Howling at the Moon - Ivanna vs Beowulf

Unread post by Aeri »

No Disqualification Match between The Bloodmoon Apostle and Beowulf
Winner is crowned by making the loser submit, pinning them, or knocking them out.

LAW was a strange place for Ivanna. Never before in her life had she been in an arena like this, with a crowd that hungered for violence and thirsted for entertainment. The buzz in the air was.. appealing.

It drew her in. And today, her opponent, Beowulf. A man that howled at the moon, a traveller of the night. Someone that fell under her Goddess’s jurisdiction.

She tilted her head. Like she listened to a voice.

”Test him.. Ivanna. Expose him, his sins to me.. so I can cast my judgement upon him. And you, my fist.. will execute it.”

She smiled. A creepy smile, the purple lipstick curling up ever so lightly. The voice of her Goddess was clear. Her feet clacked against the canvas, and a gentle tap, tap, tap, pressed against the tiled floor of LAW.

She stepped out into the arena, eyes all on her. Her outfit was red, her hair dyed with embers of burning velvet, and her hair strung up in a set of beautiful braids. She didn’t much show off to the crowd, but they still oooh and aaah’d as the lights dimmed. Her shapely figure slid into the ring, her gloved fingers running down onto her skirt and thighs, smoothing them down.

She’d bring her fingers to her lips, searching the crowd with her eyes. She didn’t seem to be looking at anyone in particular but.. she’d lean down, taking the mic and exhaling a little bit.

“Beowulf.

Your judgement is nigh. If you prove to be a sinner, this ring will be stained with your blood! Come, and prove to me that you are better than what your oafish, loud and wide figure presents!”

She dropped the mic, the ringing of static keening loudly. And then she dropped her gaze to the floor, waiting stoicly for her opponent.

Times may not have necessarily been the best when it comes to the old Wulf-ster. Although his ardent Wulf-A-Maniacs remained vocal in their unflinching loyalty for their hero, wrestling federations just weren't booking the bonafide showman as much as they used to be. Today's generation of wrestling fans gravitating more towards the hardcore deathmatches and grapplers who specialize in aerial acrobatics. Neither of which were necessarily Beo's forte as the old school grappler that he was...but he'd been in the wrestling business long enough to recognize when he'd need to get with the times or get swept off into the ocean with the changing of the tides. Although he was resolute in still being the upstanding professional and bombastic entertainer that he was, Beowulf signed up for this No Disqualification match knowing lines would need to be crossed and hands may become dirtied on his towards grasping victory once again. S'all just the price of fame, he figured. Beo nevertheless hoping that being in matches like this will get him more airtime from bookers and promoters~...

Beo's theme provoking a cascade of cheering adulation as people felt goosebumps on their arms and shivers go down their spine as the Wulfman himself came strutting out afterward!! The wrestling legend taking it all in as he stomped down the ramp mouthing words only he could hear and pointing all around the crowd before pointing straight at the ring and his opponent for the night inside. The man who seemed larger than life itself slapped the outstretched hands of his fans until he stepped into the ring and wasted little time in enthusiastically playing to the audience with flexed posing, before speaking into the mic in his hand. "AW YEAH??!! WELL LEMME TELL YOU SOMEHTIN' SISTER!!! This Wulf-Man right here can pull the bumper off a Cadillac, jack!!! And that's because he's got these 24-inch pythons coursing with the strength of Wulf-A-Mania, and they'll be the ones doling out unyielding judgment on YOU, Bloodwitch!! So, if you want some...COME GET SOME!!!" Beo hollered as he discarded his mic to ringside with one more flexing showcase of his muscled biceps.

He came into the ring.

She stared.

It was hard not to.

Beowulf had a presence to him, a certain charm. He stood at a hearty seven inches over her, and had muscles bulging in the sleeves of his shirt- not a typical wrestling attire to be sure, but- after a quick glance down at her skirt and stockings, neither was hers.

His loud voice reached her, and she remained stoic. Unamused. Yet tendrils of intrigue curled deep within her.

”Beowulf, meaning War-Wolf.

You will wage a futile war today. Your epic has already decreed that you perish in your tale, and today I bring your book to a close.

Your style is dated. Judgement draws nigh.. and I, the Bloodmoon Apostle, will bring the gavel of my Goddess unto your soul.”

A cold tone, a threat, and her boots clack, clack, clacked against the canvas as she circled him. Her fingers lay loose by her side. The crowd was jeering at her, and rooting for him. Well.. about half and half now, but she would tip the scales.

She would make them demand his execution.

She moved in closer.

Walked past his side, standing on her tip toes to bring her lips to brush by his ear.

“You understand it, don’t you volchisita? Your style is fading away..

The crowd knows it. I know it. You know it. This is your last attempt to draw up your followers, walk the walk to back up your talk so to speak.. but do not fear. If you’re a.. good boy, I will put you down with dignity.”

She’d lean back, standing right against him. Breast to pecs. Her gaze met his from under her bangs.. Ivanna was something else.

Radiating charismatic machismo and commanding the attention of a jam-packed arena all with nothing more than a microphone in his hand all came as naturally to the Wulf-man as breathing at this point in his illustrious career, even though he's starting to notice the waning adulation of his recent stadium appearances. Not to mention that kids these days seem to be more interested in buying merch from whoever caught fire in the wrestling scene these days. Hence why the Wulf-man asserted himself with as dynamic and captivating an entrance he could muster. Soldiering through this downward trend in popularity having become Beowulf's Number One priority...actually, winning this match would technically be his Number One priority at the moment. His attempt at rallying his Wulf-A-Maniacs once more at his side was now officially underway. Beo high-fiving fans on his way down the ramp, alongside a flexing gunshow of rippling biceps, and culminating with a scorching promo that was just as much bark as it will be bite, all in response to his demure adversary with what must be obtrusive hair bangs.

Beowulf standing upright and folding his brawny arms like a stoic high chief as he observed the mysterious, aloof and daresay alluring adversary across from him. One who was also apparently a helluva character worker as Ivanna started circling around Beo, ironically enough, like a wolf stalking its prey. The rugged Wulf-Man absorbing every word spoken until she culminated her sultry ultimatum by leaning in with whispered words tickling his eardrum and swelled softness mushed against his pecs. A tingle up his spine and somewhat flustered hue hopefully coming off as indecipherable once he wobbled his head and cleared his throat. "Heh...fortunately for me, I don't know half as much as you think I do, Bloodpool Apostle!!! S'gonna take more than some false prophet to silence Wulf-A-Mania, m'fraid. Besides, every hero dies at the end of their story. But what matters is the legacy you leave behind to inspire others..." A star flickered wink and smile batted at Iva as he stepped back to the sound of the ring bell, Beo stepping afterward with arms outreached and an attempt at a lock-up.

Ivanna had noticed something.

He was refusing to call her by her correct name. It wasn’t “Bloodwitch”, nor was it “Bloodpool”. And she was fairly sure he knew it too.

She sneered a little, involuntarily as she made the connection. He was mocking her. Playing up his “Wulf-a-Mania” by not taking her seriously. Or perhaps he didn’t mean to.. but benefits of the doubt wasn’t something she was accustomed to disposing out.

“Heroes perish.

Or they live long enough to become a villain.”

As she spoke, the idea hit. The tiniest hint of a sinister smile curled up her black lips as Beowulf beckoned her to lock up for a test of strength. She glanced her biceps, which weren’t unimpressive and then his bulging pythons, which she didn’t think was quite fair.

But nevertheless, she locked up.

Lacing her fingers with his, he’d find that her fingers were.. soft and silky smooth.

“What say thou? If I beat you.. you become a villain. Try breaking bad for once.

It might do you good, you tired old mutt.”

She’d snark. Ivanna wasn’t pushing Beowulf back, however much she tried. So she didn’t try. Slipping her fingers into his own had just been a set up, a set up to use her athletic abilities to leap up into the air and deliver a delicious double drop kick to Beowulf’s chin, aiming to knock his lights out!

Whether the Enigmatic Wulf-Man was intentionally botching Ivanna's macabre title as a deliberate attempt at mindgames meant to needle the Apostle into making a critical mistake sometime throughout the match, or if Beowulf was just a musclebound ignoramus...would be answered at another time. But regardless of his reasonings, Beowulf's veteran instincts ensured that he was taking Ivanna seriously enough to take her words ominous words to heart and open the match up with a grounded lockup. The safest method of opening up any wrestling match in order to gauge your adversary’s strength and weaknesses. A steadied stance taken as Ivanna locked horns with the Wulf-Man that he respectfully didn't siphon all his strength into considering that apparently Ivanna wished to continue their mystifying conversation in mid-grapple.

"Why, Ms. Vasyanovich. I do believe you're trying to seduce me. Heh, I get the feeling you'd love to see that sorta thing though. Big Bad Wulfman, stepping into the darkside. Sorry lady, but Wulf-A-Mania's here to stay. On the flip side, how's about if I win, you become a heroine? Winning fans over as Sun Disciple~...Or Wulf-Woman...Wulf-Girl?"
Beowulf ruminated further on how best to market a heroic version of Ivanna with cocked eyebrows as his mind wandered, unfortunately distracting him enough to not notice his adversaries nimble maneuvering until he'd taken the striking dropkick right to his scruffy haired mug. The battered Wulfman getting rocked backward onto his back, but rolling into it until propped on a bent knee. Beo shaking his head to vigorously get his senses back and attempting a righteous clothersline to Ivanna.
