Never before had Noelle Silva been more locked in for not just a wrestling match, but for anything in her life. This was her shot at the peak, a title fight for the LAW Lightweight Championship. Not even her grudge matches against Sakura Hagiwara had meant as much to the Spaniard, even if those were much more personal. Annie Clark meant nothing to Noelle, for good or bad, beyond being the final obstacle to her goal.

Challengers were very rarely ever the odds-on favorites to win title fights, but Noelle came in as a smaller underdog than most. She held a perfect record against Lightweights up to this point, with her four non-victories coming exclusively against men and women who were in a bigger weight class, three of which were subsequently avenged with successful rematches. Noelle had even come back to beat Hagiwara twice.

Noelle's music came on, and she made her way to the ring accosted by the loudest screams she had ever heard as a wrestler. It made sense. Title matches were the big ticket for fans as much as they were for the wrestlers themselves. The princess could only imagine how much louder still the tens of thousands surrounding the ring would grow once the actual champion appeared. Noelle settled into her corner, stoic as ever, and awaiting the opponent of her lifetime.

”Annie Clark”

Annie’s title reign has had a brutal but star making start, with her going through an extremely bloody and violent affair with Alice Gaster in the Tokyo Dome, and a line of grudge matches and one offs before accepting her next challenger in Noelle Silva, a wrestler with one of the best win loss records in the division, in a match where Annie was very much out of her comfort zone, an Ironwoman Submission match.

Annie herself was not very skilled at submission moves, usually overpowering her opponents and pinning them for the win, or in one case, straight up knocking her opponent out. And similar to Noelle, Annie had faced larger opponents and beaten them, but Annie knew this would be a challenge, and a challenge she was excited to take on.

Annie spent her time waiting for her entrance to start, psyching herself up for the upcoming title defense, stretching and getting texts from both her mom and her tag partner Seline to hype her up.

Eventually her opponent finished her entrance and Annie’s music started in the coliseum as Annie came out onto the stage, waving to the crowd with a confident look on her face, championship belt on her shoulders as she walked down the ramp in the coliseum, her first time wrestling in this country before walking up the steel steps and heading underneath the top rope.

Annie would then head to the center of the ring and pose with her title before handing it to the referee and heading to her corner to look at Noelle with a smile.

Annie then waited for Noelle to say something, see what her opponent was thinking before having to face Annie, she felt confident and eager to fight in this match.

Noelle watched as Annie made her entrance, admittedly more focused on the belt she hoped to claim rather than Annie herself. But once the belt had been handed off, it was just the two of them. "It feels like you've time travelled, doesn't it," Noelle eventually said after interpreting Annie's silence as an invitation to talk.

Noelle lifted her head up, and looked around the stands as she spoke, "They still hold concerts here pretty regularly you know. I've been to one, but honestly it just felt like any other concert, but with much less comfortable seating than what's generally available today. But this? The crazy bastards at LAW truly brought back the Colosseum of Ancient Rome. . . and we get to be its gladiators."

Noelle's gaze came back down to Annie, "I'm not often reverent to anything less than God Himself, but, I can't help but feel a desire to honor those that we're succeeding." The princess crouched down and raised her hands, entering her wrestling stance, "And what better way to do that then combat? A battle worthy of those who fought here millennia before! And may whoever is most worthy, be champion crowned!"

Annie smiled as she heard Noelle speak to her about the past of the Coliseum she was about to wrestle in. Annie had to admit, this was very different from any other arena she wrestled in, a small building like Korakuen Hall, the massive halls of Tokyo Dome, or the small little house that her career began in, but now wrestling in an open air coliseum filled with columns was definitely different.

Annie then replied to what Noelle said, as she got into a wrestling stance. “You know, I hope after I defeat you, the people here in this arena will be able to declare me one of the greatest fighters to ever enter this arena. While this may not be a fight to the death partner, I’ll be sure to fight as if my life depended on it.”

Annie then waited for the bell to ring, and hoping that when the bell rings, she will engage Noelle in a test of strength.

"Fun fact, and I was actually hoping I'd get to tell somebody this while I was here," said Noelle, "the heavy majority of gladiator battles did not end in death. Gladiators were expensive and time consuming to train, so one dying in combat was seen as a horrible lost investment. Most deaths that did happen in the Colosseum were prisoners sentenced to die, who were thrown in here to make a show of their execution."

"But I'm getting off topic," Noelle said. "I do intend to fight you as hard as you plan to fight me. So let's get started, shall we?" The bell rang, and Annie made no effort to hide what she wanted. Something that Noelle would do her utmost to go the whole match without giving her. Noelle knew she'd never beat Annie on power, so it was time to get fancy.

Annie had her arms out past her shoulders for her desired Test of Strength, leaving space straight up the middle at her body that Noelle would hope to exploit. She would reach her arms out, trying to make a show of intending to accept the test of strength. But once she was in striking range, Noelle would thrust her foot out at Annie's stomach.

If Noelle's kick connected, she would shuffle forward as her foot landed to get in range to throw a jab at Annie's face, which the Spaniard would then try to follow with a hook if it hit. If these blows could stagger Annie a bit, Noelle would then try to grab the champions head, pull her back, and slam Annie down backwards with a DDT.

Annie nodded as she heard what Noelle said, before approaching Noelle looking for a test of strength and seeing that Noelle would engage with her filled her with confidence.

That was until she was hit with a gut kick, catching the Lightweight champion off guard as she doubled over, holding her midsection in pain. Noelle definitely had a painful strike in her leg, and Annie definitely felt. She should had known better as the Lightweight Champion.

But Annie was not going to stay down for long. “NICE TRY PARTNER!” Annie yelled as she reached her hands out, trying to grab Noelle’s arm that looked to hit a jab.

If she managed to, Annie would then launch her foot right at Noelle’s midsection, hoping to make her double over. And if all that worked, would hit her with a Double Axe Handle to Noelle’s back.

Noelle's gut check hit, but that was about the only part of the challenger's combination that would hit. Noelle had expected that the kick would stagger Annie enough for her to link into the jab, but the champion recovered quickly enough to catch Noelle's arm and pay back the belly kick with one of her own that sent the Spaniard bending over.

"UGH!" Noelle groaned as she took the blow. But she still had her wits about her, and knew that when Annie got somebody like this, she liked to go over the top. So the princess would respond to getting doubled over by going even lower, diving at Annie's legs. Noelle succeeded at dropping underneath the arc of a Double Axe Handle she never even saw coming.

Noelle knew that she didn't have a ton of power behind her dive since it was coming off of being doubled over, so she would go to wrap both of her arms around Annie's left leg, pushed her shoulder into the farm girl's shin, and tried to alligator roll her down onto her back. If she succeeded, Noelle would then try to swing herself around Annie's leg and lock it into a Knee Bar.

Annie was about to bring her hands right down on Noelle’s back, hoping to really use her power to knock Noelle right on her knees and let her know what she was in for.

But all Annie got was the air as Noelle managed to get out of the way, as Annie felt her legs being grabbed and her balance being off as she felt like she could fall over.

“AAAH!” Annie yelped as she fell onto her back and was rolled onto her stomach, Noelle taking complete technical control of Annie’s leg before wrapping Annie in a knee bar.

Annie gritted her teeth, her leg, specifically her ankle was surging in pain, as her immediate thought of countering was to use her free leg and attempt to push back off Noelle’s body, hoping to free herself.

The biggest aspect of Noelle's battle plan was to counter Annie's monstrous strength with her own technical excellence. The challenger would not have been able to take the champion to the mat with pure strength alone with how weak of a position she attack from. But by executing everything right, Noelle was able to not only take Annie down, but lock her in a nasty submission hold as well.

Annie tried to escape by using her free leg to get away from Noelle and pull free, but Noelle had all four of her limbs wrapped around the farm girl's leg. Annie wasn't getting out of the Knee Bar like that no matter much of her strength she poured into it. "You ready to tap out," Noelle said as she poured even more pressure into Annie's knee.
