Zero Kotobuki vs. Avenging Angel - Pity, Remorse, and Fear

When Maria saw the Silent Knuckle coming, she tensed up, preparing for what could’ve been a finishing blow. It was early, damned early, and this Angel looked like a hardy woman, but there was a nonzero chance that this blow would be enough to finish things in record time. She’d seen Zero pull that off before. Sometimes it didn’t matter how hard you hit, but when you hit, and the worst kind of punch to take was one you didn't coming.

A lesson that Angel seemed to have learned well, because she was ready for it, blocking the blow at the last second. She countered quick, spinning about and send an elbow at Zero’s face, but the Massacre Ordinance was a little fast for that one - down she went, letting the blow whiz by overhead. A heavy shot, too, would’ve likely knocked her flat, and most women would’ve kept their distance after nearly getting decapitated.

Not Zero, never Zero. She stayed close, in the pocket, and lashed out again, this time swinging her leg low for a kick aimed at the side of Angel’s knee. Smart, trying to chop this tree down for the base.
