Personality: Lauren Yates is passionate actress. She loves to get into a good role. But outside of her roles, Lauren is a rather shy woman. She has recently coming out of depressed stage in her life, but she still slumps into her depression from time to time.
Persona Personality: Captain Jane Juliet is a bumbling buffoon. She’s greedy and egotistical, but also a heart of gold. She cares a lot about the people around her, and doing the people she has deals with fair, even if people often cheat her. While she often falls flat on her face, she is the type of character people like to see succeed in the end. Jane Juliet is very much a lesbian in the films. She has an all-female crew, and is often hitting on other female characters.

Past/History: Lauren Yates was born in California, the second youngest of five brothers and sisters. In high school she was one of popular girls, but she manages to befriend a nerdy girl named Amy Applegate. Lauren was theater girl who often played the leads in the school plays, while Amy worked backstage and was an inspiring director. Lauren would often feature in small home movies Amy would make to practice her craft. After building a pretty impressive pirate ship with some of her workshop friends, Amy filmed the first film featuring Lauren Yates as Captain Jane Juliet. It was an unnamed short film that Amy sent to a small film festival along with some of her other short films. But that film, and particularly Lauren’s performance in it, caught the eye of a producer. This producer sent Amy a message calling for her to make a full length Jane Juliet film, and so the Jane Juliet franchise was born.
The first film Captain Jane Juliet and the Ruby Sword is a small B-Adventure Movie. It features Jane Juliet and her all female crew looking for a legendary Ruby Sword, and facing the fierce Captain Silver Beard after it. The treasure ends up not existing Jane Juliet ends getting the upper hand on her rival anyways. The film ends with Jane Juliet being sour that the treasure was fake, but she comforted by her crew who agree to follow her to the end of time. The small film did decently at film festivals, and grew a cult fan base.
The second film Captain Jane Juliet and the Great Hunt is an adventure that features Jane Juliet going up a wacky cast of other pirate Captains who are all in search for The Wishing Stone, a stone that is said to grant wishes. It ends with the treasure once again being fake, and at the end when her first-mate asks Jane Juliet what she would wish for, Jane Juliet answers “I don’t know… I have everything I ever wanted right here. Probably something stupid like more booze.” This film greatly expands on the lore of Jane Juliet’s world. The film was mild success and gave Amy the money to make a grand third and supposedly final film.
The third film Captain Jane Juliet at the End of Time is a grand action adventure that features Jane Juliet searching for the Fountain of Youth. This film has Jane Juliet going up against the only other female Pirate Captain, Azela. Azela is Jane Juliet’s exact opposite, competent, collected, and cruel. Jane Juliet pursues the Fountain just so that Azela can’t have it. The Fountain of Youth ends up being a time portal that Azela is searching for so that she can return to the future. After realizing this, Jane Juliet helps her out, but at the end of the film clumsily falls into the Fountain, and disappears from time. This film ends with Jane Juliet’s first-mate, an older married woman with kids now, hearing a thud hit her house, and body fall past the window. She runs outside to hear a familiar voice say “FUCKIN’ Ow! It’s always the ass!”
End of Time was a huge success, giving the Jane Juliet films worldwide recognition. A big studio then offered to buy the rights to the franchise, which Amy agreed along as she and Lauren get to still work on the films, the studio agreed… somewhat… They wrote in a loophole into the contract that allowed them to fire Lauren as the main lead (in fact she only appears as a 5 second cameo in the next film), for a big name actress. Amy was put on as one of five writers, and according to Amy the studio barely used her parts of the script. The next Jane Juliet film, simply titled Captain Jane Juliet, was a huge flop. Lauren was completely fired for the fifth film, and Amy was locked into a pointless writing contract being force to work on other films as well.
Being fired from her most famous role, Lauren tried to get on with other films. But never actually finding her footing. She became deeply depressed, and dipped into alcoholism. For the next few years, Lauren wallowed in depression. A fifth Jane Juliet film came out… and it too flopped hard. And Amy was fighting to get the rights to her franchise back, which succeeded after the failure of the fifth film.
Amy had dreams to make a proper fourth Jane Juliet film, and for this she needed her best friend and lead actress. She helped Lauren clean up her act, and sent her to rehab to get over her alcohol addiction. With Lauren back on her feet, now they need money. Lauren was also a big fan of professional wrestling, and while she doesn’t fully know how to wrestle, she knows how to play a part and work a crowd. So Lauren decided to take wrestling lessons and join LAW to help fund a new rightful Jane Juliet film.
