The Longest Climb: Maria Tempesta vs Momo Kazan

The crowd winced, even though quite a few of them were admittedly impressed by Maria's feat of acrobatics, they wished it hadn't been displayed at the expense of poor Momo. Dropping into a crouch, Maria hopped back up to her feet, casually brushing her hair back as she sauntered up to the dazed Momo, leaning down to look down at her Japanese foe.

"I think you should stay down, chica," she purred, before aiming to stomp down, hard, on Momo's chest. "After all," she would add, lashing out with a vicous kick at Momo's hurting leg, "it's not like you could use that briefcase anyway, could you?" With that bit of casual brutality out of the way, Maria would strut over towards the ladder, ready to climb it, hopefully leaving Momo too battered to stop her...

After getting styled on by her agile opponent Momo would be reduced to rolling around on the mat in pain, clutching her face as she checked to see if her nose was broken by Maria's kick. Momo was not even given the chance to begin recovering before Maria beat her down further, a harsh stomp to the chest and a targeted leg kick keeping her down on the mat so that Maria had free access to the ladder "Gaaagh! N-not cool...!" Momo was seriously hurting after the beating she'd taken from Maria and she felt a slight temptation to just stay down so that the heel could end the match here, but even someone as lackadaisical as Momo didn't want to just roll over and take it, so she would start forcing herself up to her feet while Maria wasn't concerned with her.

Momo would wait until Maria had climbed more than half the height of the ladder before suddenly charging off towards the ladder. With her leg as hurt as it currently was Momo's acrobatic ability was extremely hampered and there was no way she could climb the ladder in this condition, but she needed to stop Maria and so she would resort to the far more simplistic option of ramming herself into the ladder like a human bullet! Though she hadn't been running at full speed she had still hit the ladder hard enough to make it tilt over and put Maria at risk of falling off!

Satisfied that her opponent has been reduced to a hobbling, mewling wreck, Maria strutted towards the ladder, casually brushing her hair back as she did so. The crowd was booing more intensely, hollering now. Many were chanting Momo's name, urging her to get standing again. Maria ignored them all and focused on the prize dangling above her. Momo wouldn't be getting back up any time soon after all. Even as she climbed the steps, she glanced aside, and flashed a middle finger to the crowd. "Why you cheering THAT loser?" she jeered back at them.

Then she froze. The crowd wasn't booing any more. They were all suddenly cheering. Maria's instincts kicked in as she turned, just in time to see Maria charging bodily at the ladder.

"Oh you bi--"

With a tremendous crash, the ladder went keeling sideways in a dull clang of metal. Maria was caught under the falling ladder, and shrieked in pain as her right leg was crushed between the leg of the ladder and the mat. Hot pain exploded up her leg, and she curled up in a fetal ball, clutching her leg.

Jesus, Mary and Joseph, but it hurt. A twisted ankle, most likely. All she knew was that this was going to be VERY bad for her moving forward in the match. She started hissing curses in Spanish even as she lay under the ladder, momentarily incapacitated...

With pure adrenaline guiding her feet forward Momo would stop Maria from ascending the ladder by ramming her shoulder into it, causing the ladder to fall over and for Maria to get caught underneath it! Momo winced and held her shoulder as she climbed back up to her feet, turns out that smashing your own body into metal fucking hurt, but any concern for her own pain vanished when she saw what she'd done to Maria "<holy shit...!>" Momo stuttered, breaking her self-imposed rule of only speaking English when fighting in LAW out of shock. Wrestling was a combat sport and Momo knew just fine that she was signing up to hurt people whenever she entered a match, but seeing Maria get hurt worse than Momo had actually intended because of her actions, and possibly nursing an injury at that, shook the young fighter. The audience on the other hand were cheering, on account of all the heel heat Maria had been building up in this match.

"Uh... are you...?"

Momo wanted to ask Maria if she was alright, but she knew that such concern from an opponent would only sound condescending so she would hold herself back. Instead she simply grabbed the ladder and pulled it off of her to stand it up again, then she would step back and start gesturing at Maria to stand up "Come on, come on! That's not all you've got, is it?" Momo would ask with the smuggest grin she could manage, making it appear as if she was taunting the heel. In reality she wanted to give Maria the chance to stand up again, as the idea of taking advantage of Maria after she was potentially injured in an accident that was Momo's fault didn't sit right with the brunette.

God fucking damn it, her leg hurt. Even as Maria struggled to free herself from the ladder, the very act of moving it caused spasms of pain to shoot up the injured limb. He let out an exhaled hiss of pain as she tried, and failed, to free herself. Thankfully, Momo quickly came to her aid, pulling the ladder off of her. Momo also taunted her of course, but all the same, Maria felt inwardly grateful for the act.

She didn't show it, though. Getting her leg under her, she winced as she shakily stumbled up to her feet, one leg at a time, wobbling uncertainly. Not good, she would not be able to perform high flying moves with just one leg.

"Puta madre! La madre que te parió!" she snarled, suddenly launching forward and kicking out with her good leg. Her bad leg immediately gave out, causing her to topple forward, but it would matter as long as she landed a solid strike on Momo's face...

Momo forced a smile to stop concern from flashing on her face as Maria struggled to get up to her feet, not wanting to hurt the heel's pride by showing pity for her. Maria showed her appreciation, or lack thereof, by yelling something in what Momo guessed was Spanish that she didn't quite understand and launching herself at the brunette. Momo saw the kick coming and raised her arms up to block it, but though she was able to stop Maria from leaving a footprint in her face she was still forced to stumble back as she winced in pain.

Momo was lucky however as Maria's bad leg gave out on her and she fell onto her front, stopping her from capitalising on Momo's weakness. Momo would then start running back towards Maria, slower than she'd have liked thanks to the damage inflicted to her own legs, and would leap up into the air at the last second. If Maria didn't get out of the way in time then Momo's legs would come crashing down on her back for a running leg drop! Normally Momo would have picked a more spectacular move, but her acrobatic ability had been seriously hampered.

Fuck. The bitch had blocked.

This was what was going through Maria's head as her leg gave out and sent her toppling forward. She was already trying to brace herself from the fall, extending her arms to cushion the impact. She spared herself a painful collapse rather than just a humiliating one, but it didn't change the fact that her mobility was sorely, painfully impacted now. She clenched her teeth, willed herself to ignore the pain, willed herself to move...

She was conscious of Momo running, and tried too late to dodge. Momo's legs came smacking down hard across her back, flattening her to the canvas with a cry of pain. She moaned, lying flat on her front, momentarily pinned in place by Momo's legs. Her predicament, it seemed, had just gotten worse...

With Maria's own attack leaving her lying vulnerable on the mat Momo would take the opportunity to launch an attack of her own, bearing down on the heel's back with a Leg Drop! Even though Maria had been the one taking the attack Momo felt a jolt of pain shoot up her leg from the impact, forcing her normally exuberant face to twist into a grimace as she hissed. With a grunt of effort Momo would force herself to stand up over Maria, then she would step back a few feet and wait for the Mexican to start climbing up to her feet. Once Maria was about halfway up Momo would suddenly run at her and try to cut off her ascent with a running knee to the chest. Now that the both of them were injured Momo wanted to finish this match faster, and so she intended to keep Maria down so the heel couldn't stop her from climbing that ladder.

Maria was breathing hard now as Momo's leg drop smashed down across her back, causing her to roll to the side, one arm reflexively clutching her back in pain. "M...mierda..." she moaned as she tried and failed to shut out the pain. Her botched fall was making things bad enough, but now Momo was actively making things worse for her, hammering her hard while she was down. For all of her face-like qualities, Momo was showing she could be quite ruthless when pushed.

Hissing between clenched teeth, Maria pushed herself up to her feet...just in time to see Momo running at her with a knee strike. Instincts kicked in at this point: Maria twisted to the side, aiming to catch Momo's outstretched leg under one arm. If she managed that, then she would use Momo's incoming momentum to hurt the two of them to the side, crying out a little as she put pressure on her bad leg but nonetheless trying to turn, lifting Momo off the mat, before ramming her back-first into the turnbuckle!

In Momo's haste to get this fight over and done with quicker she would fight a bit more aggressively than she usually did, rushing Maria down with repetetive attacks to make sure she'd stay down so that Momo could climb the ladder with impunity. Momo's offense proved to be a bit too overzealous however, as Maria was able to throw herself out of the way of the attack and grab Momo by the leg, using the young fighter's own momentum to turn them around and smash her into the turnbuckle "Gaaagh!"

The impact saw Momo's legs buckling from underneath her, but as the ropes were either side of her her instincts would kick in and she'd grab them, leaving her leaning against the ring post limply. Still nursing her sore back, Momo would be forced to take a moment to rest against the turnbuckle as she gasped for air, leaving her open to attack "Haaah... haaah..."
