Two Longtime Rivals, One Interview
LAW was proving to be an interesting place for Alaina since her mate 2017 comeback to wrestling. She was successful, but not to the degree she had hoped. In her mind this was title or bust. She wasn't back to show that she could be competitive.... she wanted to show that she was still the top woman in the industry age be damned.
Tonight she had an interview. It was to be on a. Stage set up in the public hallways of the arena. She signed autographs earlier in the day in her wrestling attire but left for an anniversary dinner with Charlie. That meant when the Amazon came back for the interview she was wearing a long royal blue dress with a slit up the side. It hugged her figure quite nicely. She has a small but nice diamond necklace on as well as sapphire earrings set in white gold along with her hair done up very nicely.
She saw LAW staff, greeting them as she was directed towards a stage. She was the first to arrive leaving her to wait for the interviewer and this mystery woman whom she was sharing the stage with.

Re: Two Longtime Rivals, One Interview
Dana Ashford had quite a storied career as a professional wrestler, and she had quite a lot of achievements over the years. It was safe to say that she had nothing else to prove at this point, but Dana wasn't known for her humility and contentment. Always eager for new challenges, Dana made her way into LAW and was determined to not only show that she could still be competitive despite her age, but also tell everyone that she was the top woman in the industry.
Tonight, she had an interview, and it had been a while since the last time she had one. Despite her reputation as one of those 'villainous' wrestlers out there, Dana definitely had no shortage of fans. And of course, the veteran was gracious enough to give her fans autographs and the like. For this occasion, she was wearing a dark green cocktail dress with a slit up the side. It definitely accentuated her curvy figure quite nicely. Her hair was also done quite nicely for the occasion.
Dana was then directed towards the stage where she would be interviewed alongside one mysterious woman. But, when she arrived, she recognized the mysterious woman, and she had a rather amused smile on her face as she placed her right hand on her waist. Approaching the well-dressed Alaina, she spoke, "My, my... now this is interesting..." She chuckled after saying that. "It's been a while, Ally..." she purred, winking at the Amazon whom she would be sharing the stage with.

Re: Two Longtime Rivals, One Interview
Alaina looked over as she saw an elegantly dressed Dana Ashford walking in of all people. Alaina tilted her head with both hands on her hips. Dana won their last encounter in such a way that it left a very sour taste in Alaina's mouth. "Dana. Nice to see you." She said, not entirely meaning it. Alaina saw a couple chairs on opposite sides of a small table with a chair in the middle. It wasn't long before a young man in a suit came in holding a number of cards in his hand.
"Ladies I am sorry for running late, if you could take a seat we will get our interview started immediately." He said as he sat in the middle, looking mostly at ease but a hint of nervousness appeared in his mannerisms. Alaina figured that perhaps he had done interviews such as this that had ended up as brawls with him in the middle. As much of a rival as Dana was there wasn't the pure animosity Alaina felt towards her that the amazon had for Karen Starring. She imagined this would remain civil, and would do her part to keep it that way.
As Alaina sat she smiled to the fans, winking at them and flexing an arm before sitting down to earn a pop from the crowd. She looked over at the interviewer and awaited his first question.
Before long once both women were seated he pulled out the first card. "All right the first question is directed at the both of you. Your first matchup was in London, England when a British promotion signed the rookie independent circuit powerhouse Alaina Sanders. What were your impressions of one another before and after that matchup?"
Alaina smiled and figured she would answer first. "Well it was April of 1999 so just about 20 years ago to the day! I was wrestling all over North America for a couple years at that point and held a few titles. I came over on a short 1 year contract because I wanted to wrestle in Europe. I was 24 and I was leaner than I am now but also I was lighter weighing 165lbs. I remember flexing and strutting down to the ring excited that my British debut was against a champion who was close to my age and size who used some questionable tactics. I went in with a head full of fire, and I feel like my intensity overwhelmed Dana early but she had more experience. She was smarter in the ring than I was at the time, and after a couple big counters I came up just short in my debut, and I remember feeling so dejected for starting off in England with a loss that the fire from that really helped propel me for the rest of my time there."

Re: Two Longtime Rivals, One Interview
Dana didn't know what to expect next, but she sure looked forward to everything that might transpire after this. Like Alaina, she also noticed the chairs there, though if she could help it, she would rather not get herself into some kind of brawl. She would try to remain civilized in this event.
Soon, the interviewer arrived, and like Alaina, Dana also took her seat, which was at the opposite side of the interviewer. Unlike Alaina, Dana gave the crowd a wink and a flying kiss, which did give her a pop. She listened to the question from the interviewer that was directed to both her and Alaina. It seemed that Alaina was the one to answer the question, and she listened to what she had to say, nodding her head a few times.
Then, it was Dana's turn to answer. "Let's see... I was 27 at that time, and I've been wrestling at Europe for at least five years since then. And at that time, I wasn't as thick as I am now," she giggled when she said that. "Hmm... I suppose both her and I had the similar builds around that time, though she was a bit leaner than me." She was referring to Alaina as she spoke.
"As for our first match-up, let's just say that she was quite a promising youth, which was quite a breath of fresh air around that time. Like she said, she did overwhelm me at the first few minutes of the match, but in the end, I was the one who emerged victorious..." She gave Alaina a smile. "And to be fair, I did want to win that match fair and square, but the circumstances required me to be... creative at that time..." she said with a shrug.

Re: Two Longtime Rivals, One Interview
The interviewer smiled and nodded along, taking note of the answers even though the whole thing was recorded by camera. He shuffled cards a bit and looked up, glancing at each woman. "All right, another question for both women once more. Name your favorite match against the woman sitting across from you that you were involved in, then decide another you enjoyed viewing as a fan."
Alaina shift in her seat and appeared to be thinking for a while. "My favorite one against Dana was in 2003. I spent time back in the USA and Mexico mostly after I left Europe in mid 2000. When I came back I fought my way in to a title match against Dana in Berlin, Germany. The crowd was neutral backing both of us equally. We were in a cage with that title on the line and I manage to walk out with the gold, although I think I hobbled out more than actually walked. That match took a toll on us both I think. I had a gash over my eye and Dana had a broken nose and a gash in her head that bled to the point you thought she had red hair not blond." Alaina said, recalling a nasty cage match for a European top tier title.
After another pause where she was in thought Alaina spoke up once more. "I think the best match I ever saw Dana in from a fans perspective was one that happened before I wrestled. It was 1995 where she defended a British title against Lisa Rampart, a lady whom I ended up slamming silly quite a few times. Lisa went all out against Dana but in the end Dana ended up winning cleanly with a series of offense that buried Lisa. I think I like Dana's clean matches more than her questionable ones haha!" Alaina said with a laugh but meaning every word of it.
Deep down she did appreciate Dana as a wrestler even if Dana did do things akin to what she did to Alaina in their LAW matchup. Sure, Alaina was hungry for payback but she also knew a great wrestler when she saw one.

Re: Two Longtime Rivals, One Interview
Dana listened to the interviewer, adjusting her position a bit as she crossed her legs while sitting. She listened to Alaina's answers first, flashing a smile as she remembered those matches that she had in the past. Feeling nostalgic for a bit, Dana would then take her time to think when it was her turn. "Hmm... well, the one that she mentioned is definitely in my top 10, but my personal favorite match with her was the one that we had in 2005 at Newcastle. You know the one, right Ally?" She smiled at her rival. "It was a Falls Count Anywhere match where we ended up bringing the match into the parking park. I think I still got the scar here when you shoved me face first into the windshield, though I'm still not sure how you're still conscious after I threw you down from the top of a car. It was a pretty fun match, though." She winked at the cameraman. "It ended with my win too, by the way."
As for the second question, Dana put some thought into it before she answered, "As for her best match, I think the best one was the triple-threat match against May Edelweiss and Satomi Yukimura in 2002. It was even voted the Best Match of the Year in the wrestling magazine. That year was pretty wild, though that match definitely stuck out..." While she definitely enjoyed annoying the other woman with her antics, there was no denying that Alaina was a great wrestler. While she would always keep up the appearance as the one with shadier disposition, she wouldn't hesitate to heap praises upon her rival.

Re: Two Longtime Rivals, One Interview
"Very well! All of those matches were quite enjoyable." The man cleared his throat and picked out another question.
"This is for both of you but I think it pertains to d
Dana more at the present time. You have a lot of family involved in wrestling, what are your thoughts on that? Are you happy about it or do you wish they did something else?"
Alaina shift in her chair and leaned in a bit to listen. Sure her kids wanted to wrestle but they also wanted to be astronauts, and dinosaur archaeologists depending on the day as the twins were 7 years old. Charlie used to wrestle before injuries caught up with him. Really Tina was like a surrogate daughter she could speak for to so.e extent and Dan was more of a trainer than wreslter. Dana going first gave Alaina time to think of her answer.

Re: Two Longtime Rivals, One Interview
As for the next question, Dana put some thoughts for the answer. After that, she looked at the interviewer before answering, "Well... I suppose I'm happy for the path they are pursuing, even though the path is professional wrestling." She sighed as she thought about her children; Ryan, Mara and Toni. There was also her future daughter-in-law, Michelle. Even her husband still had passion in wrestling even though he had retired due to his injuries catching up to him. "I wouldn't mind if they ended up choosing something else, but if they wish to follow the same path as me, then they have to strive for it..."
Dana looked rather contemplative as she continued. "I never made it a secret to them that professional wrestling isn't always about glory and winning. I always told them that wrestling can destroy them, mentally and physically. Take my husband as an example. He stopped wrestling after learning that he could potentially die if he ended up landing wrong. That is the reminder that I give to my children about the danger of wrestling..." She closed her eyes. This made the spectators momentarily forget that she was a ruthless villainess in the ring. "Of course, it's not like I'm holding back while training them either. If they're going to be wrestlers, there's no way I'm going to let them be half-assed about it."

Re: Two Longtime Rivals, One Interview
Alaina had long respected Dana in the ring when she fought cleanly, still hating it when she pulled a trick or dirty tactic to win. However she had grown to respect her that much more outside the ring especially when she heard her talk about her children as well as their career paths. After a moment it was Alaina's turn.
"I feel much the same way to be honest. I waited until my initial retirement to have kids with Charlie. He also retired due to injury but it was much less drastic. A speedy high flyer who had 2 reconstructive knee surgeries walked away since he felt he couldn't keep up the pace he wanted. My twins are only 7 years old so they change their mind as to what they want to do when they are older every hour. I think yesterday was a wrestler phase. The day before they wanted to be astronauts on Mars. I have a while before they worry me about legitimately trying to follow in my footsteps." Alaina said, adding a chuckle at the end.
"My nephew does more as a personal trainer for his clients than he does as a wrestler although Michelle took it to him pretty good in the ring. He is a good kid, and he was more or less like a son to us given what happened to his parents. I am happy that he finds more fun doing training than wrestling though, even if LAW brass has started to assign him matches. Finally Tina is sort of like a daughter and she is thriving here. I do worry about her since being middleweight champion puts a big target on her but I always want to help her out in any way I can." Alaina said, feeling like she answered the question. At least she hoped her answer was good.
The interviewer nodded and smiled, pulling out his next card. "All right ladies, given you both are older than much of the roster what are you goals as women in their 40s wrestling in an elite promotion like LAW where many women you compete against are young enough to be your daughters?" He asked, appearing nervous as if this was a question he was told to ask as opposed to something he wanted to ask. His tone of voice made it clear that he didn't find either woman to be "old" or anything like that.

Re: Two Longtime Rivals, One Interview
Dana just listened to Alaina's answer, smiling all the while. And soon after she was done, Dana looked back at the interviewer, listening to his next question. She giggled to herself upon sensing his nervousness while asking them that question. "Of course, it's not like we're getting any younger. Don't you agree, Ally?" She said to Alaina.
Dana brought her hand under her chin, making a thinking pose. "It is true that I have nothing else to prove. I've been wrestling around the globe for more than half my lifespan, so sitting back and relax is probably the best choice for someone like me. But, you see... wrestling is constantly evolving. There are many challenges out there from the young ones, and I'm not the one to stay at the sideline and be content to just watch everything unfolding before my eyes." Dana said, answering the interviewer's question.
Holding out a finger, she added, "So, simply put, I keep on wrestling because I can. It's simple as that." Then she laughed to herself. "Though my personal physician keeps pestering me to take it down a notch whenever I do some dangerous stunt in the ring. Like I said before, I'm not getting younger. There are limits on what I can do now that I'm in my late 40s..."
