A Brush With History [For Vcom]

Unread post by Luncha_Libre »

The curtain parted, allowing in the loud jeers of the audience as Victoria Faraday stepped backstage. Despite the fans’ loud disapproval, the veteran of the British wrestling scene was grinning from ear to ear. The self-styled Queen had just finished a dark match- a non-taped match, off the record books, usually done to warm up the crowd. Victoria’s latest victim was a hopeful, a rookie wanting to get signed. Victoria had been taking the match to see how she might enjoy the prospects of LAW’s mixed wrestling division, if squashing some young man would be as much fun for her as the trail of broken and battered bimbos she’d left in her wake had been.

Victoria snatched a towel from a nearby ring doctor and dabbed off the few beads of sweat she’d worked up beneath the bright arena lights. Victoria had some misgivings about taking on an unofficial match, but in the end taking that young man, splattering his lithely muscular body across all four corners of the ring and feeling his hopes of impressing management get crushed in her signature Coronation Street proved to be just as satisfying as any of the little ring bunnies she’d devastated over the years. He’d cried nearly as hard as they did, too …

Now, there was nothing left for Victoria to do, but head back to the locker room and change. It was a short night, but she was already composing an e-mail in her head to management. Soon next week, Victoria would be insisting on a promo, to let the boys of LAW know they had something new to worry about in the ring.

As always, Victoria enjoyed the stares from the rest of the locker room as she walked through the halls of the arena. The staff kept their distance, and the locker room kept an eye on her. Victoria’s generous curves and large frame gave her an imposing presence, and her reputation usually proceeded her. As Victoria walked through the halls, she enjoyed seeing the heads of other wrestlers, men and women, bowing before her, not wanting to make eye contact. Victoria slowed her pace, milking the moment, making certain that there was no one in this area of the LAW arena that was going to miss her presence.

The loud boos coming from the filling crowd in the LAW Complex arena would reach far to the backstage area, beyond the Gorilla Position where Lady Vic would step after her quick and vicious squash of her opponent...and reach the ears of a very short Brit standing fairly close by.

Alice had been walking around in the LAW Complex for the last hour, despite not having any matches on tonight's card...and her clothes showcasing that she wasn't likely to attack anyone, be it backstage or in the ring, as she was dressed in a simple combo of T-shirt and jeans. Whenever any worker asked about what she was doing there, she replied quite simply: "None of your business...", in a non-aggressive tone, but still prompting whoever asked to simply leave the Pale Rider alone.

Until finally, Lady Vic would slowly walk out of the Gorilla Position, with other wrestlers who were taking part in tonight's show bowing their heads to the British Legend, either out of respect or fear for how easily she defeated the rookie wrestler in the ring today...

...all except for the shortest woman in the hallway, who would not just not show respect to Victoria Faraday, but stand in front of the Heavyweight not letting her pass further. Lady Vic easily dwarfed Pale Rider, but that didn't seem to phase the Lightweight whatsoever:

"I thought Lady Vic was supposed to be the legend of British Wrestling...but legends are supposed to fight people their level, not just beat up some weaklings in the ring...unless that's literally all the grandma can handle by this point in time", Alice would disrespect the veteran further, smirking as she did so...

Lady Victoria loved the fact that, despite only having a handful of matches under her belt in LAW, she could still command this kind of deferral in the locker room. With her slowed pace and smirking attitude, the self-styled ‘Lady Vic’ soaked up every moment of nervous resentment around her, every bit of it even more satisfying than the jeers of those marks back in the arena.

That is, until Lady Vic saw one head going unbowed. For a moment, the British heavyweight stopped in her tracks, her eyes narrowing as she sized up the one girl in the hallways that was looking directly at her. Short, dressed simply in a t-shirt and jeans. Short haired, with a fairly distinctive scar that knicked her face over one eye. Someone that Lady Vic wouldn’t find terribly imposing, at least not with her build … if not for the reputation this young woman had built in the deathmatch scene. Even if that wouldn’t have been the first place that Victoria would have recognized the young woman from ...

The girl got right in Victoria’s path, and was clearly not going to budge. Victoria slowed her pace until she came to a full stop, her impressive chest just inches from the girl’s face. Through narrowed eyes, Victoria looked the girl up and down, sizing her up. The girl was unflinching, even given their proximity. She spoke confidently, insulting the Blackpool Women’s Champion without so much as a quiver in her voice!

“Hmm,” Victoria’s lip curled up in a sneer. “Am I supposed to know you, little girl? Did you lose your mum?” Victoria literally turned up her nose, then, keeping her eyes on Alice as she put a little extra emphasis on the word ‘mum’ as she placed her hands imperiously on her hips.

Alice has gained a bit of notoriety on both the worldwide indie scene, and the deathmatch scene, even winning main titles of a couple of smaller promotions...but barely enough for many people to have heard of her prior to her joining LAW...

...and now she was standing, face to face (or rather, face to bust), to one of the women she grew up watching, rallying for her defeat every time she watched her as a child, insulting her to her face...

...and getting quite a hardy, yet simple comeback, one that made it clear that not just Alice, but both women knew who the other was, despite Alice's relatively smaller infamy. And to Lady Vic's words...Alice could only just smile and let out a short, slightly sinister chuckle to the older lady's face:

"Ahahahah...that's...actually perfect. I hate being too dramatic...I can jump straight to the point."

"You and me. One on one, standard match, next week. The little girl will do what mum couldn't...what do you say?"
, the Pale Rider would ask the veteran Heavyweight, highlighting her words by poking Victoria in her large chest...

Victoria’s smug veneer didn’t crack under Alice’s scrutiny. Around them, staff and wrestlers alike took some wide steps to avoid having to come anywhere near the two during their standoff. Victoria stood her ground, looming over Alice with her larger frame and imperious presence. Alice, however, didn’t flinch.

The encounter would have seemed rather random to much of the LAW locker room. Competing in separate weight classes, never having shared a ring before, Alice and Victoria had no history with one another here in Japan. But this wasn’t Japan.

It might have taken just a moment, but Victoria recognized the young deathmatch fighter almost immediately. Scar or no, Victoria had seen that face at ringside and next to locker rooms for years. Of course, “Lady Vic” followed the careers of most legacies from the UK. Especially the ones she had a connection with.

“Hmm,” Victoria sounded dismissive, as she turned her head downward to watch Alice poke her finger into the soft tissue of Victoria’s ample chest. A few strands of blonde hair fell over Victoria’s face, as she turned her gaze back toward Alice.

“Well, little girl,” Victoria said, “That’s an awfully tempting offer. Looks like some folks could use a bit of a history lesson. Because you know, those that don’t know their history …” Victoria left the implication open, trailing off. “You’ve got it, girl. You can say hi to your mum from me, since you’ll be joining her beneath me.”

Even thought Alice wasn't letting it show on her face, she was nervous as Lady Vic thought about her challenge. The day she learnt Victoria Faraday was in LAW, she tried to arrange the meeting with the woman as quickly as she could...but something, be it a match at a house show in different part of Japan, or the British Legend not being booked on the cards she competed in LAW Complex on that day, cropped up and ruined her plans to encounter the Heavyweight. And to wait these last few weeks...months even, just to hear a "no" from the Legend?

...that, however, would not turn out to be the case. Victoria would accept Alice's challenge...with sinister words about beating the lightweight to boot:

"Heh...I am not one of these lightweights for heavyweights to slaughter, Faraday. I slew many a giant...a couple that even she failed to...and I have to...no, I will make sure that you join that list next week...", she would promise, as she got on her tippy toes to get into her future opponent's face...

...before she turned her back on Lady Vic, and left for the LAW Booker's office to make the match official...
