Fighting Style: Avery comes from a mixed sporting background and thus has plenty of athleticism, but she forged her name in wrestling primarily through session wrestling. Her style involves what might be expected of a session wrestler, so lots of ground-based submission offense that can restrict and overpower her opponents. Her legs in particular are an extremely powerful asset. As an overall wrestler, she is lacking in many ways, but she has strong kicks, a solid repertoire of powerhouse moves, and plenty of cleverness and moxie. However, more traditional wrestlers have strong advantages over her if a match type does not allow her to capture opponents in her devastating holds.

Personality: Avery Merritt carries herself like she owns the room, the ring, and maybe even the whole damn world. She’s sharp, stylish, and always five steps ahead, making sure everyone knows it As a session wrestler, she built a reputation dominating opponents who wanted to lose. But now, stepping into a true wrestling ring, she carries that same certainty, even if the reality is more complicated. She believes in her own brilliance too much to acknowledge the gaps in her game.

In the ring, she still moves with the same poise, but cracks show when things don’t go according to plan. She’s not reckless, but she’s used to dictating the pace, to opponents bending to her will. When they don’t, and when speed, strikes, or sheer chaos throw her off, frustration creeps in. Avery knows how to control a match when she’s the one calling the shots, but a proper wrestling bout isn’t always hers to dictate. Still, she refuses to believe she can’t handle it. Her ego won’t allow it. She leans into what she knows, tightening holds with the same smirk she wore in the session circuit, making sure every submission is a reminder of her superiority.

Outside the ring, she’s still every bit the woman who thrives on control. She surrounds herself with people who admire her, who feed into the legend she’s crafted. Luxury isn’t a weakness; it’s a reward for playing the game better than everyone else.

Pre-LAW: Avery Merritt was born into wealth, the kind that didn’t just open doors. She never had to knock in the first place. Her family was old money, East Coast aristocracy with a name that carried weight in the right circles. From childhood, she was molded into the perfect heir: refined, brilliant, untouchable. Her schooling was elite, her extracurriculars carefully curated—ballet, equestrianism, fencing, competitive swimming. Every pursuit emphasized grace, control, and superiority. And Avery played along, not because she wanted to, but because she understood the rules. She knew how to project the perfect image and how to make herself indispensable to those in power, like her parents. But privilege, for all its benefits, came with a leash, and Avery had no intention of spending her life being led. Her father, a ruthless businessman with little patience for failure, made it clear that control was not something she could take for herself. She despised that notion.

College was where she saw her first real opportunity to take power for herself. She aligned with an exclusive society that thrived on wealth, influence, and secret dealings behind polished smiles. It wasn’t unlike her family’s world, but here, she wasn’t just an heiress fulfilling expectations. She was a player. She studied people the way she had studied fencing, learning exactly where to strike, when to press, when to retreat. And for a while, it worked. She played the power games with the older, influential men of the club, wielding charm and intellect like weapons. But power is a fickle thing, especially when egos are involved. One misstep, an entanglement she shouldn’t have allowed, and suddenly, she had lost her control. The fallout was swift. Her reputation was shredded, and her family, ever obsessed with appearances, cut her off completely. She had lost everything: her status, her financial security, even her place in the world she once ruled. She had been exiled, just like that.

But Avery was never the type to disappear quietly. Stripped of her wealth, she rebuilt herself through several less-than-savory methods that eventually led her to session wrestling, regaining control in the only way left to her. She became one of the most successful women on the scene, making enough money to live comfortably if not luxuriously. But she wanted more. Being a queen in a niche underground world wasn’t enough; she needed to be on a grander stage. That opportunity came when the League of Anime Wrestling reached out with an offer. She assumed they had seen her for what she was: a force of dominance. The truth, of course, was simpler. Avery was beautiful, and LAW had always had a need for marketable faces whether they possessed ring talent or not. They saw a striking woman with an air of aristocratic allure, someone who could captivate crowds whether she won or lost. But Avery? She believed it was her talent they wanted. She saw herself as an inevitability, a woman who would walk in, establish dominance, and rewrite the rules to suit her vision.

Relationships:

Beast: A brute that Avery doesn't even feel inclined to bother hating, but attempting to pull his least away from Beauty entertained her for one night, at least.
Beauty: Though Avery was initially inclined to think Beauty as simply a lesser version of herself meant for the taunting, Beauty's attack on her and post-match brutality has earned every ounce of Avery's ire.
Ducky Williams: Ducky's introduction to Avery? Being targeted by a scathing promo. Avery at least thought she was a worthwhile target, I guess?
Jamie Harper: Jamie is among a long line of figures that passed through Avery's bedroom and that Avery indirectly blames for her downfall. Avery is not happy to see him as a member of LAW.
