Sirya vs. Long Shin II - Arena Battle

With her claws, this woman was used to close-quarters combat; dangerous on the battlefield, but a style that had won her success as a gladiator in contests more openly known than this one. While her combat training had included grappling, it had never touched on holds quite so complex as this one - and whatever this position was, it was a debilitating one!

So too was the female fighter seeing how her own shortcomings were playing against her. While she had been swift and agile, her ability to take hits was less than what she could dish out, and she paled in terms of physical fitness compared to some of the other specimens on display in the impromptu arena. As Long began to crank back more on her ankle, she tossed her head, howling in pain. It felt as though her leg was burning, and even as she tried to thrash back and forth in the hopes of escaping, it only caused her to put more force on her own joint, drawing a louder scream still! She fell back, panting and gasping for breath. And as she heard Long's words, she began to realize her choices were few.

"Fine!! I give, I submit!!" she cried, her voice choked by her pain as she tried to escape her predicament in the only way she now could. However, the spectators were less merciful. While there may have been a ban against killing in this tournament, it seemed they were still hungry for carnage. "Break her leg! Break her leg!" they chanted to Long.

The deed was done and Long got his opponent to finally submit. He eased up on her ankle, but was then assaulted with the chanting of the crowd. Were the people in this world really that savage? Sure, people on Earth were like this, but this just seemed unnatural. The first encounter was with this girl who wanted to rob him of everything he owned, then these guys who kidnapped him in the middle of the night and forced him to fight in some barbaric tournament, and now these normal spectators wanted this poor girls leg broken... Long was sick to his stomach. He couldn't condone this sort of thing.

Long simply shook his head and released his opponent from the leg lock. He then gave a stern look to the crowd, but said nothing to them. As his battle was now over, there was nothing else for him to do but head back into the circle of other combatants. Once in his spot, he looked over at Sirya as if to say, "Just what kind of world is this?" Long then watched and see just who would step up next.

The woman, from where she was, looked back at Long with a curious glance as he let go of her leg, deciding not to push his position further. She hadn't expected to be treated with such mercy, and the decision to go without breaking her leg was confusing to her. Still, she wasn't one to mind it. She started to pick herself back up, panting for breath as she propped herself on her palms. But she still showed Long a smile, as if in thanks.

The crowds, however, were less amused and began to boo his display, their thirst for brutality not sated. However, the tournament's guards stepped in to guide the woman back to where the defeated warriors were resting, some watching the other battles proceed while others nurtured their wounds. She too sat, but she looked toward Long curiously, letting her gaze linger. For now, though, the ceremonies would continue - it was now Sirya's turn to step up and face her next opponent.

Sirya shouldered her spear as she came forward, grumbling a little to herself. "Just geddon with it," she muttered. And her opponent would then show himself - a tall, broad-shouldered man hefting an axe over his shoulder, with a horned helmet atop his head. A braided beard of golden hair hung from his chin, and he dressed in a hauberk of chain that fell to his knees. "Ho! A challenger dares to face a warrior of the north?" he boasted.

"Yeah. I think yer dumb," Sirya said succinctly. She leaned in closer, jabbing her spear for the warrior.

The tournament would continue on and the crowd began to settle down after Long showed mercy to his opponent and didn't go about their wishes. Long saw the look that she gave him and he smiled back at her and nodded his head. Just then though, Sirya would stand up and look for her next opponent. Long was actually quite curious to see who her next opponent would be and it wasn't long before he showed his face. To Long, the man looked like some sort of Viking warrior. Chiseled, hairy, and carrying a large weapon. Not only that, but he said that he was from the north as well. If this world was like his in any way, that would have sealed his theory.

Sirya, like always, wasn't one to mince words and just called him straight up dumb, "Ha ha ha! This little lady sure has a mouth on her! Come on, let's see what you are made of!" The viking, for lack of anything else Long could call him, would point his ax at her and then lift it up to rest it on his shoulder. He stared right into her eyes and watched to see what she would do first.

Even if the audience had been disappointed by Long's show of mercy, things now promised to fire up again as Sirya was next to take her place in the arena. After all, the girl had garnered plenty of attention in her earlier bouts; despite often going up against much larger warriors, she had taken them down all the same, proving herself to be quite a curiosity to those spectators desperate for new experiences. So too did Sirya have a ferocity in spite of her small size - surely, even if Long didn't have the brutal spirit they had expected, Sirya would more than make up for it.

As she faced her opponent, Sirya met him with her usual attitude, and was met with a curt dismissal for it. Grumbling, she folded her arms and stared the warrior down. "I got more than that, all right-!" she shouted, lowering her stance and shouldering her spear. She saw his guard was down, and he was waiting for her to make a move. Sirya knew this could be dangerous - but she had always relied on her speed, and right now, she was hoping it might be able to outstrip his ability to defend himself. She charged forward, spear at the ready to try and hit him with a running lunge, putting the momentum of her stride behind the blow!

Sirya would launch her attack onto her opponent and he didn't budge an inch. Her spear would sink deep into his hide and skin but... There was no reaction from the viking! Her opponent would look down at the spear and stab wound and watched as a little bit of blood would trickle down his body and a smile would slowly curl on his lips. "Oh ho! That was a nice shot there girl!" He would comment and then he would look at her face to see just what kind of reaction she had on it.

Sirya should have now noticed all the scars that were on his body. Countless lines and gouges of scar tissue as far as the eye could see on his exposed flesh. Who knows how many more were underneath his clothing. "Now it's my turn!" He would say before cocking back his right hand and then swung it sideways, trying to backhand her away!

Sirya's speed had served her well throughout this tournament, and she saw no reason why this would be any exception to that rule. Holding her spear ahead of her, blind to any consequences, she lunged forward, hoping to strike before her opponent could even make a move. Indeed, the point of the weapon found its place, piercing the northern warrior and drawing a trickle of blood. Feeling the point sink into his flesh, Sirya grinned, confident she had done something...

...Only for him to show no signs of being any worse for wear, laughing it off as though it was nothing! Sirya grit her teeth, tensing and biting her lip in frustration at how her plan had come up short. "Aww, c'mon-!" she barked, her fingers coiling tighter around the shaft of the spear. She stomped her foot on the ground. She couldn't even be honored by his compliment on her efforts; she was too disappointed that the blow hadn't done more!

In Sirya's frustration, too, she had let her guard down. All her metaphorical money was riding on being able to wound her foe with this strike, and now that he came off of it so easily, she was left wondering what to do next. And in that, she was open to take a swift slap from the back of his hand! The girl stumbled away from him, letting go of the spear as it clattered to the floor as her cloak whipped back in an arc along with the momentum of her body. "Gaah-!" she cried, bending over forward, stunned. Even if Sirya could hit fast and hard, taking damage was never her strong suit!

The man from the north watched as Sirya's body was slapped away from his and her spear falling harmlessly to the floor. The sound of it clanging and the smear of blood it left behind looked as though a painter accidentally dropped his paintbrush to the ground. "Looks like you added another nice scar to my body. I'll have to thank you for that later after our match!" He would boast with a hearty chuckle. The viking would then pick up her spear and toss it back over to Sirya, "Care to give it another shot?" He would say over to her with another laugh.

Sirya should be aware by now that any kind of poking or prodding with her spear wasn't going to be much use in this fight against him. No, she needed to get crafty and outwit this guy if she wanted to win. The good thing about a spear though is the functionality it has in a battle. Sure, it's main attraction is the blade at the end, but it can also be used as a blunt object or even a tool for choking. Could one of those options work? With the man from the north's anticipation for her to try and stab him again, maybe Sirya can use this as an advantage and trick him at the last moment.

At the sight of blood, the crowd lit up a cheer. To those accustomed to such brutality it was always a rush to see, and in a tournament like this one, where the participants were forbidden from killing, it was a rare, but not unappreciated, sight. Sirya, though, was less impressed. She rolled herself up onto her back, propping herself on her elbows to shoot a glare at her opponent. The girl clenched her teeth, brimming with fury inside of her. As far as Sirya was concerned, this was a personal insult, and it was one she wouldn't let go unpunished!

The warrior tossed Sirya's spear back to her, and her eyes fixed on the weapon. With keen agility, Sirya shot her hand up to grab the shaft in midair, causing a few of her supporters to cheer at the sight of her reaction speed. And still, Sirya wasn't appeased. She wouldn't be until she got back at him. The panther straightened herself back to her feet, snorting under her breath. But even as her foe was goading for her to strike, Sirya wasn't taking the bait. After her first attempt hadn't worked, she realized this was going to need a different approach. Luckily for Sirya, she was perfectly capable of using trickery when she had to!

Standing her ground, Sirya struck as confident and imposing a pose as she could manage given the discrepancy in size between the two, and beckoned the Viking closer. "Well? How about you? Yer a big scary warrior, aren't ya? Are ya gonna hit me, or just stand there?" Sirya hoped she could incite her opponent to charge - and if he did, she'd be ready!

As the warrior from the north threw Sirya's spear back at her, he was expecting it to fall to the ground, but Sirya's quick agility caught him off guard. He began to think to himself just how sharp her instincts must be to be able to snatch her spear out of mid air like that. He would then shrug and think nothing more of it. I didn't matter to him on how sharp her instincts might be, another blow like the one he gave her before would be more than enough to ensure his victory!

Just when he thought he baited her in for another strike, something quite unexpected happened. She spoke to him and actually wanted him to attack her! The viking would roar with laughter and then say, "Hahaha! You must want this match to be over with huh? Fine by me, I need a nice rest for my next match." He thought that his victory was all but assured now and he would clench the hilt of his weapon even tighter.

Taking a few steps forward towards Sirya, the warrior from the north would then let out a battle cry and rush right at Sirya! He aimed his axe up high towards the ceiling of the arena and was about to bring it down right on top of Sirya!
