A video package played leading into this match. It highlighted not just the recent promo in which Melody challenged Kat to this anything, the but also story of this rivalry. The story of how Melody had been at Navi's back as her best friend in or out of the wrestling business. The story of how Navi Florges feuded with Kat Hart for months, making every effort she could to undermine and undercut Katherine. Tainted wins, low blows, verbal and physical attacks on Kat's character. All of this culminated in an I Quit Match between Kat Hart and Navi Florges. The match that afflicted both women in injury, Navi much more so. The match that saw Melody hit Kat's old manager with her finisher. Melody sidelined poor Mina Diaz with a massive Cutter, right in front of a live crowd. Right there on national television. The match that saw Kat take up the poor officiating in match after match, where they protected Navi, avoiding handing the woman the loss she deserved, yet again.

This video package transitioned to the present day. How Navi had ghosted from LAW, leaving Melody all alone. How Melody's career had floundered in loneliness and obscurity. How LAW struggled to find room for her on the big stages, the big events, the PPV's and Supercards like this one. And how at the same time that Melody began her downward spiral, Kat Hart had prospered. Kat found allies in her tag partners and beyond. She attained championship gold alongside her best friends. She had risen to prominence. LAW officials were calling her the face of the company. Many fans and big names thought of Kat as one of the best at LAW and in the world today.

Fast forward to just a few weeks ago, to Melody's challenge to Kat. To her demanding this match of The Super Kitty. Melody threatened to get this match by any means necessary. Even if she had to go out of her way to find a means to harm Kat's legacy, even if she had to force Kat into this match, even if this endeavor warped her and changed the crowd's and everyone else's perception of her. Even if it meant possibly making good on her threats to become the villain...

Entrance Music

The crowd got into it when Kat's music came on. When the beat dropped, the pyro went off and the tag team champion appeared at the top of the entrance ramp! Kat smiled as she walked down the ramp. Her golden title belt was fastened around her waist. She high-fived fans as she came down the ramp and made her way to the ring. But her usual confident grin and her energy and her demeanor....to anyone that regularly kept up with The Super Kitty's exploits at LAW, she seemed subdued.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, your Main Event of the evening! The following is a Hardcore Match! There will be no disqualifications! Falls must be earned inside the ring! Melody Serperior has agreed to retire from wrestling in the event that she loses...."

"Introducing first! Weighing in at 175 lbs! She is one of the reigning and defending LAW World Tag Team Chaaaaampions! Representing The SSSSWWAAAAAAT Cats! The SSSSSuper Kitty! Katheriiiiiine! Haaaarrrrrrrt!"

Kat climbed the steel steps and held fast to the ropes before turning to the crowd and raising her fist high in the air. She ducked through the ropes and entered the ring. She turned her belt over to the officials that would keep it on the announce desk. A contemplative, almost stoic expression washed over her. The luchadora would settle in her corner. She seemed pressed. Commentary would note how conflicted Kat was feeling as she and everyone else awaited the arrival of her longtime rival, of a woman that Kat had, once upon a time, hoped to find a friend in someday....

Melody made it to the dance...to her final dance, potentially. She was not planning to make it so, however. This was getting herself into the corner, and fighting for survival against the toughest challenge she could think of, physically and mentally. Sure, management was angry at her for taking the time out of one of "faces of LAW" and the Tag Champion's busy schedule for what both them and the fans believed to be a very selfish reason...but ultimately, one that proved to be enough of a draw to put it as the main event of LAW's rebooted big show schedule.

With Kat's quite serious entrance a few moments earlier, the time came for the greenette to arrive to the ring...

Entrance Theme

Melody entered to her usual theme tune...but dressed in new, fresh attire, one the crowd hasn't seen her in before. The reaction for her was...mixed to say the least. She was stoic as she made her way down the ramp, breathing heavily in nervousness...her eyes not leaving the Tag Team champion's gaze as she climbed into the ring.

As her theme quiet down, Melody had only 2 words to say to Kat. At the end of the day, she showed up, and granted her her wish, and to that, even though the Super Kitty might take them as an insult, Melody had to say:

"Thank you..."

Melody arrived with a flashy new look. She was composed, focused... ready. Though she was nervous underneath the surface, none of it seemed to peer through her cold exterior. No reactions from the crowd could shake her. Nothing about Kat's uneasiness or reservations could deter Serperior. It was admittedly a snazzy new attire, the best wrestling outfit Melody had put together in Kat's book. But it was the very same driven, no-nonsense Melody Serprior underneath the flattering garbs.

This Main Event Match pit a face of the company against the status of Melody's career! Kat was expecting Melody to keep up the same attitude she had come at her with during their promo. The same vitriol, the same conviction, the same stubborn desire to topple The Super Kitty or be forced to leave wrestling.

Both wrestlers had their gazes fixed on one another. Melody entered the ring. Kat was expecting a threat, an insult, something to communicate that Melody had no stake in this beyond her desire to use the legendary luchadora as a test and nothing more. She couldn't have possibly have foreseen the words that came from the greenette's mouth: "Thank you."

A slight gasp left Kat's lips. She shut her eyes tightly. Her balled fist trembled with angst. After all of this and after everything the two of them had been through, Kat could feel the earnestness of those words. If nothing else, they conveyed that Melody was committed. That this was happening. And Kat, in all of her efforts to become a paragon of pro wrestling, with all of her desire to see Melody turn towards the light and not the darkness, couldn't help but shed a single tear.

"W-wait...." Hart gasped. Serperior's words had only twisted the knife in the wound that was Katherine's misgivings with this match. It was supposed to be a pay-per-view that pit weight class against weight class for supremacy. But it quickly became one of the biggest morale dilemmas of The Super Kitty's career!

Kat made her way for the ropes. She beckoned the production crew at ringside for the mic. They handed it to her promptly. And she approached Melody, knowing that Melody and everyone else had no desire to hear her next words.

"Melody, you and I have known each other for years and years. And in all that time I have never, not even once, asked you for a single thing....but I'm asking now...." Kat would trail off. Her sadness was evident in her tone. If Melody let her finish, she'd continue.

"I'll take the heat the DeFranco and from management. I will throw myself to the wolves and I will apologize to each and every person in this crowd. I'll apologize to everyone that brought this event at home....there's still a few seconds before the bell rings. Just please....please reconsider this stipulation...." Hart begged her opponent.

"I don't want to....I don't want to retire you....!" Katherine's deeply conflicted, sad blue eyes would meet Melody's ember irises if she managed to get the words out.

Melody waited, with Kat grabbing a mic to address the greenette. Once again, the Super Kitty was having doubts about the match, begging Melody to stop, begging her to reconsider, not wanting to go through this match...

Melody stared at Kat for a few seconds, approaching the Super Kitty...and slapping her straight in the face.

The crowd booed, naturally, and the ref was about to open her mouth as a warning as Melody's head snapped to her:

"Ring the bell...", she angrily told the official.

"W-But..."

"RING THE FUCKING BELL!"

Ref flinched...before doing what she was asked:

DING DING DING!

The moment the bell rang, Melody would drive her knee into the Super Kitty's gut!

"I don't fucking care if you want to do it, or not. Either you are retiring me...or I will destroy you...", Melody would say, wrapping her arm around Super Kitty's head, trying to drive her head into the floor with a DDT!

Everything between these two was finally coming to a head. Despite knowing that there was only a snowball's chance in heck that she could actually get through to Melody, the goodness in Kat didn't let her sit back and watch the match kick off without one last plea- one last try at steering Serperior off the dark path she was walking!

Once more Kat had tried to be a voice of reason, once more she tried to be something of a friend to this woman as Melody continued this downward spiral! And once more, Melody rebuffed The Super Kitty and punished her for showing any kind of hesitation!

SLAP!

The sound of Melody's palm meeting the cheek of Kat's masked head echoed off the microphone on the masked heavyweight's hand! Kat's head was turned to the side by the force of the slap!

She dropped her microphone. Her head remained turned and her gaze drifted lower, towards the canvas. Persistent boos filled the arena! Kat stood there stunned, not by the slap, but by Melody's sheer vitriol! Even as Melody barked at the female referee overseeing the match, Katherine never moved an inch! She stood there with her arms at her sides and her eyes closed with dismay. Kat couldn't believe this was happening!

The bell rang and Melody didn't waste a second! She moved in and lifted her knee, ramming it into Hart's bare, chiseled abs! Kat didn't fight back! She didn't say a word! The boos intensified as the legendary luchadora was doubled over by Melody's Knee Lift!

Serperior's strike set Kat up for her follow-up! The angry greenette threatened Kat to either step up or get stepped on! And as she did, she hooked her arm over The Super Kitty's head and neck and fell backwards to spike Hart's head into the canvas with a DDT!

Once more, Melody brought it to Kat! And once more did the boos increase in presence and volume! Kat was forced into a headstand position before falling onto her back! She brought her hand to the crown of her head and lay there beneath her opponent in pain!

Love her or hate her, Melody's convictions and resolve were unshakable! Where Kat's morals and her past with Melody made her hesitate, Melody was ready to punish her at each and every turn! No matter what the fans around the world thought of her, no matter what the crowd thought or said about her, no matter how much the LAW commentators at ringside disparaged her, Serperior was bent on taking it to Kat! Melody came at the luchadora with a malice that we'd never seen from her! And it seemed that the Brit would keep coming at Kat until she was able to push Kat to fight her with everything that the face of the company could muster!

With Kat's head drilled into the canvas, the crowd showered the greenette with a chorus of boos, as Melody sternly, silently looked at all of them with a judgmental look...before quickly turning her attention back to the Super Kitty, ramming her foot into her head with a stomp. Once, twice, three times she would kick away at her head, before dashing away into the ropes, rebounding off to get back at Kat.

She would jump, aiming her knee up in the air, trying to bring it down onto the Super Kitty's skull for a vicious Knee Drop!

Melody was a woman possessed. She was unrelenting, unfettered, unhinged...

Kat Hart's complicated feelings about all this did not make Serperior hesitate even for a second. Neither did the chorus of boos that followed when Melody floored the legendary luchadora. No, she continued working on Kat. Serperior rained stomp after stomp on The Super Kitty! Katherine raised her forearms to try and defend herself. She grit her teeth as she tried to endure Melody's onslaught! She tried to endure quite a lot about the way things were culminating between these two in the main event of Martial LAW! But even Kat could only remain ambivalent for so long!

The crowd came alive with cheers when Melody ran for the ropes! Not because of the hateful middleweight's actions, but because Kat suddenly kipped up off the canvas! By the time Melody had rebounded off the ropes, Kat was already on her feet! She kept a wide stance! She measured her longtime rival! When Melody came charging in, Kat would step towards her and raise one leg to try and catch Melody flush on the chin with a massive Superkick, much to the approval of fans in the arena and fans watching around the world!

One should not have taken Melody wanting to make this a career threatening match as the fact that she was tired of wrestling. She still loved the business, the fighting...she was tired of her own stagnation. This was her punishment, backing herself into a corner to the point where she had to adapt or perish. Kat was the perfect foe for this...even if she wasn't willing to end Melody if it came to that...or so she thought.

As Melody rebound the ropes and dashed for Kat, the Super Kitty would suddenly hop back up to her feet in one swift motion, outstretching her leg as she slammed it straight into Melody's jaw for a Super Kick!

"AAAAAAAAUGH!!!"

The hit rocked Melody, knocking her on the floor, making the world spin in her eyes for a second. She propped herself up on her elbow with one hand, rubbing her sore jaw with another, as she tried to get back up to her feet. Kat was serious about going through with this match thankfully, Melody nodded as she tried to get back up to her feet, her movement still sluggish from the Super Kick, Kat free to follow up her attack!

Kat had been struggling internally for weeks leading up to this match. How did things turn out this way? What was filling Melody with so much vitriol? What made her so unhinged? These questions burned in the luchadora's mind. Kat could see why Melody wanted to push herself, but everything about going to these extremes, everything about risking her career only filled the luchadora with a somber sadness. She was at a standstill. But no longer! At least not for the moment!

The crowd broke out into a roar of cheers when The Super Kitty showed all signs of life and sprang up from the canvas! The crack of her boot connecting with Serperior's jaw was heard even over the roars of the crowd!

Kat stood there for a moment in the center of the ring. There was a scorned look in her eyes as she slowly turned her head and cast her gaze on a downed Melody. With Melody's pace slowed, she approached the greenette. Kat would look to bend down and grab hold of each of her opponent's wrists while Melody was still rising. She'd look down at a kneeling Melody with her teeth grit and her brow deeply furrowed.

"Is this what you want, Melody?!?" The tag team champion would scold her foe!

"To be put down?! To fade away in a ball of hate, just like her?! Just like Navi?!"

With a driven, but saddened battle cry, Kat would follow these words by throwing her knee forward! She tensed her standing leg and lifted the knee of her other leg, abruptly! The logo on her kneepads would meet the point of Serperior's chin if she got her way! Once more Kat would aim for Melody's jaw to try and floor her with a potent, well-aimed strike!
