A Chance Encounter in Malta: Renee Challenges Bengal

Bengal didn't have a match until the second week of FTL, but she accompanied the LAW entourage to Malta nevertheless. The company's promotional event at Mellieha Bay featured a concert stage, complete with live music and a mosh pit. The Tiger planned to stay as far away from all noise and fuss as she possibly could. She wanted to save all of her energy and focus for her upcoming bout with E'isa, the Endless X. To that end, she would spend her week in Malta soaking up the sunshine amid the beautiful architecture, blocks away from the FTL arena. None of the other wrestlers would bother her there.

At least, that's what she thought. While Bengal was making her way into a small café opposite the hotel where she was staying, she bumped into someone else coming out. She recoiled backward, ready to curse the other woman for her carelessness, but was suddenly struck dumb as she recognized her adversary's face. Even in the dim light of the cramped café, there was no mistaking her. It was Renee Steinhauser, her former tag team partner. And it looked like she had something she wanted to say.

Renee would be in her locker room after her return from Rome; wearing the colors of the rival football team of Rome, SS Lazio. The locals probably had her wear it since she was holding the LAW Loserbelt Championship. It was pretty tacky wear, not liking the fact that the jersey was light blue instead of her iconic red but she couldn’t fight off a bunch of drunk Roma fans. She was also having a bad day as removing her jersey made her struggle to wear her wrestling attire. She definitely crashed out with putting her attire on to where she kicked the wooden bench in the locker room. Before immediately regretting kicking that bench since she kicked the metal beam holding up said bench.

Renee then grabbed her Loserbelt Title as she stormed out of her locker room. She would then start walking in a random direction without looking before she bumped into someone. She was about to curse them out as well before she saw who she bumped into; an old friend, or in this instance, an old rival.

“Watch where you’re go- Oh. It’s you. What are you doing here Bengal?”

"Me?" Bengal replied, putting a hand to her chest as if she wasn't sure who Renee was talking to. "I'm just enjoying my vacation here, before I get to kick some ass in the Colosseum. What about you? Busy defending your title?" She gestured at the makeshift belt the other woman was clutching in her hands, which seemed to be fashioned from a stop sign. There was probably some intended symbolism in that, Bengal thought to herself.

"That belt fits you, Renee," the Tiger continued. "I'm just surprised it took you this long to get it. After all, you've always been a loser!" She arched one of her thin eyebrows, as if daring the Renegade to reply. A few other customers in the café looked up nervously, sensing the animosity between the two women. The small room fell silent, until you could hear a pin drop. Even the bartender had stopped polishing his glasses, as he waited to see how Renee would react to this provocation.

“Oh fuck off Bengal. I only have this because LAW wasn’t giving me what I wanted and my opponent had the same strength as me. I was just not the better woman that night. But what about you, huh? What have you done after you broke up the tag team?”

Renee was getting really sassy with Bengal. True, she was dealt with the Loserbelt Championship. But that just meant that she has done more at LAW than Bengal had. So she still has some leverage on her being a bigger name than her scornful old tag team partner and rival.

Bengal laughed bitterly. "Oh, that's for sure. A newborn kitten has the 'same strength' as you, honey." Deep down, she knew that she was being unfair. Even if Renee had recently been saddled with the Loser belt, there was no denying her many accomplishments in LAW. But Bengal wasn't about to admit that now - not to the woman who had always outshone her, who had always managed to be the fan's favorite. She didn't even want to think of the years she'd spent tag-teaming with her. All that time wasted, living in someone else's shadow. For the Tiger, this retribution had been a long while coming.

She leaned in close, bumping her chest against Renee's, breathing hotly in the Renegade's ear as she whispered: "I'm glad I broke up our team. I was tired of looking at your ugly face anyway!"

Renee then shoved Bengal. She was really getting on the Renegade’s nerves now as she wasn’t gonna back down now. Especially with her insults being that she was weaker than a newborn kitten and Bengal being glad she broke up the team. Though, it was very clear to see who succeeded after the tag team split and who was wallowing away in the background. She knew their tag team had Renee be the star of it while Bengal was her second banana. That was when Renee got an idea.

“Back off, you Tiger bitch. If you want to go at me again, I’ll take you on any day. Matter of fact, how about we put my Loserbelt title on the line. I’ll kick your ass and make you the new Loserbelt Champion and we’ll see who’s the Jimmy to the Jey Uso.”

Bengal's amber eyes widened with delight. This was exactly what she'd been hoping for. The potential risk of "winning" the Loser belt would be a small price to pay, if it allowed her to humiliate Renee in a public setting. Besides, I know all her moves. She doesn't have any surprises for me, the Tiger thought to herself. In her excited state, it didn't occur to her that the Renegade knew all of her moves as well.

"Bring it on, skank," she snarled, catching the other woman's arms mid-shove and locking up with her. The Indian woman thrust her grinning face at her soon-to-be opponent, drawing closer and closer, until their lips were almost touching. "I'll make sure you keep that belt," she said, in a low voice that only Renee could hear. "When I'm done with you, they'll have to bury you with it!"

Renee would pull her hand away after this staredown with her former tag team partner. They were very much evenly matched, with both parties thinking they have the upper hand in this matchup. Renee then pushed Bengal out of her way as she stormed towards the LAW Booker and demanded a match with Bengal for her LAW Loserbelt Chanpionship; which was granted but not at the ppv since sign ups were long over.
