My New Nemesis - Blonde Blazer vs. Spectre

Post by Letta »

Standard Match: Winner decided by Pinfall, Submission, or KO

Blonde Blazer had begun her LAW career with a victory, bringing her debut to a successful close. Now, she stood in the gorilla position, waiting for the signal to make her entrance. Waiting, however, did not mean standing still. She repeatedly leaned forward as though she might burst through the curtain at any second, only to pull herself back again. The toe of her boot tapped restlessly against the floor, making her eagerness painfully obvious to everyone nearby. “Is it time...?” A staff member hurriedly waved both hands. “Ahh... not yet?”

Blazer froze in the very posture she had been about to sprint from, then straightened herself with an awkward smile. Her attempt at patience lasted only a few seconds. Her eyes remained fixed on the curtain, and the steady tapping of her boot never truly stopped. At last, the staff member pointed forward. That was the signal. Blonde Blazer immediately charged through the curtain and onto the stage!

An upbeat synth-pop theme filled the arena as golden pyrotechnics erupted on either side of the entranceway. Emerging between the bursts of light, Blazer came to a sudden stop at center stage. She planted both hands firmly on her hips, thrust out her chest, and raised her chin in the classic pose of a noble hero. For several moments, she held the stern and imposing stance without breaking character. At least until the next beat of the music. A bright smile quickly spread across her face, and all traces of her earlier solemnity vanished as Blazer began making her way down the ramp with light, energetic steps. She leaned from one side to the other, determined not to miss a single outstretched hand as she exchanged high fives with as many fans as possible.

As she continued toward the ring, Blazer gradually realized that something felt different. The cheers directed toward her were unmistakably louder than they had been during her first match. There were more signs bearing her name and symbol scattered throughout the crowd as well. Some had “GO, BLAZER!” written across them in uneven lettering, while others featured hand-drawn versions of her heroic pose. Each one she noticed made her smile grow a little wider. They were proof that she could become someone’s hero here too. Her heart began to pound with excitement.

Blazer climbed onto the apron with a powerful stride and slipped between the ropes. Without slowing down, she raced toward the opposite corner and quickly climbed onto the turnbuckle. She brought both hands to her lips, turning her body from left to right as she blew kisses across the cheering audience, and the crowd answered with an even louder roar. Blazer hopped down from the turnbuckle and began loosening herself up, rolling her shoulders and stretching her legs as she paced around the ring. Before long, her gaze settled on the still-empty entranceway.

The name of her opponent tonight was Spectre. From what Blazer had heard, Spectre was a very, very notorious villain. And that was everything Blonde Blazer knew about her. Studying an opponent’s previous matches, analyzing their techniques, and constructing a detailed strategy were all thoroughly opposed to Blazer’s natural approach. She was no meticulous tactician. She had always preferred to confront whatever stood before her head-on, solving most problems with sufficient courage and overwhelming strength.

Of course, she had heard that Spectre was not merely a wrestler pretending to be a villain. There were rumors of crimes, dangerous incidents, and genuine acts of terror attached to her name. By every account, Spectre was the real thing. Yet instead of frightening Blazer, that knowledge only made her more excited. This was precisely the kind of confrontation she had dreamed about for years. A brightly shining hero against a villain feared by everyone. Who could have expected such a perfect matchup to arrive in only her second match? Rather than worrying about how dangerous Spectre might be, Blazer found herself imagining how spectacular it would be to defeat a true villain and give the audience a moment they would never forget.

The possibility that her opponent might be exceptionally strong did not seem to concern her either. To this endlessly optimistic woman, a villain’s reputation was not a warning. It merely meant the story would become even greater once she brought them down. Blonde Blazer planted both fists against her hips and stared proudly toward the entranceway, a confident smile spread across her face. All that remained was for the villain to appear.

Three obnoxiously long beeps arrested the stadium’s speakers. A low-descending woop overpowered speakers to the point it was dominant over anything else. An automated voice began to speak… “Attention. Attention. An emergency incident has occurred inside the building. This is not a drill. Please remain—”

The audio started failing to static. The tone warped, slowed, broke, then became the garbled gibberish of televisions. The lines of red, green and blue going up and down the black and white picture. One pyro launcher disconnected from its mount on the stage's side, then fell down onto the stadium floor. With its electronics still intact, it released a spire of purple flame against the concrete towards an exit and row section. The nearest ranks of pigs herded away from the heat. More pyro projectors fell from their unscrewed brackets. As if possessed. Then they too threw spires and created a radius of untouchable heat. The pyrotechnics killed them all from their control board after some shock and awe. The smell of burnt wires and smoke fresh. A local mania sparked from pale faces and screams from a few that led to shouts from more. The production staff and security was eager to restore order. Fervent in keeping the show operating and not let an entire show fall to antics. But shared amongst the flock of deplorables was a prayer, no doubt—that this was the end of danger. A few onlookers started to point out the slow change to the Titantron’s display. The Chrome Skull developed amidst the static…

“The show is now MINE!" The audio-breaking phrase echoed in a feedback loop to a painful nub. Like stubbing all their fingers and toes, get a muscle spasm and suddenly feel ill. When the voice fell to the backdrop, the stadium’s lights faded to black, centering the focus on the flashing eyes of the Chrome Skull and low woop.

“Attention. Attention.” Said the automated voice again.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!! Sparks erupted under the Titantron screen. Exaggerated by sparklers joined to its supporting scaffold. It continued long enough for a mystery to descend upon winch, hook and cable from the sky.

( Thwump! )

An impact jostled the ring.

landed inside the ring, knees bent, hips low and hands piled on the ground in-front. Where was the million dollar question. And there would be no time to ponder. Like the curtain unveiled, the lights returned to full capacity to show the impending peril. The crowd gasped! A wave of samaritans warned with hand waves and exaggerated gestures to get Blonde Blazer to turn around. But Dot struck now. She sought to tangle Blonde Blazer’s hair into her fingers. Nails to the scalp. knee with explosive ferocity between the enemy’s legs.

With her heart pounding from a mix of excitement and nervous anticipation, Blazer kept her eyes fixed on the stage where her opponent was supposed to appear. Then came the sudden, obnoxiously long beep blaring through the arena speakers. Blazer’s eyes widened as they darted around the stadium in surprise. Yet rather than worry or tension, an amused smile crept across her face. An emergency announcement echoing through the arena. Static swallowing the voice. Colored lines dancing wildly across the giant screen. And with each new layer of theatrics, BB’s smile only grew wider...! Wow... she really went all out for this! At least, that was what Blazer thought. In her mind, this was simply an incredibly elaborate villain entrance.

But that attitude began to change. One of the pyro launchers, something that should have been firmly secured in place, suddenly broke loose and crashed onto the arena floor. Smoke and flame burst from it, close enough now to threaten the nearby crowd...! The smile slowly faded from BB’s face. This is... still part of the act, right...? It was possible. Maybe the people closest to it were in on the performance. Maybe this had all been carefully rehearsed beforehand. That explanation made sense. Mostly. But even then, she could not quite shake the uneasy feeling beginning to settle in her chest.

And when more pyro launchers came crashing down from their mounts, spewing even larger pillars of flame, BB’s expression turned from uncertainty to outright alarm. This was getting harder and harder to dismiss. Fans were recoiling in fear. Some were shouting, others scrambling away from the heat. Blazer immediately grabbed the ropes. Whatever this was, she could not just stand there and watch people get hurt. She was just about to slip out of the ring and rush toward the crowd when the pyro suddenly died. At the same time, security and staff began pouring into the affected area to deal with the commotion. Blazer hesitated, watching them with narrowed, suspicious eyes. Only after a reluctant pause did she step fully back into the ring. “What in the world is going on...?” By now, there was no trace of the excitement or cheerful anticipation she had shown only moments earlier.

Then the Chrome Skull appeared across the giant screen. When the distorted, broken voice screamed through the speakers, BB winced and clapped both hands over her ears. Soon, sparks erupted beneath the Titantron, and through the shower of light, a mysterious figure began slowly descending from above. Blazer narrowed her eyes, her entire focus locking onto the strange opponent coming down toward the stage. But then the crowd began shouting at her, waving frantically and trying desperately to get her attention. They were telling her to turn around. Blazer frowned in confusion. Her opponent was right there... so why were they telling her to look behind her...? and then...

“AAAAAHH!!”

A rough hand suddenly seized a fistful of BB’s silky blonde hair and yanked hard! Blazer screamed as sharp pain tore across her scalp, her head jerking backward from the violent pull. She immediately bent forward and reached up, grabbing at the attacker’s wrist with both hands in an attempt to pry those fingers loose. But the next attack came first. A vicious knee drove straight up between BB’s legs...! Her eyes shot wide open as a strangled groan escaped her lips.

“UUGH...!”

Both hands immediately dropped between her thighs as her legs squeezed tightly together. The strength seemed to drain from her lower body all at once, and Blonde Blazer sank down onto both knees, shoulders curling inward as she fought through the sudden, brutal pain. Had the mystery attacker not still been holding her by the hair, BB likely would have collapsed face first onto the mat right then and there...!
