Skye rocked back from the sudden elbow, head snapping to the side from the surprise shot. It wasn’t a clean strike, desperation rarely was, but bone still met bone, and the jolt rattled through her jaw. She rolled off Moona instead of staying draped over her, one hand bracing on the mat as the other came up to test her jawline. A slow open… close… another grind of her teeth. She winced once, the faintest flicker, before her expression reset to that cool, composed stare.

So this woman had something in her. Good. It meant Skye didn’t have to feel guilty for what was coming next.

Moona’s crawl was pathetic, scraping by for a need of the rope’s protection, boots dragging dead weight, breath wheezing through her chest. She looked like she was trying to swim through concrete. The bottom rope sat inches away, salvation nearly within reach.

Skye rose with none of that struggle, a fluid push to her feet, posture straight, shoulders squared. She didn't rush. She didn’t need to. She stepped forward, cutting off Moona’s path with a shadow that swallowed the over woman.

One strong arm slipped under Moona’s right armpit. Then the left. Tight. Hooked. Before the purple-haired heel could blink, Skye wrenched her backward and up, dragging her off the ropes and forcing her into a seated position between Skye’s legs. Her wrists clasped behind Moona’s head, arms weaving into a textbook, punishing, full nelson.

Skye sat back, legs spread for base, ribs pressed to Moona’s spine as she yanked her elbows together and pulled. Moona’s shoulders were forced forward, chin driven to her chest, spine bent into an uncomfortable arch.

No screaming. No taunting. Just the slow, grinding control of someone who didn’t need noise to prove dominance.

Skye leaned in close, breath steady, voice quiet enough that only Moona heard it.

“We keep it in the ring. No scampering off.”

Then her grip tightened, flexing through her biceps and forearms as she cinched the full nelson deeper, making the entire ring feel suddenly smaller, and inescapable.

Moona was in survival mode. That elbow was more instinct than a calculated attempt to break the pin. The next time she was pinned would likely be the last at this rate.

As Moona pathetically crawled away from Skye, she glanced back at her and noticed what looked like pain in her expression. So the woman wasn't invincible at least, but that did little to ease her worries. In fact, her worries were multiplied when the savant's shadow looked over her once again, an easily recognizable silhouette for her by this point.

She tried to move faster, but her body felt like it was reaching its limit. Even if she reached the ropes though, Skye would never have allowed her to rest. One arm was hooked, then the next, and soon she was lifted off the mat, dragged back into hell once more. Her feet thrashed about as if she was trying to step forward out of the savant's grasp and her arms extended towards the ropes in a waste of what little strength she had left.

Moona expected to be thrown again, but instead she found herself seated in front of Skye, locked in a full nelson that awkwardly contorted her body. Despite the pain she was in, she didn't squirm. That would just use up precious energy. She endured the hold, taking in deep breaths as sweat dripped down the side of her face, waiting for some kind of plan to come to her.

As time went on, the hold became more unbearable. She couldn't wait any longer, she needed to do something now. She moved her arms around, seeing what she could do with them, and felt her finger brush against hair, but not her own. She stretched her arm, bending it in a unnatural way that caused her even more pain, trying to reach a bit lower on Skye's head.

Eventually her hand found it's target, and she didn't hesitate. She clawed at her opponent's face and raked the redhead's eye to break the hold, or at the very least loosen it so that she could slip her arms free.

If she managed to free herself she would quickly turn around, spinning on her heel, and grab her opponent's shoulders, her grip weak as her arms were shaking from pain. Moona would then try to repeatedly throw her knee into Skye's gut while the savant nursed her eye.

Skye cinched the full nelson deep, fingers lacing tight behind Moona’s skull as she hauled the girl up like dead weight. The Savant’s arms locked, biceps and lats tightening, and Moona’s boots barely skimmed the canvas before Skye snapped her back down. The purple-haired woman bounced helplessly, her form jerked and shaken like Skye was testing the hinge points on a training dummy.

No roar. No taunting.
Just pure mechanical force.

Skye pulled again, Moona’s spine arching, her shoulders grinding painfully together, before wrenching her up and shaking her, rag-dolling the girl in a hold that looked like it belonged in a combat gym, not a wrestling ring. Sweat gleamed along the redhead’s arms, jaw tight as she stayed welded to Moona’s back, refusing to let even gravity try to separate them.

Then, pain. Sudden and sharp.
Moona’s hand shot up blindly, nails scraping across Skye’s eye in a desperate rake. Skye hissed through her teeth, grip breaking instantly as she recoiled, palm flying to her face. Her boots planted hard, body turning away on instinct as she blinked against the sting.

The referee barked sharply nearby. “Watch the eyes Moona!”

Moona didn’t waste the opening. She spun, shaky but determined, grabbing Skye by the shoulders with trembling hands. And before the Savant could fully reset, even blind and dazed she was a hard woman to control.

WHUMP!

A knee slammed into Skye’s abdomen, folding her forward a step, breath hitching in her throat. The another, wild and desperate

WHUMP!

Moona pulled back for a third when with a sudden, violent burst of strength, Skye shoved Moona away, enough force behind her to send the other woman tumbling backwards if she wasn’t steady enough. The force was wild, a small display of just how strong she was even without control and technique behind her.

Skye dropped to one knee. Hand pressed to her face, the other arm clutched across her abdoman as she coughed once, breath ragged. Damp strands of crimson hair clung to her cheek as she sucked in air, jaw flexing, the slightest twitch at the corner of her eye betraying irritation beneath the discipline.

The crowd buzzed. Skye wasn’t on the attack. In fact, Moona had bought herself a heartbeat of breathing room at the least.

Skye lifted her head slowly, blinking hard once, then twice, testing her vision and her balance. When her gaze finally locked on Moona again, the expression there was clear annoyance. One eye reddened and tearing up while the other cut the stare through her fingers with an unspoken threat of retaliation to come.

Moona's knee found its mark and dug into the savant. A smile crept across her face as she heard the breath rush out of Skye's body. That's what she gets for throwing her around like ragdoll. She winded up again and landed another blow, her smile growing larger.

Before she could punish Skye's gut anymore, Moona was pushed away. She had admittedly gotten a little carried away and the shove caught her off guard. She couldn't regain her balance in time and stumbled back a few steps before falling on her ass.

Unlike the rest of the match however, Moona actually had time to stand back up without someone else forcing her to. The woman who had seemed unstoppable mere moments ago had taken a knee. She wasn't invincible after all and was now nursing her wounds.

That exchange had been a huge win for Moona considering how the match had been going up until then but it did little to restore her confidence. It was an act of desperation that briefly gave her the upper hand, but there was no way she could keep that up. She was still severely outmatched in terms of strength and technique, and she knew it. She needed a change of tactics if she was going to have a chance at winning.

Right now though, the most important thing was keeping Skye down. Moona stepped towards the redhead, their eyes meeting between the gaps in her fingers. The look in her eyes, there was no doubt about it. If Skye got back up, that might spell the end for the heel.

Moona couldn't let that happen and threw a kick right at the side of Skye's head, her foot swinging at her opponent's temple. Hopefully the kick would finally bring Skye down to the mat completely. If everything went Moona's way she would try to lock down the redhead with a camel clutch, a simple hold that would punish Skype while giving Moona time to think.

Skye’s vision still pulsed in jagged waves from Moona’s fingers raking across her eyes. Dark spots flickered in the redhead’s sight, but instinct didn’t wait for clarity. The moment she sensed motion, a rush of wind, the snap of shin slicing toward her temple, her arm jolted upward.

Forearm braced tight against the side of her skull and…

CRACK!

Moona’s kick detonated against muscle instead of bone, the force still enough to jolt Skye hard onto her side. The lavender haired girl had more power behind her than Skye originally realized and she was paying for that now. Her breath hitched, hips rolling with the momentum until she ended up flat on her stomach. She planted a palm, pushing to rise when a sudden weight crashed down across her back.

“Nh-!”

Moona’s weight flattened her back onto the canvas. Skye’s fists curled reflexively as she felt the heel’s fingers slip beneath her chin, hands threading together like a lock snapping shut.

A camel clutch?

A good one.

Skye’s teeth clenched as she felt her neck forced back, Moona wasn’t just applying the hold, she was settling into it, grounding her boots, preparing to wrench Skye’s spine into submission. Pure leverage. Perfect position. And Skye knew, fighting it conventionally from the mat would be a losing contest. So she chose the one option that didn’t involve losing outright.

Her boots dug in, knees drawing underneath her frame. Palms slapped against the canvas, bracing as her muscles tensed. A deep breath, chest straining against Moona’s grip and then Skye exploded upward. A violent surge of power, her back arched like a bull ready to buck its rider.

“GYAH-!”

Legs extended, body snapped forward, all her raw strength focused into one fierce shove. Skye trying to launch Moona off her shoulders before the lock could truly harden into something crippling. She would literally not be taking this laying down.

Moona's kick was stopped just short of its target, blocked by Skye's arm. She stumbled a little when she brought her leg back down, taking more recoil from the impact than she had hoped. But it seemed that even though her kick had been blocked it had still done its job.

With Skye down on the mat, Moona took a seat on her back and locked in a textbook camel clutch. She knew this wouldn't make the savant tap, but it would wear her down. And more importantly it would buy her time. Moona needed to think. Sure she had Skye down for now but that wouldn't last forever, and she had learned firsthand how dangerous this woman could be. She needed a plan for when that happened.

Moona would have loved to have more time but Skye wasn't giving her any. Moona could tell the redhead was gathering her strength and shortly after Skye bucked with all her might, trying to brute force her way out of the hold. And it worked. Moona was sent tumbling from her seat and rolled a safe distance away from the savant.

Her temporary advantage was slipping away. If she was going to figure something out it needed to be now. Moona knew her own abilities well, and based on how the match had started it wasn't likely she would be able to outwrestle her opponent. But she had yet to try one thing. The way Skye fought felt fairly traditional, almost textbook. She like wrestling incarnate. But LAW wasn't the most traditional promotion. Moona just had to pull her out of her comfort zone.

The heel sat by the ropes, a new plan brewing. She would pretend to be in pain, more pain than she was really in at least, and wait for the savant to approach. Once she was within reach, Moona would pounce, her hand shooting up between Skye's legs and towards her most vulnerable region for a vicious crotch claw. If her plan worked she would hold it as long as she could, looking to see how the savant reacted to this kind of offense.
