Backstory:
Bao grew up under the tutelage of her mother, a powerful witch. However, their unconventional lifestyle put her at risk, leading to her eventual separation from her mother due to child endangerment. Unwilling to conform, Bao escaped and survived on the streets, developing a knack for pickpocketing and theft to make ends meet. Her constant stealing turned into an uncontrollable compulsion, earning her the reputation of a cunning kleptomaniac.
Her life took a turn when she attempted to steal from a mysterious lady in white, only to be caught and faint in her presence. Upon waking, Bao found herself in an unknown location. The enigmatic woman, Lou Blue, possessed knowledge of Bao's past, offered her a chance at a new life under one condition: Bao would serve her loyally, no matter what. Grateful yet wary, Bao accepted and was given the alias Dianwu, becoming the alchemist of the woman’s secretive clan.
While with the clan, she found and befriended a wild man named Kunyomi, taming his aggressive nature with kindness—and an ice cream cone. With the Lou's approval, Bao brought Kunyomi into the fold, teaching him to read and write, eventually falling in love with him. Despite her tough exterior, her connection with Kunyomi revealed a softer, more compassionate side of her.
Bao shares a sibling-like dynamic with Doku, a fellow clan member. She delights in teasing and pranking Doku, often stealing her mask, testing potions, or outright teasing her. Despite their bickering, the two share a deep bond, Doku steps in to protect Bao when necessary (though she'd never admit it).
