Showing a Fun Time (for Devilish53)

Toshiko covered her mouth as she giggled, watching her do a little twirl in response to her compliment, looking alarmed for a second when she lost her footing. But fortunately, Viviana was back to her playful ways, which meant she was clearly okay. A smile crept on her face and much to her own surprise, she looked at her Italian friend with fondness when she forced herself to look like a fish. It reminded her of simpler times, bringing back some fond memories before she was forced into such a serious lifestyle. She remembered the pond by her home, making fishy faces herself as a child (although her method was different than Viviana's).

But after her fond look, Ito let out another giggle, propping her arm up on the bar table as she laid her head in her hand, thinking more wistfully on the rather silly metaphor. Her mind went to more serious thoughts, managing to collect itself from the light-hearted stupor she had been in. "Tosh Tosh the fish... swimming in circles in her bowl..." Her free finger twirled in a circle in front of her as her expression slowly turned more neutral. "Looking at the outside, not able to understand the world around her. Perhaps longing... somehow lost between glass walls with only herself to make sense of it, with what little understanding she has of it." She sighed softly, closing her eyes. For but a moment, her mouth slipped into a frown before her eyes shot back open.

Perhaps she had let her somber comments ruin the mood. ...Perhaps this meant she needed another drink. Maybe. She wasn't quite the expert on it compared to the pro she had assumed Viviana was on the matter. She sat back up straight and asked with earnest, "Do I need another drink?"

Viviana didn't need to hear all of Toshiko's mutter to know things were going a little sombre, arguably somewhat depressed, but she couldn't bring herself to stop her fellow giant. To her, doing so would give off a suggestion of sorts that she didn't care. A non-verbal 'shut up.' Instead, she perhaps got a little too close, literally, as both hands found themselves latched onto Toshiko's shoulders.

Pressing her face in from behind and to the side, a mere inch or so separated their cheeks from touching, regardless leaving Viviana's and Toshiko's own locks tickling upon one another.

"Let's get a few...Maybe some food too...Shall I ask if they have fish food?" She'd hum, unsure if it were wise to continue the joke.

Toshiko noticed that Viviana did not answer her rather innocuous question. Instead, the Italian grasped her shoulders and then moved her face close to hers. She paused, almost petrified. She normally never let someone violate that personal space of hers--or rather, intimate space as it were. She wasn't sure how to react, but fortunately for the Japanese martial artist, Viviana spoke to break her worry, with a joke peppered in.

It took a moment as she pondered the question. "Why fish...?" Her eyes widened in sudden understanding and she said, "Oh! Because I am a metaphorical fish! In the spirit of continuing the joke... yes. You may ask for fish food." She nodded with confidence, despite the fact that she may have stepped on the joke. "I do find myself rather hungry, now that you mention it..." It was a situation where Ito didn't realize her hunger until it was brought to her attention, and now her stomach, only full of alcohol at this point, gurgled quietly in agreement.

Innocent smile equipped, Viviana soon took the nearest bar-side menu to hand. Whilst the place they were in did not outwardly serve meals or such, there were enough options before the Italian to keep her amused. A plate of near enough anything she felt would sombre the mood, not to mention fill some rumbling tummies.

"Hmmm...No fish food...shucks...well we can hit the pet shop on the way home..." She'd grin, passing Toshiko the menu, which ranged from mostly onion rings, to cheese sticks, to dirty fries.

Toshiko tried peering at the menu on a much more subtle way than she ever used to. She was normally rather discreet when it came to even such a simple nosey task, but a mixture of the alcohol and feeling rather comfortable with Viviana. Then, she joked about fish food and it took a second for Ito to get it and let out a stifled laugh, a smile creasing her face once more. "I feel as though that might not be as filling. Because I am a very hungry... fish." was the immediate retort that she had.

She took the menu though and started to look it over. After starting at it for a short time, Toshiko said rather matter-of-factly, "I have no idea what any of this is." Her face scrunched up a bit, looking mildly concerned that she knew nothing on the app menu, except for something simple like wings. "...Why would anyone want a ring of onions? Or a stick of cheese? I think I've had fries before..." she thought to herself out loud. Then her eyes lit up as she exclaimed, "I know what nachos are though. They are... Dipping chips, yes?" asked Toshiko, making her best impression of someone dipping a chip. She had gone to a restaurant only a handful of times in her life, and she certainly didn't have the knowledge necessary for these greasy appetizer foods.

So Toshiko, much as she had done this entire night, deferred to Viviana for guidance. "Do you have a favorite?" She held the menu back out to her friend, hoping she could again lead the way and pick out a tasty food for them both.

'Now she's getting it!' - Rung out in Viviana's brain, as for perhaps the first time in since bumping into Toshiko, she had cut a seamless retort. Grin back on her face as she sat besides her once more after that brief snuggle against her back, Viviana peered to her side, reading the menu in Toshiko's hands after handing it to her.

"Ohhh...Yum.." Viviana muttered mostly to herself, noting that near enough every single thing on both pages was extremely greasy and/or fattening...but beyond delicious. Then, inadvertently answering the question Toshiko gave her with a outcry she was planning to deliver regardless, Viviana waved over the barkeep in tandem with it.

"Ohhh! There's a mixed platter!" Her non-motioning hand poking right at the bottom of the page, to a image of a large plate filled with near enough every appetiser Toshiko had mentioned.

Toshiko Ito looked slightly surprised when Viviana shouted about the mixed platter as she took a look at it. It had a lot of food that Toshiko would have never imagined eating herself, were she left to her own devices. But with the alcohol mixed in with her trying to extend herself tonight, she was open to giving it a try. She set the menu down and then said, "I shall look forward to trying this... 'apps'." She had to glance at the menu to remember what they were called, and she waited a moment before looking back to the Italian woman, seeming unsure as she went to speak again.

"This is fun, yes? You are having fun?" she asked the question in earnest. In honesty, Toshiko didn't really know exactly what it was like to have fun, but she had a feeling that at least for her, it was at least a good time to spend time with somebody who was willing to be friendly towards her. Her only concern was that Viviana may not be enjoying herself.

Watching as the barkeep strolled off, eagerly awaiting the food she imagined wouldn't take long given its nature, Viviana turned with a gleam to her face, one that could have answered Toshikos' question by itself.

"Of course! Are you?" She'd hum, shuffling up a little closer, before taking the last few drips of her drink to hand.

With a tiny, somewhat shy smile, Toshiko thought for a moment before nodding in response to Viviana. "I am," she answered quite simply. She noted the jovial look on the Italian powerhouse's face. It took away any doubt that Ito had and even emboldened her a little more. Ito cleared her throat and said, "This feels... different than I am used to. Most quality time I have spent with people entailed mutually fighting one another. So it is nice to just... speak. In a friendly manner. And do things like drink alcohol, which makes me feel very good, by the way." She accented her rather vulnerable moment with what she considered a small joke, perhaps in an effort to distract from that.

Taking a deep breath, Toshiko would then look at Viviana's drink and asked, more legitimately, "Does it perhaps not make you feel as good?" The Japanese girl truly didn't know if she was just special in that regard, but she had to assume Viviana wasn't impervious to its effects.

"Of course!" Viviana quickly shot back, before looking too at her own glass, and putting two and two together. "I'm just a slow drinker, that's all..." Her grin across her face, it was more that Viviana had ordered a drink far too strong for her straight off the bat, as opposed to her being the sort to take her time.

"And yeh...it's been a while...since I took had something like this...most of my time back home was spent either arguing around the dinner table with family...that or saying nothing at all..." Her hand coming behind her back, Viviana once again scratched an awkward itch that wasn't actually there.

"And I haven't really been here long enough to do this with coworkers...friends...and such..."
