Betsy hated hospitals.
She’d been in them a handful of times in her childhood, sent there after some accident when she got rambunctious, spraining something during cheer practice, one time when she caught this nasty virus, stupid stuff like that. She’d been there enough times to absolutely loathe it, and it wasn’t because of the food or the lack of good television or having metal things pump juices into her arms - no, what drove her up the walls was all the sitting and waiting and doing nothing. More so than ever when she had to deal with the knowledge that somewhere, out there, a bitch had an ass in sore need of kicking.
It was the thought that occupied most of her headspace as she laid in the infirmary, sitting down on the examination bed while she waited for the doctor to return with some X-ray results. They’d rushed her into the machine and gave her a thorough scan, even though they were close to certain that nothing serious had been damaged. If this was anything like the routine she was used to, it would just be a matter of going back home and spend a week horizontal, get rested up, and then-

She looked over to the side where Troy sat, thumbing through a magazine, probably just to keep his mind off things. He wasn’t even looking her way when he spoke. ”No…what?” She shook her head and sat up, more ginger and careful this time, propping on her elbows for extra support. ”I didn’t say anything.”
Troy flipped a page, then glanced her way. [color#ff0000]”You didn’t need to. I can practically hear you thinking over there.”[/color] Another page flipped. ”And I’m telling you, no, it’s a bad idea. Just leave Harris alone.”
”But-” She winced as another blast of pain went through her, and she flopped back down. ”How can you say that? Someone attacks me and I’m just supposed to let that go? Really?”
”I’m not telling you to let anything go. Didn’t say that.” He closed the magazine and sat it aside for now, so he could look her way full on. ”But we’re wrestlers. We’re new here. I’m not saying you never get her back, but Tia is high on the totem pole for a reason. You don’t get to a place where you’re taking on Alaina Sanders by accident.” He shook his head. ”Just wait. Bide your time a bit. Improve…”
Betsy let out a long, exasperated groan at that idea. Improve? She knew Tia was supposed to be good, but she couldn't be all that hot if her go-to was attacking people from behind. All Betsy had to do was take her on, fair and square, and the bitch would crumble like a deck of cards, she was sure of it…
Betsy was just about to tell Troy as much, when she heard a ruckus going on outside. More people rushing, more hurried voices, more rapid footsteps. The door was only partially open, so the two of them got the smallest sneak peek of the situation, but it was enough to figure things out - they could see Catherine Perez being hauled into the room next door, and it was easy to guess what the cause was.
Troy just looked on, stone-faced, before he turned back to look her way and lock eyes. ”No.”
