Raya Ashberry vs Kyoko Akan - Submission Match

As Raya sat backstage, she tried to take in deep breaths. Her nerves were on fire and her body was shaking. She couldn’t believe tonight was really happening. Raya was actually about to face off in a match against Kyoko Akan, the woman who’d bodied everyone in the division and was the greatest champion that law had ever had according to herself. Despite the fact that she had now lost her middleweight belt, Raya hadn’t lost an ounce of the respect she’d had for the woman.

But she also knew how dangerous Kyoko could be as an enemy, and although she knew she was playing with house money, Raya did want to put on a good performance and maybe even win, not just to impress the belly queen but for her own goals as a law wrestler. Her losses were racking up and she was beginning to stagnate, and a thunderous performance against such a star might be exactly what she needed.

Raya wondered what she would say to her opponent right before the match started. She didn’t want to be too complimentary and make her think that she was a pushover, but she also didn’t want to be too over aggressive in her trash talk and antagonize her needlessly. She thought for a while but blanked until finally it was time for her to walk into the arena. Another thought came into her head that this was the first time she'd ever taken a non standard match at law. She thought it might feel weird or off in some way. So far it hadn't, but she'd wait til the match started before reserving judgement.

Raya had always been callous when it comes to the crowd, she’d always acted as if they didn’t exist, and to a certain extent it was true that the crowd was a nonfactor to Raya, but tonight as she walked out into the arena, she felt exposed as the crowd roared. She tried to blur out the noise, not wanting to find out if those screams were cheers or boos. She took a deep breath and walked towards the ring, and as she entered would stand there and listen to the announcer introducing her while she would wait for her opponent to show up.

Kyoko Akan was pissed, she had everything and now it had come crashing down around her. Now instead of taking on the best of the best and touring the world she was facing a relatively new face like she wasn't the best there ever was in this place. Not a title match, not a high stakes fight, just a...match. The Belly Queen couldn't stomach this post reign era, she wanted it to end already and she was going to make sure that the world knew she was still a champ no matter what any record showed or what anyone said.

Kyoko's music hit and instead of the usual flair and posing she did or showboating the Belly Queen came marching out with murder on her eyes. Getting to the ring in record time and stomping up the steel steps Kyoko stepped up to the Raya woman and glared at her. "So you're the one they want wasting my precious time after all this?" Kyoko asked looking her for up and down. "You know what, nevermind it's not important, no matter what you're dead anyway." Kyoko hissed turning her back on her opponent and going to her corner to prepare herself.

Raya watched as Kyoko came out furiously, walking to the ring without wasting a single moment. She gulped and prepared herself, and when Kyoko stepped up to her she felt a bit intimidated, but that slight fear turned to anger as her opponent quickly dismissed her.

It was absolutely humiliating, knots formed in her stomach as she listened to the woman who then turned her back to Raya and walked back to her corner. Kyoko’s arrogance was what Raya usually liked to see but now that she was on the receiving end it felt much different than as a spectator.

“Y-you know what?” Raya said in a mixture of anger and embarrassment. “I was gonna come out here and say some bullshit like “you’re still the true champ in my book” but fuck that, I’m not some pathetic worm you can just step over like you did everyone else! I’m gonna waste as much of your so-called precious time as I want!”

When the match started, she’d come out swinging right off the bat. She would immediately launch herself at Kyoko with reckless abandon, looking to grab at her and bring her down to the ground. It was a foolish move, all the lessons she’d learned about biding her time and not leaving herself wide open from the get go had gone out the window the moment she had allowed her emotions to get riled up by her opponent for what seemed to be the millionth time, and against such a foe as Kyoko any small mistake could prove to be fatal, in other words it was the worst possible time for Raya to lose her cool!

Kyoko glared at Raya who seemed surprised by her taunts and unable to respond to them for a second, almost looking scared out of her mind when Kyoko continued to stare her down. Then she started to speak and their was a slight bit of embarrassment to her voice like she was speaking mostly to save face rather than because she meant the words. "You will? See how that goes for you." Kyoko hissed back stepping off to her corner and waiting for the bell to ring. Raya attacked first which did surprise her given her clear nerves, but she tried to grab her and force her down to the mat, causing Kyoko sprawl to try and fend off the bold headed move.

"Looks like you won't be occupying too much of my time." Kyoko said before she'd throw a punch to Raya's side to try and keep her from fighting back before she's grab around her waist and lift her off the mat before trying to plant her down on the mat and then circle around so that she was behind her, throwing a clubbing blow to the side of Raya's face as she did so.

Raya charged at Kyoko but was unable to get hold of her opponent as the woman sprawled and then threw a punch which hit Raya in the side.

“Aghhh!” Raya cried out as she felt the sharp pain from the blow which immediately made her back off as she suddenly realized that her opponent’s blows had much more power to them then she was used to facing! She knew going into the match that Kyoko’s power was no joke but it was a different feeling than being on the receiving end!

The punch hadn’t completely stunned her, but it slowed her for just a few seconds, giving her opponent enough time to grab her waist, lift her and then plant her back down on the mat before throwing a clubbing blow right to the side of her face which managed to connect and caused her to stumble onto the mat on all fours, trying to take a few deep breaths to recalibrate herself.

Raya stood back up to face her opponent and gritted her teeth in humiliation. She wanted to respond to Kyoko’s words but knew that whatever she said would mean nothing until she actually managed to get her opponent’s respect by showing what she had in store, so she’d quickly close the distance and throw a punch of her own, abandoning her early strategy of trying to take it to the ground!

Common sense would tell her that trying to make this a battle of fists when she herself wasn’t the greatest striker was a death sentence, especially given the stature of her opponent, but it was a mixture of ego and trying to match the woman at her own game that led Raya to launch a right hook towards her opponent’s jaw, trying to catch Kyoko and at least hope to daze her for a few seconds despite her subpar technique, counting on her raw power to do the trick.

Early start went to her in the face of Raya's recklessness, throwing her down to the mat where Kyoko could move around and then control her before slamming her elbow into the back of her head, and stunning her. Raya looked hurt, but quickly pushed herself back up looking at Kyoko with annoyance. "Don't look at me like that. I didn't make you act reckless." Kyoko said, hands up mockingly while clearly still thinking herself above Raya. Then Raya charged at her again, and this time she threw a punch, hitting Kyoko's jaw.

"Ngh!" Kyoko groaned, smashed by the punch and forced to take a step or two back. She landed the punch, but both because of the technique being poor and the rush job the power alone only staggered Kyoko a little. She recovered too quickly from the punch to to be stopped and sent a punch to Raya's fist, and then before Raya could reach she would step in closer and throw not one but two punches to the women's belly in retaliation, taking a slower approach to focus on technique and make sure Raya felt the difference.

As soon as her punch managed to connect with Kyoko’s jaw, Raya smirked slightly, having taken advantage of the fact that her opponent thought that she was such a joke that it would be alright to leave herself wide open, but Raya would vow to make Kyoko take her seriously.

She’d rush again hoping to consolidate an advantage but was shocked with the speed at which Kyoko recovered, Raya was sure she had put enough power to stun her opponent for at least a couple of seconds, but the woman’s resilience seemed to be something she shouldn’t underestimate!

Raya tried to land another punch but Kyoko sent a punch to her fist before quickly throwing two punches to her stomach that felt like thunder, it seemed like her entire body shook as her legs wobbled and forced her backwards while she tried to not fall to her knees. Raya clutched her stomach in pain and tried to speak but the wind had been knocked out of her, leaving her gasping for air already! She knew she had to do something quick but her limbs refused to budge, leaving her vulnerable for her opponent’s next move!
