Melody and Domino - An Encounter in the Gym

Melody would nod when Domino explained about both of them being passionate about fighting: "Yep. That's exactly that. I am not someone to do things half-way."

Melody also returned Drake the smile as he praised her resiliency, him fully believing that she would've beaten Helena had her opponent not cheated. So in a way, she succeeded in showing her sparring partner her skills.

"Thanks! Let's exchange numbers to contact each other for another spar, my phone is in the locker room."

The pleased smile on his face would only support her belief. They're cut from the same proverbial cloth. And he seems on board with exchanging information - right up until she says where her phone is. His expression shifts to one of playful incredulity, an eyebrow teasingly perked at her. He doesn't give the joke voice - he just lets it hover in subtext, waiting to see if she catches what others may have interpreted as an invitation.

As Melody would leave the ring, she would start going towards the locker room, seeing an interesting facial expression on her sparring partner.

Not really being interested in either men or women, Melody was rather slow with realising she said something flirtatious, or even something dirty, not really realising people are interested in her in that way when talking to her.

And this was one of those times. Slightly confused as to why Drake would have the interested expression, Melody played back the words she said in her head. Multiple times...

...until she finally realised what had Domino so interested. So as they approached the door of the locker for women, she would say to Domino: "Stay right here, I'll be back in a moment", before disappearing into the locker room to take her phone.

Melody's expression suggests she isn't getting. In fact, she might be looking at him like he's the weirdo. As she begins walking, he follows - several paces behind her, of note. She didn't actually mean it to come out that way, did she? Each step she takes without addressing it just makes him question it more. Was it on purpose? Couldn't be. It'd be just so.. blunt; out of nowhere. He wasn't picking up that signal from her at all before.

When she turns around, he's still several feet behind her. His expression is actually relieved when she speaks - primarily because he no longer has to wonder. She had to've been messing with him.

Fists prop to hips, and his expression relaxes from the increasing perplexity it used to wear. "Think I can manage that."

As Melody walked towards the locker where she left her phone, her heart filled with anxiety: "Shit! Did I give him a wrong idea?"

As Melody took her phone and turned towards the door, she paused for a good half a minute, taking her time to think of what to say to Domino to not make herself come off as awkward, and not give him the wrong idea at the same time. She would be really glad to have him as a friend, but going through such a relationship once was already too much for her.

Calming herself after taking a deep breath, Melody walked towards the exit from the locker room, and opened the door, looking directly at Drake:

"Sorry I gave you the wrong idea earlier. That really wasn't my intention. I'm not...really into guys...", Melody would say to Drake, planning to leave it at that...

...except she realized she would give him ANOTHER wrong impression, and quickly corrected herself: "I-I mean, I'm not into anyone, really...damnit I'm bad at this.....

Covering her face in shame, Melody opened her phone's contact list, to try and hopefully still add Drake to the list in question, despite the confuison

She told him to stay. As in, outside the locker. She wasn't trying to invite a risque scenario, but.. did she get what it sounded like? Did she get the tease? There were little moments peppered into the match that seemed to keep them off the same page, and while it wasn't anything damning, it was curious to note.

When she emerges, she doesn't quite seem the girl who went in moments before. His head... tilts.

"Uh.."

"Wait.."

"Melody!"

The use of her name comes with the musicality of a laugh blended with an elevated voice to try and snap her out of what seemed to be a sinking ship of worry. "Relax. You didn't give me the wrong idea. I knew you weren't being, like... sly. It was just the way it was put! And it was funny." His head cants, bemused smile still worn. "You good?" He can fret with his phone after.

Melody went on a wild assumption as her mouth outsped her thoughts, not realising that Drake was calling out to her. She only stopped once Domino said her name.

"Y-yeah...I just don't get those jokes...", she would answer, thankful that the confusion was cleared up.

After inhaling and exhaling quite loudly, she turned on the keypad on her phone to enter the number:

"Could you do it? Or should I?", she asked Drake, presenting him with her phone.

His bemusement continues in a chuckle, shaking his head. "It's fine. I like to think I'm easygoing enough - you don't have to sweat things so much with me."

Without answering, he simply plucks her phone and makes his way to his own belongings. "Sec."

Besides easygoing, she'll find Drake is also not horrible, and in fact does not take this opportunity to screw with her phone or change he wallpaper to something lewd. No, he's genuinely just transferring numbers. And soon enough, he returns to her and offers her the phone back. "All done."

A bit naively, Melody trusts Drake with her phone as he would take it away to his own bag for a bit to transfer numbers, and was glad to see he didn't screw with anything up in there (unlike her blonde friend, who takes every opprotunity to screw with settings everytime she got a hold of the phone), when he returned it, with his contact now safely recorded in the contact book

"Thanks!"

"Soooo...what are you going to do right now? I think my regimen will be out of the question today...". Melody would ask, knowing that any other training today would hurt her more than help...

Her appreciation is met with a modest smile and bob of his head.

"Right now?," Drake asks, taken a little off-guard by the question. Was she wanting to join him on... whatever he was about to do? Actually, what is he about to do? He glances aside in thought, lips twisting. "Mmnn.. not working out, I can tell you that. M'sore." He looks back to her with a wry grin, then up as he reflects. "Get... a coffee? Or maybe some bruise ointment?," he jokes.

"Why do ya ask?"
