Several months ago, Melody and Navi decided to make a shared Youtube channel. At first, the two didn’t know what to use it for. Melody pitched to her friend to use it as a Let’s Play channel, and her blonde friend believed they could do that…but also believed they could use to benefit their job as well.
And between their training, matches and injuries, the 2 simply didn’t have the time to buy any equipment needed for Let’s Playing, Navi only buying herself a camera on some money she had lying about. And today was the day she would finally put it to good use.
On a normal day in August, with Melody and Navi’s account having between 100 to 200 subs (likely fans recognizing the 2 wrestlers and finding their channel to subscribe to it, even though there wasn’t much there), a video was posted to a channel, titled “About the BYE for the Middleweight Title Tournament”
The 3 minute video opened up with little fanfare, only Navi sitting in the middle of the sofa in their house, asking: “Is it recording?”
“I think so…yep, it is!”, Melody’s voice would be heard on camera.
“Alright. Hello! Everyone…hmm…we don’t really have a name for our fanbase, do we? Well regardless, to those who stumbled to this video, considering the title, you probably realize what this is about. That’s right, Sonic Mania.”
“Just kidding…I don’t have it yet”, the blonde would say in a sad tone.
“And, kidding aside, all the wrestling smarks are probably asking about “How the LAW Middleweight Tourney is going to turn out?”, “Who will be the first LAW champion?”. Well, to both questions, me kicking everybody’s asses, and…well…me!”, Navi would say, excitedly pointing to herself for the last question.
“But here is a deal. A minor deal, but still. I was offered a BYE for the Middleweight Tourney. As in, to win the title, I would be in one less match than some of the other competitors,”
“And…at first, I thought, why not? I know I can beat everyone in that tourney, I know I am the best not just in the Middleweight Division, but LAW in general…”
“…but then it hit me. A lot of you people hate me. I hear every single boo and jeer you let out when I enter. At first, I gave it little notice. I fight however I want, I act however…but if people boo me once I am the champion, will I really be visible as the champ? Or as that blonde lady who cheats and wears a belt while doing that?”
“No. With this tourney, I will prove, I am not a fucking footnote. I will be the LAW Middleweight Champion, and I will beat every single woman in my path to do that,”
“Besides, who are my opponents for this tourney? A supermodel? A Russian Dome who got a lucky shot on a legitimately great veteran? A hentai wrestler? Realistically, there are only 2 women who can give me a decent challenge, the Tigress and The Perfect Woman”.
“With that, Mr. Dan DeFranco, my answer is this: I do not accept a BYE into the tourney. I will fight the hardest path to prove to all the smarks, to all my haters, which includes a purple cat as well, that I am fully and truly worthy to be the champion”, Navi would finish her declaration in a serious tone.
“And to those who don’t care? To those who will still boo me after I am the champ? At that point, I won’t care. Because my point isn't in proving the haters wrong, it's in proving myself right."
The video would end at that point, with the recommended vids (most of them snippets from LAW matches) appearing.
The viewership count would reach 100 by the first hour, 10000 by the first day, and 100000 by the next, after Melody and another LAW wrestler GASTER retweeted it a couple of times on their Twitter accounts, with their channel increasing more than 10 times in terms of the subscriber base.
The comments to the vid were…a typical Youtube comment’s section. Only about a percentage of the comments was about praising Navi for the action, and another percentage not buying it, believing the French blonde to be nothing but a cheater with a good amount of strength. A massive part of the comments included the “Wrestling is Fake” part, which Navi didn’t hesitate to mark as spam. Other comments included memes, people not knowing who Navi was, comments about selling out, comments about asking Navi to take part in a hentai match (those being the only ones to get actual replies from the official account, that being a simple: “No”).
