The Idol’s Challenge - Amika vs ??

Post by The_Queen »

Match Type: Standard
Condition: Victory By K.O, Submission, Pinfall
Note: This is an open RP match, meaning anyone can jump into this match. It’s first come, first served, so whoever replies first will be the one my girl Amika is facing. If you want more details, please send me a message to her on the site since Discord is messed up rn.

The locker room was considerably quieter than the arena beyond it, but not nearly quiet enough to hide the distant roar of the crowd. Every so often, a particularly loud cheer managed to penetrate the concrete walls, reminding Amika Ishibe exactly what was waiting for her on the other side. Sitting on one of the benches in front of her locker, Amika bounced one leg impatiently while making the last few adjustments to her gear. She'd performed in front of enormous crowds before. She'd stood beneath blinding stage lights, sung live with thousands of eyes fixed upon her, and somehow managed to smile through all the pressure that came with being an idol. Yet tonight, her stomach was filled with butterflies.

This wasn't another concert. This wasn't an exhibition match, either. Tonight marked Amika Ishibe's official debut as a wrestler in LAW.

And she didn't even know who she was wrestling.

Amika took a deep breath before puffing out her cheeks and slowly releasing it. Her teal eyes drifted toward the nearby mirror. For just a moment, the endlessly cheerful former idol looked unusually serious as she stared back at herself. Months of training had led her here. Early mornings, exhausting practices, countless bumps and bruises, and probably more failed attempts at flashy wrestling moves than she'd ever admit publicly. All because she'd made one ridiculous promise during a livestream.

Anything was possible if you were willing to work for it.

At the time, she'd simply wanted to inspire people. Now she actually had to prove it.

Her serious expression lasted approximately three more seconds before a bright smile returned to her face. Amika sprang to her feet and slapped both hands lightly against her cheeks.

"Okay! No getting nervous now! You've trained for this. You've worked really, really hard for this!" Amika encouraged herself, pumping both fists in front of her chest. "Besides, everyone's waiting! It'd be pretty embarrassing if their new wrestling idol spent her debut hiding in the locker room!"

Amika giggled at the thought before heading for the door.

Of course, there was one little detail that made tonight considerably different from a normal debut. LAW hadn't given Amika an opponent. Instead, the former idol had eagerly agreed to make her first official appearance an open challenge. It was probably an unnecessarily risky way to introduce herself to the promotion, but that was precisely why Amika had loved the idea. She had spent so long telling her fans that they shouldn't run away from challenges just because they seemed scary. How could she possibly make an exception for herself now?

The moment Amika reached the entrance area and heard the audience on the other side, whatever nervousness remained seemed to transform into pure energy. A familiar smile stretched across her face. This part she knew.

The arena lights suddenly dimmed.

Amika's entrance music burst through the speakers, immediately drawing the audience's attention toward the stage. Bright lights swept across the arena before finally converging on the entrance, and after deliberately making the audience wait those few extra seconds, Amika came bounding through the curtain.

"LAW! Hiiiiiiii!"

Amika threw both arms enthusiastically above her head as she greeted the audience, practically hopping in place before flashing them her signature peace sign. There was no attempt at looking intimidating. No cold stare toward the ring or dramatic effort to convince everyone she was the toughest wrestler in the building. Instead, Amika looked like she was having the time of her life simply being there.

She began making her way down the entrance ramp, but taking a straight path toward the ring apparently wasn't exciting enough for her. Amika zigzagged from one side of the barricade to the other, exchanging high-fives with whatever outstretched hands she could reach. Whenever somebody called her name, she enthusiastically waved in their direction. Years spent as an idol made interacting with a crowd practically second nature, but there was something different about tonight. These weren't merely fans coming to watch Amika Ishibe perform.

They were about to watch her wrestle.

Reaching ringside, Amika briefly stopped and looked up at the ring. Her smile softened. For the first time since emerging from backstage, she simply stood there and took in the sight before her. LAW's ring. The place she'd dreamed about reaching throughout all those months of training.
Then the excitement returned.

Amika grabbed the middle rope and hopped onto the apron before slipping between the ropes. Immediately, she rushed toward the opposite side and climbed onto the middle turnbuckle, raising both hands above her head as she soaked in the crowd's reaction. Turning around, she repeated the gesture toward another section of the arena before hopping lightly back down to the canvas.

She bounced several times on the balls of her feet, testing the ring beneath her before jogging toward the ropes. Amika hit them with her back and allowed them to propel her forward, sprinting across the ring and rebounding off the opposite side. After another pass, she abruptly stopped herself in the center and spun around with both arms extended, almost turning the warm-up into a tiny dance routine.

"Perfect!"

Satisfied, Amika headed toward the ropes and requested a microphone. Once it was passed to her, she returned to the middle of the ring. The former idol waited for the audience to settle, although the enormous grin on her face suggested she wasn't particularly bothered by the noise.

"Okay, okay! First..." Amika began before suddenly bowing deeply toward the audience. "Thank you so much for coming!"

Straightening again, she held the microphone with both hands.

"For anyone who doesn't know me yet, my name is Amika Ishibe! Some of you might remember me from a slightly different kind of stage..." She gave the audience a playful wink. "But starting tonight, I'm officially a wrestler at one of the biggest leagues in the world!"

Amika paused as the announcement drew another reaction from the crowd. She practically glowed at the response, rocking excitedly onto the tips of her toes.

"I've spent a really long time preparing for this. And I know there are probably people wondering if an idol like me actually belongs in a wrestling ring." Amika tilted her head thoughtfully before giving a small shrug. "And... maybe you're right! I guess we'll have to find out together!"
She giggled before continuing.

"But I promised everyone who supported me that I would never turn away from a challenge just because it looked difficult. That's why I didn't want my first match to be against somebody I already knew everything about. I wanted my very first LAW match to be against..." Amika dramatically swept one arm toward the entrance ramp. "...anyone!"

The crowd's reaction brought an even wider smile to her face.

"So, whoever is back there listening, this is your invitation! Big, small, rookie, veteran—I don't care! If you want to be the first person to face Amika Ishibe in LAW, come on down!"

Amika lowered the microphone before suddenly raising one finger.

"Oh! But we're having a good, clean match, okay?" she quickly added with an almost comically stern expression. "And whoever wins, no being a sore loser! That includes me!"

With that settled, Amika handed the microphone back through the ropes and skipped toward her corner. She climbed onto the middle turnbuckle and sat herself atop it, crossing one leg over the other while facing the entrance ramp. Her fingers drummed impatiently against her knee as she waited to discover exactly who had decided to answer her challenge.

Despite her relaxed pose, her heart was pounding.

This was it.

No carefully selected opponent. No exhibition. No safety net. Whoever walked through that curtain would become Amika Ishibe's first opponent in LAW, and she'd have to figure them out after the bell rang.

Yet when Amika rested her chin against one hand and watched the entrance with bright, expectant teal eyes, there wasn't a hint of regret on her face. Instead, she smiled. All she could do now was wait and see who would answer.

Re: The Idol’s Challenge - Amika vs ??

Post by CyanDimitrik »

Bandita has had an active, if not explosive, string of matches to set her pace in the LAW federation. First a cowgirl, then a French beauty queen on the beach, an idol singer, a nice shy little sapphire chick, and then a fancy aristocrat. Each had a very distinct personality, each had a distinct look, each brought something very different to the ring. And no matter how the match went, where she made mis-steps or where she strode with acclaim, it left an impression on the audience. On the management.

Impressions here means success, no matter what else. The name of the game is to get people talking about you, to get your name in their mouth. That's the good kind of pressure booking needs to keep you in the ring, to keep you earning. And earning is Bandita's top priority!

Tonight, however, she wasn't scheduled for a match. The luchadora was asked to come in for an interview, to recap everything that's happened since she's come to Japan. It's a 'puff piece', as she's come to understand it. Not something she did too often back in México, but she's eager to try. All it requires is speaking from the heart! But with that being the case, Nana Lola opted to keep her siblings at home to get them into bed early tonight; they have to get their sleep schedules straightened out for school to begin again. But it's fine. They won't be missing much!

Decked out in her entrance attire consisting of her wrestling gear with an added bolero hat, flamenco skirt, and coiled leather bullwhip held secure in her left hand, Bandita contented herself to wait for her moment backstage. Her eyes rest glued to the monitor, watching the evening's bouts with interest. After all, any one of these people could be her next opponent! Just because she isn't getting in the ring tonight doesn't mean she gets to take the night off!

Just then, a promo seemed to kick off. The focus of attention is apparently a new girl, kind'a mousy, very cute, with a sweet face and easy charm with the audience. She's wearing what looks like one of those idol outfits, too! Just less frilly than she's seen on others. If she's being honest with herself, she prefers the less frilly approach. The more frills, the more juvenile the look came across to her. This one's dressed sensible, but fashionable. She's even showing a little midriff! ...A little midriff, and all the leg. Ayayay...

Bandita leans forward in her chair, listening curiously. And then she's reaching back to snatch her cellphone to try to rapid-fire translate what she's hearing. She's picking up bits and pieces as fast as she can!

Amika Ishibe. Something about a stage. Wrestler.

The crowd is applauding her. She's with it so far, she thinks!

Something, something.. idol! Ah, she was right! And wrestling ring, she's caught that one. As the teen on-screen tilts her head in theatrical consideration, Bandita focuses on her phone to get ready for the next bit! ..Something, something, together. Nope. Did not get that.

Support... challenge... difficult. Match! She knows that word! LAW match! Against! ...Bandita is on the edge of her seat! These are familiar words to her!

...anyone!

...wait, anyone?

The crowd is giving an ovation of a reaction, and Bandita sits back in her chair with a confused tilt of her own head. Is she making an open call-out? An open challenge? On her debut? The rogue quickly taps at her screen, then presents the translated question to a nearby techie: <<Is she doing an open challenge?>>

The technician nods, his eyebrows raised.

Bandita looks back to the screen, then her phone. Then the screen. The brunette is still talking, but it sounds like she's wrapping up.

As the seconds tick on, those bright hazel-green eyes flit to the technician in question. He responds with a shrug. She looks back to the screen as tension builds in the arena. In the audience. No doubt in Amika. Certainly in Bandita. Until finally, the Latina shoots to her full height with enough determined force that the folding chair falls over behind her.

Her promo will have to wait.

...

Suddenly, the arena lights dim down. A
rolls through the sound system, and the screens come alive with a fiery motif. Burnished, stylized western text scrolls across the screen.

VIVA
BANDITA

As the track kicks in with percussion, the curtains are thrown back and Bandita emerges from the shadows! The girl comes to a halt at the top of the ramp, left leg poised forward through the slit of her flamenco skirt. With her head angled low, the wide brim of her bolero hat casts a thick shadow over her visage, leaving only the smirking lips of the Latina visible. The heel of the boot taps with the beat, two, three, four, and with a flare of the skirt, she's a whirl of graceful motion and poise. Head back, one arm high, her steps bring her to pivot and whirl in a rumba dance.

She swaps arms, raising the right where she seamlessly transfers the coiled whip into that palm. With a skirt-flaring twirl, the whip suddenly *SNAP*s out at the air! And as she dances, the whip becomes her serpentine partner! *SNAP!* *SNAP!* Coiling around her, swirling like a helix about her slender frame, every lash a part of the rhythm, every miniature sonic boom a punctuation point in the music. Great gouts of flaming pyros erupt along the stage's perimeter, bathing her, her intricate dance, and the nearest several rows of chairs in a warm orange glow.
SNAP! SNAP! SNAP!
With a flick of the wrist, the whip curls back in on itself. The fringed tip rolls into the leather braids, tumbling over and over before snatched and secured with her palm in a neat bundle. Her arms are thrown wide, head tipped back, radiant smile on her face as she presents herself to the roaring audience, thrilled with the spectacle and finesse.

And then she's off! Dashing with purpose, strong legs pumping, skirt flaring out with the movement. She skirts around the ring's perimeter to set her coiled whip down upon the commentator's table, her hat settled atop that neatly. She helps herself to one of the microphones with a perky wink towards one of the commentators, and finally moves back to the ring to roll beneath the bottom rope.

Upon popping up to her full height, Bandita sweeps her free hand over the lengthy skirt to smooth out the ruffles. Pat, pat. And then, the microphone is raised.

"Hola a todos~!," she calls in Spanish.

Fortunately, an announcer is quick to translate everything the girl says into Japanese for her.

"I was scheduled for an interview tonight!," the masked girl begins, smiling sweetly out at the crowd. "But what am I supposed to say? Talk about where I grew up? That it wasn't easy? That if I didn't have the love and support of my family, that I wouldn't be here now?"

She turns to face the other side of the arena before continuing: "Or maybe I was going to talk about what it's been like since coming to Japan? How it's been beyond words, meeting so many amazing people, the beautiful city! You beautiful fans!"

She pauses as the crowd roars their response back to her.

"Maybe it would be to express my gratitude. To you all, for welcoming me to your country, into your arena. To the managers and bookers who saw something in me all the way back at Cancún, to the ones who gave me a shot to chase a dream."

"Or maybe...!"

Bandita suddenly whirls around to face Amika, her smile taking an impish edge at the corners.

"...it's to you! Amika Ishide! For giving me the opportunity to give these people what they really want tonight! Which is red! Hot! Action!"

She takes a couple steps closer to the other girl, her eyes bright and searching the other girl's. In this precise moment, she realizes just how much taller she is than her. That's almost never happened before! It's enough to merit a quick once-over, scanning the girl from her big pretty eyes down to her boots and back up again - hopefully too quick to be noticed!

"I'm one of the newer girls here in LAW, too. My name is Bandita. And it would be an honor to give you your very first official match in this federation." She pauses, canting her head. "Will you accept my challenge?"

The microphone lowers, coming to rest between both her hands. And now, with her voice no longer being amplified or translated by an announcer, the Latina addresses Amika directly in English: "And, um, do you... speak English?" Her voice is soft, sweet, and honeyed with a rich Spanish accent that leans heavily on the vowels and bites onto consonant clusters.
