

”I…can see that, yes.”

”And you guys have me down for a match.”

”I saw that, too, yes.”

”A fucking standard match.” Sheila spat the italicized word out like it was the only profanity in that sentence. ”I’m a goddamn hardcore wrestler. What’s this fresh shite?”

The woman just looked at her like she was crazy for a moment, shaking her head, before she threw up her hands. ”So…so what? It’s just a match.” She took a step back into the trailer, and looked like she might go all the way before Sheila stepped closer and put her foot in the door. ”We’re putting a new talent in with you today, and we don’t like starting them off with hardcore matches. You’ll be fine.”

”The fuck I will.” Sheila crumbled up the match card and threw it over her shoulder to an unknown fate. ”I didn’t come across the ocean to do bathroom break standard matches. We got a thousand newbies hanging around this place, green-as-grass rookies out the arse, get them for it. You guys didn’t hire me for boring crap.”

”We didn’t hire you to lose all the time, either.” The woman gave Sheila’s foot a little kick, just enough to clear it from the door. ”Now, if you’ll excuse me.”

Sheila had more to say - a ton more - but she held back on it, too flabbergasted to get the words out before the doors closed. True, she hadn't been setting the world on fire since her debut, but she’d had good matches, pushed herself to the limit, gave the crowd a good show…just not enough to put anything in the W column. Yet. She didn’t think it would be that big of a deal, but here she was okay.

”Okay, fuckers.” She gave the production trailer a good kick, then did an about-face and went on the warpath in the opposite direction. ”Want a win? I’ll give you a goddamn win.”

Sheila was in the ring a few minutes later, getting all the kinks out in the corner while her theme music finished playing.

96 Quite Bitter Beings

She tossed her jacket out of the ring and let it fall to the floor below, not caring too much about keeping it clean at the moment. For now, her vision was focused on the ramp, waiting for whoever her opponent was. She hadn't paid any attention to who she was set to face, and she didn’t much care - whoever it was, they were about to get steamrolled. Sheila was in no mood to screw around, and it’d suck for them, but they were about to pay the price.

Re: Kuroi Kamakaze vs. Sheila Morgan - Chaotic Elements

The resounding crack of Kuroi's fist against glass shattered the still silence of the backstage locker room. Shards of what had once been a mirror rained onto the cold ceramic floor. Kuroi remained motionless with her hand still burrowed into the drywall, her furrowed brow the only indication of her seething anger. Well that, and the oozing blood beginning to drip down her fingertips. She watches as the dark red drops seeped from the small cuts in her hand and stained the tiles below - a small price to pay in order to properly vent out her frustration over tonight's booking.

She had been told... no, she had been promised that LAW was a league filled to brim with glorious bouts of unimaginable proportions, where blood and gruesome violence were the norm, where victory was achieved only when your opponent lay decrepit and broken at your feet. But tonight' stipulations gave her no such leeway. There were restrictions, regulation - rules that would dictate how she could fight.

Kuroi couldn't have imagined a more insulting welcome to the league if she tried. They might as well have asked her to put on 16oz gloves and play pattycake with her opponent instead.

She had half a mind to walk out of this locker room this very instant, to lurk back into the shadowy realm of fighting from which she emerged. The underground circuit had problems of it's own, but at least she was never told her to pull her punches! The memories of the extreme brutality she inflicted upon her opponents brought a cruel smile to her face, only for it to falter at the distant rumble of roaring crowds.

Kuroi's fist slowly retracted from it's position in the wall, a small impact crater now left in it's place. She quietly picked out the shards of glass between her knuckles, all the while the cheers of the arena picked up in intensity and volume. Ah yes, her opponent must be making her entrance. Using fighter's tape as gauze, Kuroi slowly bandaged up the wounds before strapping on her fingerless gloves. As the distant sounds become louder and louder, Kuroi slowly began to remember why she had bothered joining this league in the first place:

She had something to prove, that she was the greatest fighter to ever grace the Earth! She had been convinced of that much ever since she was old enough to formulate the thought. But they - the world - they didn't even know she existed. It would be paramount to a grave sin to hide such prodigal talent and abilities from so many eyes. Plus, there was no denying that the spectacle of it all had always been intriguing to her, the chance to engulf the world of pro wrestling with a fighting spirit she was sure had never graced this ring before.

"Very well, I'll play their little game" Kuroi muttered to herself as she left the locker room and she made her way to the curtain.

Kuroi began to take her first step onto the stage, only to be quickly be stopped by a small stagehand. She shot the young intern a lethal look, before the electrifying clash of a new heavy metal theme began to blare through the arena speakers. A confused look flashed on Kuroi's face as she glanced at the nearby sound crew. The thought of an entrance theme hadn't even crossed her mind until this moment, but she had to admit, she was enjoying what had been chosen for her. Yes, it would make for quite the entrance to precede future victories. Kuroi gave the stagehand another menacing glare as she finally made her way to the top of the ramp, the deafening sound of her theme accompanying her every step.

A wave of cheering and hollers echoed through the arena as Kuroi approached the ring. She glanced around the arena with passive curiosity, unused to crowds of this size. With each step, the excitement and energy of the arena seemed to pulse through her veins, it was something that was obviously missing in her previous venues, but she had to admit, she kinda liked it.

As she settled into the spectacle, Kamikaze adopted a much more practiced demeanor as she entered the ring. It was the same posture she adopted before all her fights - the rolled backed shoulders, the clenched fists, the light side hopes, and of course that signature smile. Teeth flared, mouth crooked, and eyes piercing straight into the soul of her opponent. It was the kind of look that would leave any person wondering as to the mental state of the woman in front of them, but of course, Kuroi wasn't one to leave her opponent guessing.

"Lets get one thing straight - " The newcomer spat as soon as her opponent was within ear shot. "I'm not a wrestler, I'm a fighter. That means I break bones, and spill blood, and make little showgirls like you my bitch" Kuroi hissed, her sultry voice laced with venom. Her eyes glanced towards the referee, their disapproving glare quickly reminding her that she wouldn't really be allowed to deliver on most of those threats. Soon, even the crowds joined in with boos and jeers delaying Kuroi's diatribe. With a dismissive scoff, Kamikaze turned back to her opponent, that manic twinkle in her eye still bright as ever. "But tonight, I guess I'll just have to make do with making you scream" Kuroi cackled with delight. With a burst of speed that bordered on superhuman, Kuroi lunged forward to close the gap that separated them, silencing any retort her opponent may have had with a surprisingly gentle finger placed against her lips. "Shhh...save your breath," she said with a cold smile. "You're gonna need it..."

More giggles seeped through her eerie smile as Kuroi was quickly separated from her opponent with a reprimand from the referee. With a final, derisive cursory bow, Kuroi took a few steps back to the center of the ring, twirling a lock of hair around her finger. Looking as though she had forgotten all about the woman she had denigrated mere seconds ago, her eyes darting around the ring as if searching for someone or something more worthy of her attention.

”Great.” Sheila muttered under her breath as Kuroi pulled away. ”Got a mad dog.”

Back when Sheila was running her own promotion, every once in a while she’d come across a ‘special’ kind of wrestler. The kind that weren’t in it for the fun, or for the legacy of the sport, or to make money, or because they liked fighting and just needed an outlet. Those were the good kinds, those she could work with. The problems came up when she ran into the psychos. The ones who couldn't tell the difference between a wrestling ring and a fight pit. The ones who’d watched one too many Jean Claude Van Damne movies, and were just out to hurt people and get away with it. Sheila wouldn’t pretend she was a saint, and she did get a kick out of laying out bitches who had it coming, but it was never about giving out pain for the sake of pain. None of that sadistic shit.

‘Mad dogs’, she called them. Sometimes she could spot them, sometimes they only showed up after they were hired, and she’d had to put more than a few of them down.

The slasher smile, the heavy metal, the whacked out look, the horned demon on her crotch, all of it fit the bill. New country, same shite.

Sheila had been watching as the woman came down the ring, trying to get a read on her, but when she stepped through the ring and spoke, it was made all too clear what she was dealing with. A little annoying, yeah, but maybe this was a good thing in the end. If anyone was about to get their wig split, might as well be some crazy chick who had it coming.

She responded to Kuroi’s bow with a middle finger, figuring that was the best, most efficient way to get out her feelings at the moment, as the referee looked between them and shook her head. ”Keep it clean, you two.” She threw her hand down, calling for the bell. ”And wrestle WHOA!”

The referee yelped and leaped back as Sheila came dashing past at her full speed, rushing towards Kuroi at a lightning pace. She’d never been the ‘feeling out’ sort of wrestler, preferring to start top gear and crank it up from there, and today would be no different. She threw herself forward and lunged, throwing a wild right hook straight for her opponent’s face.

The referee's warning was gibberish in Kuroi's ears. Her senses were much more attuned to the telltale signs that her opponent was just itching to pounce. Like the mad dog Sheila had aptly described her as, Kuroi was already picking up that savory scent of sweat and adrenaline in the air. Kuroi's ears certainly didn't have to strain to hear the loud pounding of Sheila's feet charging across the canvas either, each thump sending tactile vibrations across the ring before arching their way up through the newcomer's nervous system. Then came that familiar metallic taste in her mouth, that tang of intuition that always prepared her body for an upcoming blow.

With Sheila being about as subtle as a rampaging elephant, Kuroi didn't even need to look up to acknowledge what her other senses had already confirmed... but there was no way she was going to miss a chance to see the look on her opponent's face either. She brought her eyes up to meet her charging opponent's a mere second before impact - plenty of time to show Sheila who exactly she was dealing with.

With lightning fast reflex, Kuroi sprung into action to reverse the move she had anticipated all along. She sidestepped the punch completely, watching with smug satisfaction as Sheila's fist floated a few inches in front of her wide open grin. Her own hands shot forward to grab onto Sheila's wrist, aiming to hijack her opponent's momentum before it dissipated into open air. If she was successful, Kuroi would then pivot around until she was behind her opponent, bringing Sheila's arm along for the ride before shoving the commandeered limb up the length of her opponent's back and into a tight hammerlock.

"Ooooh, I thought you just looked like Neanderthal... nice to know you move like one too!" Kuroi crowed into Sheila's ear, leaning inwards to add extra leverage to her already very tight hold.

The plan - if you could even call the chaotic thoughts going through Sheila’s head a ‘plan’ - was a simple one. She was going punch Ms. Demon Crotch in the face, knocked her down, keep punching her, maybe thrown in a kick or two, then mix in some moves until the bitch stopped moving.

On paper, it wasn’t the worst play, and it would work fine on 90% of the roster.

In practice, there was a snag - Kuroi, as it turned out, was in the 10% who just so happened to be faster than her.

Sheila learned this the hard way, as her opponent deftly avoided the blow, grabbed her wrist before she could stumble forward, and brought it behind her for a hammerlcok, trapping her in one seamless movement. SO, pretty solid confirmation sHE that Kuroi was in the elite ‘crazy, but not stupid’ club. Good to know.

Sheila grunted and struggled in the hold, wincing as her opponent added on the pressure. ”Yeah, yeah.” She twisted around, trying to make a little extra space. ”At least my getups not half-finished, bitch.”

Looking for a quick out, Sheila glanced down, took aim, then brought her foot up and tried to bring her heel down on Kuroi’s barefoot, trying to smash her toes into the canvas to make her let go.

Kuroi's fighter instinct had been a gift from birth. An uncanny ability to call upon her senses and intuition to anticipate attacks well before they happened. While it didn't take a prodigy to see Sheila's bull-headed charge coming her way, it did take an impressive amount of speed and skill to reverse it, and those were two things Sheila would quickly come to learn that Kuroi had in spades.

She figured her opponent would naturally try to escape the ensuing hold. In preparation, Kuroi planted her feet into the mat as she amped up the pressure of the hammerlock, fully expecting her opponent to try and squirm, wiggle, or even flip her way out of this. To her surprise, it was this grounded stance that would be her undoing.

It was like a bag of brick had been dropped from ten feet high directly onto her toes. The pain was intense, a white hot flash that spread through her foot and up her leg. Her fingers dug into Sheila's arm as she bit back a scream, refusing to let go of the hold her opponent was obviously trying to get her to relinquish. But soon the pain was too much to bear, and Kuroi was forced to release her opponent with a harsh shove before staggering back towards the ropes.

Despite the sudden attack, Kuroi quickly regained her composure, hopping on one foot as she cradled the other. A mix of laughter and cheers echoed through the arena, the crowds thoroughly entertained by the witty counter attack and Kuroi's amusing reaction. She shot a menacing gaze towards Sheila before joining them with forced laughter. "Well aren't you a resourceful one..."

With an agitated sigh, Kuroi lowered her foot back onto the mat, alleviating the pain somewhat by shifting most of her weight onto her other leg. She raised one hand forwards, beckoning Sheila towards her, while the other lifted up her short side-skirt and waved it back and forth like a matador's cape. "Why don't you stomp on over here and try that shit again?" She taunted, her mocking sneer belying the serious malice dripping from her voice.

As much as Sheila wanted to make fun of Kuroi for coming to the ring barefoot, she wasn’t in any position to throw stones, wearing sandals that left her toes just as open to assault. Still, at least she kept her soles covered, which made them a useful tool when she was dealing with foes who liked to rock the whole MMA look.

Speaking of which, the skill in that hammerlock hadn't gone unnoticed, and even after the two parted ways, Sheila was still feeling the pain on joints. She gave her shoulder a few quick rolls, getting the kinks out while her opponent dealt with her hammered foot. Still, she couldn't help but have a little chuckle along with the audience. It wasn’t exactly a crippling move, but it was nice knocking this psycho bitch over her pedestal, if only for a second. Wouldn’t be the last time, either.

”Lot more where that came from, you daffy bird…”

Kuroi looked like she was open for another shot, and Sheila was more than willing to give it to her, she took a step back, dusted her foot off, then came charging towards her foe at full blast again, not showing the smallest amount of hesitation. Even she wasn’t so blunt as to use the same attack twice in a row, though - she’d try something a little different.

Instead of one big blow, Sheila spent all her energy on a tight combo, trying to overwhelm her opponent, looking for even one shot to land. A left jab shot out aimed at her fast, then a right cross, with a short kick towards the knees to end the whole barrage. Sheila was no boxer on her best day, but she was sure that this would be laid out fast if she could score a decent shot.

Just one. Just one ”Fucking hold still!”

A misstep. That's all that was. Kuroi tried not to let it get to her, but being the butt of an arena-wide joke wasn't exactly how she planned to kick of her debut. She had played the moment off as best she could, but truth be told, it was already searing itself deep inside her mind. She glanced upwards once more towards the jovial crowd. Rest assured, it wouldn't happen again.

The thought was interrupted as Sheila decided to accept Kuroi's challenging head on, gearing up for yet another straightforward charge. Kuroi gracefully sidestepped as the first strike came her way, a left jab whizzing past her body. She could hear the frustration in Sheila's voice as she barked her orders, but holding still was the last thing on Kuroi's mind.

The second strike, a right cross, was just as easily avoided. Kuroi twisted her body, bring the palms of her hands down to redirect Sheila's fist into the open air. She attempted a quick pivot off her foot, hoping once again to sidestep the attack, but she was a fraction of a second too late. Sheila's kick glanced off the side of her knee, causing the martial artist's stance to buckle.

Rather than give Sheila a chance to throw a few more strikes into the mix, Kuroi decided to take advantage of her lowered posture. She pivoted off her back foot, extending out her other leg as she spun in place with impressive momentum. Hoping to catch her opponent before she could readjust her position, Kuroi would aim to swipe Sheila's feet right out for under her with a low spinning sweep kick.

If she was successful, Kuroi would immediately pop back up into a standing position, hovering over her downed opponent. "I guess you could say we got off on the wrong foot..." - Kuroi chortled at her own joke, giddy with excitement to deliver the punchline - "...so let me show you mine!" Kuroi would give her opponent half a second to process what she meant meant before making it crystal clear herself. She swept her leg upwards until it was perfectly vertical and parallel to her body, leaving her foot to hover above it's intended target momentarily for added suspense. Kuroi would then attempt to smash it down with monstrous force, aiming her heel for the direct center of Sheila's face in a damn near lethal axe kick!

In hindsight - the kind of sight that Sheila most often used - charging straight at Kuroi once again probably wasn’t the best idea. She’d fought enough women to know a real martial artist when she saw one, and while she was working off a sample size of one exchange, that alone was enough to tell her all she needed to know about her foe’s style. She might’ve been crazier than a shithouse rat, but those fancy pads on her feet weren’t for show. The style, the cocky swagger, the way she moved, the proper place - yeah, this was a real fighter. Couldn't even begin to guess what she was trained in, but it was something.

Sheila, on the other hand, picked up everything she knew about fighting from trial and error. A lot of it. That was enough for the riffraff, sure, but with someone who knew what they were doing, that gap would show. This was far from the first time she’d been countered like that.

And yet, as she plowed forward, she just couldn't find it in herself to give a damn.

Strike one, miss. ”Come-”

Strike two, miss again. ”-the fuck-”

Third shot? Paydirt. ”-on!”

It wasn’t much a just a kick at Kuroi’s beanstalk legs, but it more than did the trick, knocking her foe back a bit. The first real attack of the match that landed, a good sign that she could hurt this bitch. Just a few more good blows like that, and she’d fold. If she only got one out every four hits, she could work with that.

Sheila was reeling back for the follow up, when Kuroi mucked it up with some expert timing, swinging her leg low and tripping her clean on the ankle. She hit hard, smacking her head against the mat on impact, and opened her wincing eyes a moment later to the last thing she wanted to see - Kuroi’s foot, about to come down like guillotine.

Was Sheila fast enough to save her face? Yeah. Was she fast enough to avoid the attack altogether? Nope. She found that out the hard way, as she rolled over and tried to scramble off, only to wind up taking the blow between her shoulder blades. A damn sight better than her fucking nose, that was for sure, but still more than enough to knock the fight out of her for a few seconds. She stayed there, flat on her chest, groaning as the pain worked its way down her spine. ”Lucky…shot.” She muttered as she began to push her way up, a slow, painful process that Kuroi would certainly make worse.

Even the referee winced as Kuroi's heel sliced downwards through the air. The look on Kamikaze's face made her intentions perfectly clear even before she brought the hammer down. It would have been a nasty KO to say the least, but one that would have definitely cemented the newcomer's name as a force to be reckoned with. Unfortunately for Kuroi, it seemed like Sheila wasn't content with getting her face caved in quite yet.

Sheila's back was now where her face had been just a second ago, and with Kuroi's leg well past the point of no return, her heel was left with no place to smash into but the upper portion of her opponent's back. That didn't detract from the strike's effectiveness however, as her opponent was quick to realize. Kuroi left her heel buried in her opponent's back for a few seconds before retracted her leg, her face scrunched up as if somewhat disappointed that she missed the mark. With a shrug, Kuroi immediately got back to work, pressing her knee directly on the spot she had just battered, pushing down with all her weight to bring Sheila down onto the mat.

"Lucky for you maybe. If you had been just thiiiiis much slower, they'd been scrapping off bits of cavegirl brain off the mat by now" Kuroi drove the tip of her knee deeper into Sheila's back with a cackle, before pinching her thumb and forefinger and shoving it by Morgan's face to emphasize just how close she had come to a messy knockout.

"All in good time I guess" - Kuroi let out a loud sigh - "Of course, we could avoid that all together. All it would take would be one itsy... bitsy.... submission!" Kuroi screamed, her hands whipping into action as soon as she had said the words. She attempted to grab both of her opponent's wrists, hopping to drag her arms back and upward to painfully compress both of Morgan's shoulder blades together. In conjunction with the increasing pressure from Kuroi's knee, the devious heel was hoping to give her opponent's back a real bad time with with a mean and modified surfboard stretch!
