Well damn; it felt like only yesterday she had first joined LAW, and now here Karen was on another supercard.

She had not been here in LAW that long; a few months, give or take, if anyone had been counting. But already, she had made an impression. Already, she had more than a few singles bouts under her belt, including quite a few wins. These included intergender bouts: she had already shown the management that she was not afraid to take on anyone, no matter what their size, gender, or experience level. She hoped the message to the management was loud and clear: throw me against someone tough, someone powerful, I will take them on and win.

In her locker room, she took a last few seconds to limber up and get ready for the match, as much to boost her own confidence as to get physically ready. Doing a final few stretches, and admiring her fit form in the mirror, she heard her music playing in the background, and confidently turned to stride out into the arena.

She was met by a chorus of cheers from the crowds as she stood on the walkway, wearing a New Zealand All Blacks t-shirt over her ring gear while Nagual’s signature haka trap remix blared around her. Hopping down the ring, she enthusiastically hi-fived her fans: though she had only had a few matches so far here in LAW, she was already accruing a not inconsiderable fanbase, and was overjoyed that people were this excited over her, especially at the beginning of a championship tournament like this.

“Our first competitor, standing at five-foot-six and weighing one hundred and fifty pounds…from Dunedin, New Zealand…KAREN GAAAAALE!”

Striding into the ring, Karen eagerly hopped up onto the bottom rope and raised her hands to the crowd, basking in their cheers. Finally, she stepped off the bottom rope, and, peeling her shirt off, stepped back to the center of the ring, waiting to see who from LAW's massive roster would be fighting her tonight...

Serafina Kunisada was puzzled. And a little worried.

And proud, too. What wrestler wouldn't be, after getting called to participate in a LAW Supercard? The 'Queen's Decree', hosted by the middleweight champ, Kyoko Akan... It was a big deal. And very glamorous. All this setting that had been built up for this purpose in Kyoto... It was certainly going to be an honor to step into the ring tonight!

Why the puzzlement then? Well, Serafina's accomplishments at LAW hadn't been exactly all that stellar so far. Sure, her matches had earned great ratings and reviews... But her record wasn't particularly victorious. Not that it would have been a very long record either... So why had she been chosen? The best explanation that Sera could come up with laid in the setting of the match... For the event to take place in this traditional hall in Kyoto, most likely anyone with Japanese roots was a favorite to participate... And even if Serafina was only partly Japanese, her ninja gimmick was likely to still provide a fit, then.

Why was she worried then? Well, logic dictated that these Supercards tended to feature the strongest, and most accomplished wrestlers. And according to that logic, Sera was most likely going to have a tough night ahead of her, requiring her to leverage her full skillset, and all of her endurance and strength. She did want to finally reign victorious at the end, of course...

Serafina Kunisada - La Liana Azul

“Our second competitor, standing also at five-foot-six and weighing one hundred and thirty-seven pounds… From Valladolid, Yucatán, Mexico… La Liana Azul, Serafina Kunisada!”

Of course, any puzzlement or worry were elements that a wrestler should not have shown in public... And even less in the ring. Thus, as Serafina's music started airing in the special arena, La Liana Azul appeared from the backstage with a rather confident and serious look on her face. The mystical tunes of Sera's entrance theme accompanied the blue-clad ninja as she made her way down the ramp in a graceful and determined fashion, her eyes wondering and taking in the special Queen's Decree arena. Not really engaging with the crowds that much at all apart from a few subtle waves before she had reached the ring apron, Sera's entrance was in that sense markedly different from her opponent's much more engaging and energetic one.

Still, Sera's entrance did include some theatrics. By the time she had reached the ring apron, she promptly climbed onto the closest turnbuckle... Or she was planning to climb, before spotting the custom decoration adorning it, and deciding to go for the purple top rope next to it instead. Then finally turning her sight towards the crowds' direction, she bowed in a typical Japanese manner to each side before jumping down into the ring in a Somersault and proceeding to bow once more towards her opponent, before settling down in her corner.

Now, her opponent... So, Karen Gale. Admittedly, Serafina wasn't all that familiar with her yet... But right now, the blue-clad ninja's eyes were intently scanning her body from head to toes. The first impression was that Sera's worst fears had probably not come true... But the more she kept on looking at Karen's body, the more muscles she could identify... Despite the fact that her attire did a good job with disguising some of them.

This should turn out to be interesting.

The significance of this match was not lost on Karen. This hall, for instance, was a long and storied arena, where countless Japanese greats had done battle in the past. And the fact that this tournament had been set up by the living legend that was Kyoko Akan was also not lost on Karen. The fact that she, a foreigner, had been invited to participate was a bigger honor than Karen had ever expected.

Which was one of the reasons why she was so eager to see who she would be fighting tonight.

Theme music blared, and then her opponent arrived.

Karen raised an eyebrow. Her opponent- a Mexican girl named Serafina-- was not what Karen had been expecting. Admittedly Karen had been expecting someone like Svetlana, or maybe someone like Alizeh Midori or Valley Doll, or even someone like her old friend/foe Rikka. But Serafina was not that: she was slender, elegant, practically gliding down the ramp while wearing an outfit that left very little to the imagination. Admittedly, it was enough to trigger Karen's bi panic, just a little.

As Serafina made her way into the ring and bowed to Karen, the Maori girl slammed a fist into her palm and gave a curt nod in return. And then, with that, the bell rang.

"Alright," she said, circling the Mexican girl and motioning for a lockup, "let's see how hard you are, yeah?"

The more Serafina got to observe Karen, the easier it was for her to get unnerved by her Kiwi opponent... Or based on her looks, was she perhaps a Maori? Well, Sera was no expert, and she knew that it was often dangerous to judge a book by its cover... But then again, regardless of her background, those muscles that La Liana Azul was identifying throughout her body were probably a good reason to make some kind of a judgment already.

Clearly, Karen wasn't a weakling. In fact, more than likely, she was physically stronger than Serafina herself.

Of course, while that observation was a bit unsettling, it wasn't something that Sera wouldn't had faced plenty of times inside a wrestling ring before. As a ninja, counting on superior strength was rarely a logical path to take anyway. Agility, skills, speed and technique were far more common advantages for someone like Serafina, and there was nothing new in the prospect of utilizing those to take this Karen down.

Admittedly though, the yellow-clad girl's rather aggressive response to Sera's bow hadn't gone unnoticed. While it was likely a respectful act, it also seemed to strongly suggest that La Liana Azul was going to get a taste of that fist. And Serafina wasn't particularly looking forward to that.

Nevertheless, the bell rang, and it was time to get going. Unfortunately for Sera though, Karen had perhaps already identified the ninja's weakness compared to her... Wanting to start off with a proper lockup. And naturally, as La Liana Azul was an honorable ninja, she couldn't be one to turn such a challenge down. Thus, the blue-clad girl simply nodded in response while approaching Karen carefully to engage in the lockup too... While readying herself to go full force with her efforts very quickly on against the seemingly more muscled girl.

For a moment, Karen watched Serafina as she edged closer, bracing herself for any tricks that the Mexican ninja might pull. But no: Serafina edged closer and closer, arms raised. Oh wow, Karen realized, the ninja was actually going to accept her test of strength.

Well, that suited Karen just fine.

The two of them tied up, collar and elbow, and then Karen wasted no time in pushing forward aggressively, trying to drive her more slender opponent backwards. "Come on," she growled even as she grinned, "is that all you've got?"

Serafina noticed some hesitation in Karen's demeanor as she began approaching her for the lock-up... Had she surprised the New Zealander by accepting her challenge? Or was her yellow-clad opponent plotting something more devious to fool Sera with? The ninja didn't have time to reach a conclusion, before her opponent had already begun approaching her too... And in no time, they were now engaged with the lock-up.

Sera had already decided to start off strong, and now that she got a closer look at Karen's thighs, biceps and shoulders, that decision was only reaffirmed further. Her opponent appeared very strong, full of muscle... And admittedly, the crowds were probably going to identify the contrast between the two wrestlers too now that they were right next to each other. Karen was clearly a bit taller, and heavier too... But how was she going to fare with the seemingly fearless ninja?

Sera started the lock-up strong, but so did Karen, at least if you asked Serafina. The blue-clad girl needed to soon take a couple of steps backwards, before needing to go full force against her opponent.... And even then, she was asking if this was all that the ninja had got! Sera couldn't even reply with words, simply by the wince on her face from the effort, telling that she was already probably giving her all..

For a moment, things appeared to be in a kind of a stalemate. But Sera was the one consuming her endurance more rapidly now, and Karen still had something in store... And finally, she managed to critically overpower the ninja! Sera's footing sudddenly collapsed, and left the ninja taking steps backwards rather rapidly towards the corner, trying to still find a way to push back on Karen... But the Maori was too strong, and in no time, Sera had been pushed all the way into the corner!

"Ohh... You're strong..." La Liana Azul complimented her opponent, while some blushing was developing on her face from both the effort required in the lock-up, as well as slight embarrassment with how swiftly Karen had ended up managing to push her into the corner. But her words had another purpose too... Perhaps by complimenting her opponent, she wasn't going to immediately take advantage from Sera's tricky position, and the ninja would get some much needed space between herself and her opponent now?

"Ohh... You're strong..."

Karen couldn't help but grin at that comment. Serafina had fought gamely in their little test of strength, pouring as much into their grapple as her lighter frame would allow. But in a straight up contest of strength, Serafina was woefully outmatched: that became very apparent as Karen powered forwards, almost ramming Serafina into the turnbuckle as she forced the Mexican ninja back further and further. As much as Karen appreciated Serafina accepting her lockup, it had not been a good idea for her.

"Oh, you noticed!" Karen quipped back with more than a little sarcasm.

And then Karen shifted her grip, one hand going to Serafina's shoulder. Pulling on the ninja girl, Karen would move to yank her out of the corner, twisting her body around to throw Serafina bodily into the center of the ring. She had no intention of going easy on Serafina, or of pulling her punches. As cute as she was, Serafina was a wrestler like her, and was here to win, which meant Serafina shouldn't expect any mercy in a high-profile match like this...

Serafina's words were meant as a classic compliment that an honorable ninja like her would often utter out to her opponents, but she didn't fail to notice that her gesture was met with mostly condescendence above anything else. The rather wide grin and the words she offered as the response were telling enough of just that, and the sarcasm wasn't left undetected by La Liana Azul either. But while it was somewhat annoying for the ninja, it wasn't still anything terribly surprising or unexpected, or an unseen reaction to her courteous ways inside the ring either.

Despite that, Sera's wish had been for getting some distance to her opponent... Which was something that Karen wasn't foolish enough to grant her. Having gotten a sound victory in the strength contest, the Kiwi wasn't about to let her advantageous position disappear... As Sera was getting to find out by the yellow-clad fighter taking control of her shoulder, yanking the blue-clad ninja from the corner, and throwing her roughly onto the mat in the center of the ring!

Sera had to admit that the throw had already been yet another display of strength... While the ninja herself was now in danger of starting to look like a ragdoll. Thus, it was time to get some speed and agility into play... La Liana Azul was hoping that after a few seconds of recovery, she would be able to roll herself some distance towards the ropes, and then get back to her two feet before sneaking towards an opposite corner... Hoping to establish a defensive stance before Karen would have time to get to her!

The toss, Karen had to admit, had been nothing more than a simple display of power. That was it. After the way she had handily won their contest of strength and pushed Serafina into the corner, she had been conscious of the ref telling her to back off. So instead, she had done the next best thing: she had tossed Serafina back into the center of the ring where they could fight properly. No hiding in the corner for this ninja, Karen thought, Karen wanted to force her to fight her instead of run all match.

Except running was still what Serafina was doing, crawling her way over to the ropes, playing defensively. So much for all of Serafina's earlier bravery in the test of strength, Karen thought bitterly.

"Where do you think you're going?" Karen called out to Serafina as she strode after her. Seeing that Serafina was in the corner now, Karen would burst into a run, hoping to nail her with a stiff clothesline while she was trapped in the corner!
