Elena parked her red Vespa in the midst of a sea of automobiles near the open-ground currently in the bubble of a completely different era and time. And the people scampering in and out of the area were a major reason the entire area seemed to have rolled back the clock to centuries before.
The Renaissance Fair was in town, and going on in full swing, which the blonde had just discovered, while in the midst of her regular excursions around Tokyo. Usually, she would be accompanied by her best friend for such outings, but she couldn't make it today owing to a few errands. Thus, Elena was on her own, and this fair slotted right into today's 'itinerary'.
The closer she got to the activity, the more it felt like she had been transported into another time. Dirt paths, wooden stalls, banners, lanterns, people dressed up as blacksmiths, knights, nobles, tavern wenches — over whom Elena's gaze lingered to appreciate, and more brought the kind of authenticity that guaranteed a fulfilling experience of the Renaissance era.
And the aroma of the roasted meat and ale only sought to elevate the entire vibe of the fair, even managing to elevate the rumbling in Elena's stomach. And off she went to gorge on some of the medieval delights.
She found herself on the road to explore more of the festival, passing by jesters, artisans, fortune-tellers, including one who ran a food stall from where Elena purchased an assortment of tarts and macarons, and got her fortune told for free. Something about an unexpected opportunity and good company, which the blonde didn't pay much heed to and nodded along.
That's when she spotted it. Something that stood out from the rest of the hustle and bustle going on. A fenced-off space, set up specifically to teach people the ways of medieval combat. Bows, Axes, Halberds, Shields, and much more were scattered about on the other side of the fence, with not many people around. It appeared as if the stall was currently on a break. The right time to do some digging.
And the first piece of information she got, a visual one at that, was that the person, a man running this particular booth also had a connection to the wrestling federation in which Elena competed. As in, this man was a CHAMPION in LAW.
Oscar Orelash. The Barbarian. One of the most beloved and formidable superstars of the company. And of course, the Open-Gender champion.
Guy had a decent CV for sure.
"I see the Barbarian is on duty 24/7..."Elena strolled to the check-in booth, eating one of the cheese tarts from earlier, leaning against the counter near the corner of his eye. His costume was attuned to his gimmick, which prompted that observation out loud and teasing from the blonde woman.
"Say..." Elena picked up an axe prop from nearby to do a few loose, practice swings
"If one throws an actual axe with enough force, can it penetrate a shield? Or a knight's armour?" She posed the question, her tone inquisitive yet casual, while her eyes remained locked on the axe. This weapon felt at home in her hand.
