Katsumi Oshiro, the Punk Princess

Post by CyanDimitrik »

Name: Katsumi Oshiro
Epithet: The Punk Princess
Age: 22
Hair Color: Blue Black
Eye Color: Emerald Green
Height: 5'7"
Weight: 124 lbs.
Alignment: Tweener
Hometown: Osaka, Japan

Entrance Music:
Yes, she has an actual intro video.
Style:
Vicious Finesse: Whereas previously, Katsumi didn't have much of a style outside of opportunism, she's developed fairly significantly! At this point, Katsumi is easily recognized as a technician-style wrestler, artful and skilled with submission holds and suplexes, but with a distinctly joshi flavor - a helping of aerial skill and martial arts to supplement it. But perhaps the strongest holdover from her early work is her scrappy proclivity and vicious nature.

Match Types:
Standard, Ironman, Hardcore, Cage, NHB!
She's up for stipulation matches, involving extended pins, mandatory pin finishes, beach matches, things of that nature.
She doesn't do mixed matches or outright hentai!

Physical Stats:
  • Strength: 3.5/5 -
Physically strong as an athlete, and she's toned up a bit more since her uptick in training. Though she can pack a punch and easily lift people her size and a little over per weight training, raw power isn't what she's known for or what makes her stand out.
  • Endurance: 3/5 -
Tough enough to take a beating and keep getting up, and with a body fit enough to handle it, Katsumi's a competitor. But she lacks the mass to be a standout punching bag.
  • Stamina: 4/5 -
One of her strongest assets, cardio and the ability to keep in the fight and go the distance with a high pain tolerance.
  • Agility: 4/5 -
Though raw speed isn't her hallmark, her body mechanics awareness and ability to move in coordinated measures is one of her greatest strengths. She's a classic joshi wrestler, agile with enough self-control to weave through complicated holds and spring from lofty heights to deliver punishing attacks.

Wrestler Stats:
  • Strikes: 3/5 –
While not a dedicated striker, Katsumi comes from a brawling background that originated out of grit rather than finesse. Since her hiatus and more refined training, she's become more apt to utilizing light martial arts to emphasize striking combinations or singular shocking strikes. But she'll sometimes default back to her stiff, punk roots.
  • Technical: 5/5 -
Katsumi's bread and butter, the technical aspect of wrestling. Mat grappling, chain wrestling, solid fundamentals and inventive improvisational submission holds are one half of the lethal coin she brings to the table. The other half are smooth, leverage-manipulating and picture-perfect slams, executed with finesse and precision.
  • Powerhouse: 3/5 –
Originally, this style of wrestling was quite risky for Katsumi, on account of her wirey build. She's always loved the idea of power moves, but had to be careful upon whom she would perform them. Now, she has enough strength to bring some of her favorite moves to bear, including bearhugs and powerslams. They're not going to be as match-ending as if they were coming from a goliath of a woman, but they're executed to ring-shuddering or grinding impact.
  • Aerials: 3/5 –
Graceful and precise as Katsumi is, aerials are something she pulls out only when the opportunity truly presents itself. She does her best work with both feet planted on the mat (or tangled with her opponent in some way). However, she's skilled enough to land what moves she's come to favor, though they tend to be less flashy and reliable than true aerialists' work.
  • Counters: 4/5 –
The complementary side of Katsumi's technical prowess, primarily focusing on grappling counters. Her mechanical awareness and reservoir of knowledge makes her difficult to lock down for lengths of time without risking reversals and unwinding jointlocks. This is part of what makes Katsumi difficult to deal with, outside of her tenacity and aggression; she's just plain difficult to out-grapple.

Signature Moves:
  • The Heartbreaker:
A part of Katsumi's newer, more refined approach to wrestling involves a little MMA influence. She chambers a kick and appears to launch into a mid-level roundhouse, only for the knee to tilt at the last second and re-angle higher, aiming for the head of her target in a confusing, punishing strike. She typically uses this as an unexpected counter to take an opponent off guard and end their momentum. Hence the name, The Heartbreaker!
For added cheekiness, she typically flashes a heart sign with her fingers after connecting the blow. (See: Question Mark Kick)
    Image
  • Shinokama:
A move that she's become comfortable enough that it can be executed from a variety of angles, making it one of her more versatile maneuvers; whether leaping from a turnbuckle, rebounding off the ropes, catching someone off-guard as they set up a powerbomb, or even simply from a standing position, the Shinokama has earned its name by merit of its sharp, swift execution and explosively punishing damage. From an elevated position, Katsumi locks her thighs around an opponent's neck and jerks back, pitching them forward. The top of their head meets the mat behind her to devastating effect. (See: Frankensteiner)
    Image Image Image Image
  • Shutdown:
Formerly a finisher, Katsumi has begun using it more frequently while putting a higher focus on more punishing (and dramatic) ways of putting down an opponent. Still, the Shutdown has a solid place in her arsenal, as it remains a great counter and has the potential to take the fight completely out of the victim. The preamble to the move is a front waistlock, and typically a bearhug against opponents her size or smaller, to squeeze the resistance out of them. The move is completed with a sideways torque, bringing the opponent down onto their back while slamming her body atop them in a belly-to-belly slam. (See: Bearhug into Belly-to-Belly Suplex)
  • Yokaidzume:
With a vulnerable opponent lying on the mat, Katsumi will slip in behind them and restrain their nearest arm behind her back. Her legs will then scissor their furthest arm to also restrain it back. Her hands lock around her opponent's chin, and she'll begin squeezing to apply incredible pressure and strain along her opponent's shoulders and arms. Though sometimes she'll free an arm and focus a little more on hammering an elbow into her opponent's unprotected ribs or midsection, or apply a stomach claw. (See: Double Underhook Chinlock with Stomach Claw)

Finishing Moves:
  • Crescent Moon:
Katsumi's flashiest finisher, and a guilty pleasure of hers. With an opponent lying faceup in the ring, she'll climb a turnbuckle to get into position. Once ready, she springs from her perch in a full forward flip and a half before slamming her trim stomach across the opponent's unprotected belly, typically remaining in place for the pin. (See: 450 Splash)[/spoiler]

  • Nightmare Fuel:
Katsumi's new finisher. She pulls an opponent's head between her legs and hoists them up and over, until they're against her back-to-back, their feet hooking her thighs and grabbing them by the wrists to secure them in place. She wracks the opponent along her back, bending forward and pulling on the arms to strain their limbs backwards and back at a tight angle excruciatingly. Despite it being a submission hold, Katsumi rarely wants it to end that way! Usually, she'll suddenly snap back and release the arms, dropping to the mat to let the opponent's face slam against the mat. (See: Gory Special Bomb)[/spoile2r]

Personality:
Katsumi is an agitator and a punk. She loves taking jabs at people and generally messing with them. If someone has buttons, she'll most likely try to push them. She gets a kick out of it, and she invites the audience to laugh along. Despite this, rarely is there ever any real venom behind her antics. She simply does it to get a rise out of her prey.

She's a showman. A performer not only musically, but on the microphone and in the ring. She feeds on the audience, whether they're booing or cheering her. She happily engages them, no matter which direction they're going, and not always to positive result. They paid for a ticket, they're going to get a show. Even her style of wrestling shows hints of this, including some risky moves.

While she may play to the audience, she's in the ring to win. She doesn't particularly care how it happens, just that she's the one who walks away with the W. She's competitive, and she'll play by the rules if she must, but given the opportunity, she'll make use of sneaky and underhanded tactics to keep things going in her favor. This usually keeps her in the 'villain' category in the public's eye, or 'antihero' at the best of times. She doesn't go into the ring intending on cheating, but if she sees the chance, there's a fair chance she's taking it.

The trolling and the sometimes less-than-scrupulous methods employed aside, Katsumi takes her job seriously. She trains hard and remains motivated to succeed. Granted it's for no better reason than the selfish desire to be the best, but it accounts for a determined young woman. She doesn't give in easily, be it to pressure, obstacles, or submission holds.

Katsumi isn't entirely different outside the ring, save for some key points. She's much more personable to fans and eager to interact with them, young or old, and bizarrely insists on being a positive rolemodel; no smoking, no drinking, no swearing in front of minors. With other wrestlers and opponents, she'll needle and tease, but nowhere near the extent she subjects them to in the ring or on camera.

Though it isn't a career on its own apart from perhaps adding flavor to her gimmick as the punk princess, Katsumi is extremely gifted musically. Her girlie voice can carry a clear and lovely melody, she's skilled on a variety of instruments, and enjoys working with audio mixers. She genuinely enjoys all of these things, but wrestling is her top priority.

History:
It's pretty long.
How could one girl go so wrong?

That's what Katsumi's parents keep asking themselves.

The Oshiros were a proud, prestigious family. They had means, they had wealth, they had influence. The one thing they didn't have was a child. Due to medical complications, that was a situation that would never be remedied. So they went out and adopted a mischievious, bright-eyed girl who was, in so many words, an early teen who was rough around the edges.

They gave her everything she could ever need. They doted on her with gifts, with allowance, with praise. She soaked it all in and enjoyed their encouragement of her exploration into the field of art and music. She had the heart of a performer, and the burgeoning skill of a musician. But there were two things they couldn't quell in her, be it through strong verbal reprimand, sanctions, or bribe. She had a proclivity towards violence and rough play, and adored the garrish affair of professional wrestling.

As they attempted more and more to curb her fascination with the violent sport and her uncouth behavior, she began to rebel. They were at their wits' end by the time they shipped her off to college. They had survived their daughter, and in college, she would grow to be a respectable, productive woman of value. They did their job.

Katsumi was happy to go to college. She loved the arts program, and got to shadow professional DJs and soundboard operators. She focused musically on the guitar and vocals. But that's when she discovered a local indy fed. They held tryouts for the general public, and without a second thought, she tossed up her hand. Despite being trounced, she demonstrated an aptitude and base knowledge, and was offered a position. When the training began, her grades slipped.

Katsumi went from a top tier student to frequently beaten, tired, and distracted. On the flip side, she was getting stronger and making a name for herself as a cocky young upstart eager to prove herself. Training as a wrestler emerged as her top priority, until she was just skimping by on barely passable grades.

This continued right up until her senior year, where she suddenly dropped out. She'd been offered a double position as a dancer and wrestler for their promotions. Katsumi had never tried dancing before, but she was certain enthusiasm and rhythm would make up for it. It didn't. Following one profoundly uninspired demonstration, she was moved back to only being a wrestler. Frustrated and embarrassed, she refused to re-enroll and decided to make wrestling her sole focus.

Her training and determination, coupled with a noteworthy ring presence, paid off. She made a name for herself in the indy federation as the "Punk Princess." It wasn't long after that officials from another federation approached her with a new contract...

Relationships:
Family: Disowned
Friends: Stacy Celestial
Enemies: None right now!
Romance: None right now either!
Rivals: Everyone. Probably you, especially!

Fun Facts:
  • Awkward Dancer: Though she's been getting better at it, Katsumi is an awkward dancer. Her brief and unfortunate time as a dancer in another federation has made her rather self-conscious of the fact.
  • Gamer Girl: Katsumi deeply loves retro gaming, and has a particular fondness for side-scrolling beat'em-ups.
  • Songbird: Katsumi is a multi-talented musician on a professional level. She plays violin, drums, keyboard, guitar, and has an excellent, well-trained singing voice.
  • Favorites: Her favorite instruments are her Ibanez Xiphos and Breedlove acoustic.
  • Musical Tastes: Though Katsumi loves techno, her tastes vary wildly and adheres to no specific genre. Some of her favorite artists include Yanni and Nightwish.
  • Cute Bruiser: She's an eager scrapper, hotheaded, tough, and behaves more girlishly and cute than she'd prefer.
  • AND THEN I PULLED OUT MY GUN!: Prior to coming to LAW (and even a while after joining), Katsumi was firmly in the closet concerning who she's attracted to. Now, she's admitted to herself that she's more into girls.
  • I Feel Pretty: Katsumi has always secretly cared quite a lot about how she looks, but always felt like she couldn't compete with the more traditionally beautiful people in the industry. But following her hiatus for heavier training and the subsequent makeover for her resurgence, she finally FEELS attractive. In her mind, she's gone from ugly duckling to swan. And though she'll likely never admit it, feeling pretty has been a confidence boost and added a sense of sorely missed social acceptance.
  • Personal Artifact: Katsumi is obsessively protective of her car. It has deep, deep sentimental value.

Vastly cleaned up the profile. Gonna update a few more images, but it's at a pretty good place right now. Won't be doing another update post for images, but the far, far easier-to-read profile with updates is worth its own little bump.
