Success.

A small one, to be fair, but one Valerie would accept nonetheless. While her gut still ached from the hellacious knee, pushing past the pain was worth it if she could gain even a momentary advantage on an opponent like this, and she was definitely successful on that front. Her foe was sent reeling near the ropes, a prime target, one she couldn't afford to ignore.

Valerie spun over to her chest, pushed up, and came rushing in on her foe, closing the distance with heavy steps. She waited until the last second, then threw her arms into Christina’s chest to land a stiff lariat, looking to knock her over the ropes and send her tumbling to the floor below.

Christina barely had time to lift her head before Valerie’s arm smashed into her chest like a battering ram. The lariat rocked her hard, sending her body whiplashing over the top rope. The crowd gasped, expecting her to crash to the floor — but Christina’s hands clamped tight on the top rope, knuckles whitening as she refused to go down.

With a sharp pull, she swung her legs up and powered herself over the top rope and back into the ring!

Valerie would have turned just in time to eat a sharp back elbow to the jaw, snapping her head aside. Christina grabbed her by the head and whip her between the ropes and onto the apron!

The Fighting Filipina took a step back, stomping her boots in rhythm with the roaring crowd before pivoting sharply. With one fierce swing, she snapped her leg up, aiming a blistering superkick at Valerie’s head to knock her clean off the apron and down to the floor!

While Valerie might have made that look easy, in truth, it was no small feat - launching Perez out of that ring had taken a lot out of her. But the woman would be stunned for a moment on the floor, which would give Valerie a few seconds to catch her breath, recoup, and-

Take an elbow to the face.

It hit clean, but the sheer surprise of it was what threw Valerie for a loop, leaving her stunned for a crucial moment. That was all the time Perez needed to pull her along and whip her out onto the ring apron, effectively reversing their position. By the time Valerie had regained her senses, it was too late, and she found herself tasting the bottom of her opponent’s shoe, as she ate a rough superkick to the face.

The blow sent her flailing off the apron, and she wound up falling to the floor below, hard on her back. While she didn’t stay down there for too long, she rose up slow and groggy, as the world around her came out of a fog.

Christina stayed in the ring, chest rising with controlled breaths as she watched Valerie hit the floor. The superkick had landed flush, and the Kyoto crowd roared their approval.

Christina didn’t rush after her. A waste of energy as she didn’t even look her way.

Instead, she turned her back deliberately and raised her arms to the crowd, rolling her shoulders with a slow, confident sway.

The audience reacted instantly — cheers swelling, phones lifting, the noise bouncing off the stained-glass walls of KBS Hall. Christina tapped the side of her boot with her hand, hyping them up, playing them perfectly. She knew Valerie was tough; she knew the rookie would want to drag herself back up and climb onto that apron and back in the ring.

And that was what Christina was gambling for to happen...

Once Valerie would try to enter the ring...Christina would attempt to suprize her with a quick turn and another superkick to stun the rookie on her feet!

…okay. Valerie could admit, this wasn’t exactly going the way she’d pictured it so far.

It was a little hard to think otherwise. The match had only just begun, and she had been outfought, outmaneuvered, and sent packing. She knew Perez was good, but she hadn't imagined the experience gap would be this much of a problem. She had fought veterans before and done well.

She shouldn’t overthink it. She needed to focus and get the job done. On that note, where was Perez, anyway?

Valerie expected the woman to come after her - it was what she would do, after all. Instead, she saw her opponent taking a moment rev up the crowd, playing up the applause. The urge to rush back in was strong, and Valerie would…but not without a game plan.

She slid in under the ropes, popped up, and-

Yup, a superkick. Valerie didn’t know exactly what Perez would try, but she kept her eyes open and ready for something, and was rewarded with a good opportunity. Her hands came up, clamped tight on Perez’s ankle, and stopped the blow in its tracks.

”Nope.”

With her grip secured, Valerie spun about, threw her body into a tailspin, and attempted to send Perez flying away with a Dragon Screw Legwhip.

Christina’s foot was a hair’s breadth from connecting when Valerie’s hands shot up and caught her ankle, stopping the kick dead. The rookie’s “Nope” hit Christina’s ears at the same moment she felt the sudden twist.

Before she could ground her balance, Valerie spun, and Christina was yanked sharply off her center of gravity—

WHIP!

Her leg was torn out from under her, and she hit the canvas on her side with a jolt, the torque shooting up through her knee and hip. A Dragon Screw always stung, and this one forced a grunt out of her as she clutched her leg for a heartbeat.

But only a heartbeat.

Christina rolled once, forcing herself to her elbows, then to her knee, refusing to stay grounded. Years of BJJ and chain wrestling had trained her body to recover fast, and she wasn’t about to give Valerie long to build momentum.

Still—she wasn’t up yet.
She had maybe a second more on one knee, leg still shaking off the twist.

Just enough of a window for Valerie to try something…

Before the Fighting Filipina pushed herself fully back to her feet!

Valerie’s world went into a spin, turning into a kaleidoscope as she twisted about. As a more grounded sort of wrestler, she wasn’t the best when it came to wild, fancy moves like this, but she could pull them out of her back pocket when the occasion called for it, and she could already tell this was going to be one of those matches where she needed to dig deep into her bag of tricks.

So far, that line of thinking was working well for her, as she sent Perez rolling with her Dragon Screw. The woman was a pro, recovering from it fairly quickly, and getting up to knee, but it wasn’t an advantageous position. Valerie could work with that.

She didn’t hesitate. Pushing up to her feet, she rushed in and closed the distance with several bold steps, thundering across the ring at mach speed. She waited until she was close, then leaped, raised her leg, and tried to ram her knee into Perez’s face at full speed.

Christina had just planted her boot on the canvas, pushing up from one knee, when a shadow closed in fast. She lifted her head—too late.

CRACK!!

Valerie’s knee smashed into Christina’s face with a sound so sharp it echoed through KBS Hall like a gunshot. The crowd recoiled in unison, a thunderous

“OOOHHH!”

rolling through the stained-glass arena.

Christina’s body snapped back from the impact before collapsing forward, dropping face-first onto the mat. Her hands clutched at the canvas as she reeled, breath momentarily knocked out of her, her vision swimming with white flashes.

The Fighting Filipina writhed on her stomach, one hand instinctively rising to her jaw while the other pressed against the mat to steady herself. The knee had landed flush, and Christina wasn’t just stunned—she was rattled.

The once-confident rhythm of the crowd now shifted into anxious murmurs, sensing that Valerie had just struck a real turning point… and Christina was down, dazed and vulnerable on the mat.

There. That was more like it. Christina, like most humans, did not take terrible well to getting kneed in the face. While Valerie was no striker, she had strong, powerful legs - as befitted a Valley Doll. She could put a good deal of force into a blow like that, and it was enough even to leave a veteran like Christina reeling. She dropped to her feet and stepped aside as the woman fell to her knees. Hurting, dazed, wide open.

Time to go to work.

With Christina laid out and on the floor. Valerie stepped over her downed body, planting her heels on both sides. She reached down, wrapped her arms around her foe’s waist, and proceeded to lift her clean off the canvas, summoning her back muscles as she hefted her straight off the canvas.

Valerie arched her back and pulled Christina up, over, and down with a powerful burst of strength, looking to hammer her into the canvas with a deadlift German Suplex - assuming that went off without a hitch, she’d post up after the impact and go for the pinfall. She doubted it would work this early in the match, but there was no harm in giving it a shot.

Christina hit the canvas hard, the deadlift German Suplex slamming through her spine like a lightning bolt. The ring shook beneath them, and the Kyoto crowd groaned in sympathy as Valerie bridged high and tight for the pin.

ONE!

Christina’s eyes snapped open...Not like this...
Not off a rookie’s first big gamble.

TWO!—

Christina exploded out of the pin, twisting her hips and kicking her legs free with enough force to break Valerie’s bridge and roll to her side. She didn’t just kick out — she fought out, refusing to let Valerie get even a sliver of momentum from the pinfall.

Flat on her back for a moment, chest rising, jaw still aching, Christina forced herself onto an elbow. Her expression was sharp, almost irritated beneath the pain — not at Valerie, but at herself for letting things get this tight, this fast.

She shook her head, resetting her focus as the crowd applauded the gritty escape. The Fighting Filipina wasn’t staying down this early...
