Competition vs Cooperation

Ok, I feel like this message needs to be made, and I decided to nip the problem in the bud and, in case where another person would legitimately have beliefs that this is how LAW operates, there isn't any confusion to them that that view is wrong.

The issue in question

Recently there was an issue with a user who acts in, what I believe to be a strange way, with them explaining it as them acting in "Spirit of a competition".

When prompted an explanation, he said the following:

"Well, wrestling is a competition...I guess? I mean, right on the front page, you have champions displayed. That gives an impression (at least to me) that there is at least a subtle hint of competition."

And written wrestling even more so.

From what I can tell, there are two ways to perceive this sentence: Competition within matches and competition between matches.

The former is simply just the two people rping in a thread against one another...which is not competition. It could be, but it's not on this website at least. Did you know that at some point, AFW didn't have "decide winners beforehand" as a rule? This meant that a lot of users tried to get the winner on the fly? Meaning that everyone no sold constantly and made rping not fun for anyone? Yeaaaaaaaaah. Within an rp, there can't be competition unless there is an element determening success of a character in a thread. Otherwise, the competition in question would be who can write: "she got punched in the face but ignored that" the most.

The latter is a bit more plausible...if number or quality of rps was the measure of success on the website. Admittedly, the former is a bit of the factor in determining whether a user can be a champion...namely to ensure that the title wouldn't stagnate if they aren't on the website for months on an end.

Quality is, arguably, taken into consideration as long as your rp partners are satisfied with the thread. Mostly because quality works in a circle - someone sees your past rps, you set up an rp with them, and someone else will see that and want an rp, and on occasion, that could be the champion holder.

However, there is one way that kind of "breaks the meta" when it comes to this approach.

You can just ask the champion whether you can win the belt from them.

Shocker, I know.

Will they say no? Possibly. But they might say yes, and you'll get the title if your character is qualified with 3 completed matches. How can it be a competition for quality of rps = title when you can just ask a user for their belt?

Titles are not titles for you. They are for your characters. End of.

Why did this need a write up?

Any page on this website can be someone's first. And that sentence could be seen by someone and the website's nature would be a false image that this user has or trolls that he has in his mind, causing either a person who do not understand what this website is, or just driving users away from the site.
