Re: Ryu Hiroshi vs. Valley Doll III - Smells Like Teen Spirit
Eh. Smooth.
Though there wasn’t any flaw in the dropkick that Valerie could see, she recognized too late that she’d overestimated just how dazed her opponent would be, figuring that Ryu would be too stunned by her suplex to prepare for the follow-up. Most would’ve been wide open for that dropkick, but he had the foresight to get his arms up and brace, withstanding the assault. It wasn’t something she’d expected, to say nothing of the sudden drop that came after.
She was in a bad position, him standing tall while she was on the floor, and Valerie instinctively tried to crawl away before he could capitalize. Too bad for her, Ryu’s instincts were quicker on the draw this time, and he caught her before she could make her full escape, wrapping her up in a tight guillotine.
Valerie took a deep breath before he clenched the hold, but that was only a small saving grace, buying her some extra time and air. It was a stop-gap measure, a way for her to stay in the fight and buy some precious seconds - crucial seconds. She needed a fast escape plan.

Re: Ryu Hiroshi vs. Valley Doll III - Smells Like Teen Spirit
Showing his experience, he was ready when the blonde decided to hit him with the dropkick and did a good job at blocking the kick with his arms. The kick still hurt his forearm but at least he remained standing while Valley fell to the ground post-dropkick. Before she could get up though, the Dragon swooped in and wrapped his arm around her head, dragging her on top of him as he went down to his back, while ensnaring her in a tight guillotine choke and body body scissor submission.
He tightened the hold which was evident from his facial expressions, teeth gritted and brows furrowed. Ryu was panting as well, trying to pace his own breathing while squeezing Valley's neck and waist as tightly as he could in the submission. He had her trapped and there was no way out, perhaps this was going to be the end of her good run of form against the veteran.
"Hah, you wrestled well but...it's time to admit defeat" he whispered, confident of his victory now.

Admit defeat?
Valerie would’ve laughed at that if she’d had the breath to spare. Ryu wasn’t lacking for hubris. Sure, the man had gotten her with a good move, and it was impressive that he’d nailed it so early on, but she was still fairly fresh and this was far from a game-ending move. Besides, Valerie would rather get knocked clean out than tap less than five minutes into her debut match.
Still, he did have her over a barrel, at least in the moment. The ropes were far away, and she wasn’t powering out of this any time soon. So what could she do?
Well, his legs were wrapped around her body.
And his arms were busy working on her head.
Which meant that he wasn’t in a good position to fight off, say, a pin.
That was precisely what Valerie went for. She planted her feet on the mat, pushed forward, and put his shoulders to the mat, with the referee sliding in quick to start up the pinfall.
”1…!”

Re: Ryu Hiroshi vs. Valley Doll III - Smells Like Teen Spirit
So far the young blonde had been impressive, more impressive than Ryu thought she would have been but despite that this was nothing the veteran wrestler could not handle. He had seen many wrestlers in his long career like Valerie but the question here was would she cave into the pressure or would she rise up to be a cut above the rest? Ryu would not let up at all, there was no easy way out of this as the Dragon had her trapped in the submission hold. He was focused, squeezing her more and more until suddenly she would use her feet to push forward and have Ryu lay flat on his back with his shoulders pinned to the mat.
The referee counted "One" and Ryu would quickly look over to his shoulders. "Shit" he cursed under his breath before releasing her waist and quickly rolling over, forcing Valley to shift down on her back with him laying on top of her. Ryu attempted to wrap both of his arms around the back of her head and neck while pressing his entire weight on top of her, looking to wear her out with a grounded headlock.
"Clever...but now what?" he asked.

Re: Ryu Hiroshi vs. Valley Doll III - Smells Like Teen Spirit
‘Shit’, indeed. Valerie had managed to score a win like this a handful of time, invariably on guys who thought they were getting the better of her and forgot the whole bit about shoulders being on the mat. A common mistake, and one that was easy to fall into if you were getting too engrossed and carried away. ‘Newbie fodder’, as her high school coach like to call it.
But Ryu was no newbie, not by a long shot, so a tactic like that was only ever going to get Valerie so far. It did wind up breaking the hold, but where others would’ve abandoned it outright and resetted, he had the foresight to stay on the floor and flip things up.
The headlock was better than getting guillotined, but it was still a far cry from a good position. The move was simple, but effective, and it left her with precious few options for escaping. That being said, she could see a decent one right in front of her, thanks to Ryu rolling about and making some space.
With her shoulder lifted up enough to avoid the pin, Valerie planted her feet on the mat and started to slide back, forcing them further and further to the ring ropes, until she was close enough to reach out, snag the bottom one, and force a rope break.

Re: Ryu Hiroshi vs. Valley Doll III - Smells Like Teen Spirit
It was going to take more than just a clever pinfall attempt to defeat Ryu and at this point it was probably implicit to his opponent who found herself still trapped, this time underneath the Dragon. Ryu would press his strong frame on top of the blonde, pinning her to the mat while having his strong arms squeeze her head as tight as he could. For Valley though, it was still better than the guillotine choke and scissor but he had a hunch that somehow she would have preferred to escape his clutches altogether.
He continued to work her over, squeezing as tightly as he could while making sure she wasn't escaping this by powering out. If she did though, Ryu would be supremely impressed. Valley had other methods though, making sure her shoulders were raised slightly off the mat to avoid a pinfall, she pressed her feet against the mats to elevate herself just a bit, allowing herself to slide backwards bit by bit until she got to the ropes. Honoring the rules, Ryu released her head and rolled off her, getting back up to his feet whilst next to her.
He looked down, putting his arm forward towards her direction to give her a helping hand. "Get up. I know you can do more than this" he said in a stern voice.

Re: Ryu Hiroshi vs. Valley Doll III - Smells Like Teen Spirit
Valerie sat up fast after Ryu broke the hold, maybe a little too fast - she nearly smacked her face into his outstretched hand. It took her a good two seconds to realize that he was extending it to help her up and another two to stare at him with a quirked eyebrow. He respected her, she understood that, but she couldn't help but feel he was crossing the line into condescending, even if he didn't mean to. But then, maybe she was overthinking it. Wouldn’t be the first time she did that in a match.
She decided to roll with it after a moment of deliberation, and reached up to take the hand and let him help her up. She made sure to give him a tight grip, though, letting him know that she still had plenty in the tank to throw his way. This was far from over.
”I can. And thank you.” She popped up to her feet and bounced back on her heels as she rolled her neck about, doing her best work out the pain. That had been a closer call than she would’ve liked, and she had no intentions of letting it happen again.
She dropped back into her stance near the center of the ring and began to circle him once more, staying just outside of his range, trying to draw him in. Eyes forward, breath steady. Game on.

Re: Ryu Hiroshi vs. Valley Doll III - Smells Like Teen Spirit
As soon as he released her and got back up to her feet, Valerie would sit up. That caused his hand to just about graze her face by accident, Ryu was a bit surprised. She was that eager to get back in the game and sat up? The Dragon was still catching his breath, huffing and puffing as his bronze frame glistened in sweat but despite the blonde being on the receiving end of a couple of submissions she was still looking to spring back up and ready to go? Truly impressive. He still held his hand out to her and despite a few seconds of hesitation she would soon reach out to grab his hand, accepting his help to pull her back up.
Her grip was tight and it was clear that she was trying to send him a message with that. Ryu would respond by tightening his own grip before the two would let go and get back to action. Ryu and Valley would drop back into their respective wrestling stance near the ring, Ryu brought his arms forward and would bend his knees as he approached Valley. He noticed that she would attempt to stay out of his range, in hopes of drawing him in.
He would oblige, getting close and attempting to engage in a classic collar and elbow tie-up.

Re: Ryu Hiroshi vs. Valley Doll III - Smells Like Teen Spirit
Okay. Valerie had about two seconds before Ryu moved in again and tied up. Time to think this through a little.
She could try to take him on again, head on, but she was having second thoughts after that last exchange. Ryu was good, at least as good as her, and he had superior strength to back it up. This wasn’t like taking on her brother, she couldn't outmuscle him and bulldoze her way to a pin. It wasn’t even like the scrubs she sometimes came across in high school, where she could wrap them up on the mats.
No, she needed an edge, here. A little surprise.
She moved in as the two closed in on each other, looking ready for the tie up, only to duck down at the last second and come at Ryu with the last thing anyone would expect from a Valley Doll: an uppercut, aimed right at his midsection. She wasn’t a boxer by any realy means, but she could throw a strike well enough, with more than enough power to make it hurt.

Re: Ryu Hiroshi vs. Valley Doll III - Smells Like Teen Spirit
He would help her up but that was the only assistance she was getting from him because soon they would be getting back to business. Ryu only had one thing in mind and that was to prove to his opponent just why he was the seasoned veteran of this wrestling business and why he is simply the better wrestler. He would circle her, knees bent and arms out in front, he suspected that her pride and more importantly her wrestling style would not allow her to shy away from the challenge of grappling against him.
It seemed as if his hunch was right because she moved in towards him, ready for the tie up. When he lunged in however, Valley ducked under his arms at the last second leaving his guard completely open. His eyes widened and he gasped, before he felt that straight uppercut strike right into his midsection. The blow hurt, a lot more than he expected and a loud moan escaped from his mouth which would signal to his opponent that the damage was done.
"Guugh!" he cried, doubling over in front of her before falling down to one knee with his arm wrapped around his own midsection.
