"Well as I've said before, with my own body still recovering, I've prepared something else for more traditional practice in lieu of sparring with you myself," said Tiki. "Although I don't know when that something will be- Oh? Hold on." Tiki focused her attention towards the front of the gym, smiling when she spotted a familiar head of purple hair. Ivy Aster"Well, well, well. Speak of the devil and she shall appear," Tiki cooed as Ivy Aster, her protege, approached the two donned in a sports bra and shorts modeled after her match attire. "Though you've arrived early, you ended up being just in time, Ivy."
"The devil am I now?" Ivy said as she brushed her hair back. "You must have something quite interesting in mind then for todays training. Though I was expecting you to get creative since you're still recovering." The Englishwoman then took note of the smaller woman in attendance. "Annie Clark, correct? I believe I recognize you from Tiki's most recent match."
"Correct you are," Tiki said, a mischievous smirk as she kept close eye on Ivy's face. "Annie and I were just talking about her building a proper submission repertoire as her next stage of growth as a wrestler, and she was asking about a practice partner. And I do believe you're due for endurance and durability training today Ivy."
Ivy was naturally a very pale woman, so Tiki and Annie couldn't see her go pale, but the look on her face said enough. "So I'm to be a submission practice dummy for a woman strong enough to put you in the hospital," she said after a long pause. "Tiki, I trust you enough to believe that you aren't putting me in the hands of someone who would hurt me, but let it be known that I am not looking forward to this." The purplette then turned to Annie, "Would you rather I just be a warm body to handle so you can get comfortable with the positions and grips of your holds, or do you want me to attempt to resist and break out?"
Annie looked as Ivy came out, as she stared down her with a rather intense look. Annie knew she was in for a challenge if Ivy was her training partner for the day, she heard about the match between her and Chloe where she managed to submit the Pristine Beauty.
“Thanks, I remember when you submitted Chloe a while back. It’ll be fun to train with you.” Annie says before she nods and smiles.
“You can fight back if you want, I want a challenge and ragdolling someone would not be as fun.’’ Annie says, before getting in a grappling stance, waiting to see how Ivy would react.
"Well if it's your submission practice, and my durability training, then I had thought having me just take the holds would be natural," Ivy said. "But it seems you want more of a proper spar."
"That's perfectly fine. There is no reason that we can't work with that," said Tiki. "It's never hurt anybody to practice defensive technique, so here's what you'll do. Ivy will start out attacking, but only with strikes. I don't want would going for throws or holds, just keep attacking with strikes. And you, Annie, will defend until you can find or create an opening to start your submissions. However, you can't brute force your way through. You have to dodge, parry, or grab Ivy's attack so you can counter it. That way you have to use your technique to get through rather than your power. Obviously you win if you can manage a counter, and let's say that Ivy wins if she can knock you down before you can counter her."
"That works for me. Here I come, Annie," Ivy said as she got into her stance. Her striking was based very heavily in kicking; she opened with two swift kicks at Annie's thigh and knee to unsteady her, then jumped at the redhead and tried to fake her out with a Flutter Kick at her belly. Upon landing, Ivy would swing the leg she had just struck with up and around at Annie's head.
If Ivy got this far without Annie interrupting her, the Englishwoman would be turned to the side. Only now would she attack with something other than a kick, trying to twist back across with an elbow across Annie's jaw. Then Ivy would let her momentum carry her into a Roundhouse Kick that would connect her shin to the side of the Powerhouse's head. Then to finish, Ivy would jump up with her plant leg, her momentum further turning her so that her leg lined up with the Lightweight so that she could shoot it out, trying to floor Annie with a fourth consecutive heavy blow to her head.
“Alright I hope your ready.” Annie said before getting into a fighting stance, looking and staring down Ivy, looking forward to a spar with this purple haired woman. Anything she could do to get better; she must take advantage of that opportunity.
Annie looked as Ivy was about to make the first attack, she needed to watch what Ivy was doing, as she was primarily guarding her midsection and head.
However, Annie miscalculated Ivy’s first strike, as Ivy managed to kick Annie in the thigh. “AAH!” Annie yelped as she was kicked in the thigh and knee twice causing her to be wobbly. Ivy would fake her out with a flutter kick, causing Annie to guard her stomach, before Ivy kicked her in the head, causing Annie to step down to one knee, and having to take a deep breath.
Before long, she slowly got back up, determined to counter Ivy. “Okay partner, come at me now.” She said, before taking back her fighting stance.
Annie saw that Ivy was looking to elbow her. In response, Annie would attempt to reach out and grab her elbow to stop her. If that managed to work, she would attempt to hip toss Ivy onto the mat, and then attempt to lock on a quick cross armbar, wrapping her legs around Ivy’s arm and pull on it with her strength.
Ivy had been planning to put Annie down in three strikes; she managed to do it in three. After the first two prodding kicks destabilized the powerhouse, the Flutter Kick then proved enough to put her to a knee. Ivy held her position as Annie stood back up, and decided to pick up where she had left off in her string of attack. Perhaps a bit careless, but the purplette knew that she was going to be in Annie's submission holds sooner or later. So having gotten her point already, Ivy wouldn't be too upset if she gave the redhead an opening to counter here.
And counter Annie did, catching Ivy's elbow and sending the Englishwoman thudding onto her back. The American then used her pre-existing grip on Ivy's arm to drop down and lock her into an Armbar. "Grrh!" grumbled the larger woman as was trapped by the smaller girl. Strangely not as bad as she had been thinking for some reason, though.
"Not quite," Tiki said. "You need to push your hips up into Ivy's elbow, and then push her wrist down towards your chest. The goal is to bend the elbow upwards, you're more just pulling on Ivy's shoulder."
"Oh no," Ivy whimpered as she realized that Annie's Armbar was probably about to start hurting like it should.
Annie managed to lock in the armbar on Ivy, but as Tiki pointed out, she was applying it incorrectly, clearly not being experienced in applying submission holds, an inherent flaw in her game.
Listening to her, Annie started to adjust her game and the armbar. She attempted to push her hips up into Ivy’s elbow, and then push Ivy’s wrist down into her chest.
And hopefully that would deal a lot more damage to Ivy.
Yep, Ivy was right. This hurt like hell. "AAAAAAGGHHHH!!!" she wailed once Annie had locked in the Armbar properly. Her free hand clutched her hair in some attempt to ground herself as her feet slammed and thrashed into the mat.
"Come on, Ivy. Don't make it too easy for her," Tiki teased as she watched her protege writhe from the force of Annie's submission hold. "You're doing great, Annie. Keep at it."
Ivy knew that Tiki would be very displeased with her if she just tapped out without even trying to escape, which would likely mean being subjected to extra holds from Annie until she did start escaping. So once Ivy had endured to initial wave of pain enough to regain her ability to think, she would then bridge. From there, she would drop down and then spring her legs up and over to the side where Annie's head lay. Ivy's hope was that her long legs would have enough reach to strike the southerner in the head with a maximum extension kick.
Annie had the armbar locked in tight, probably the most amount of technical wrestling she had ever done in a single session. She pulled on it, not letting go no matter how much Ivy screamed in pain.
Because she was so focused on the armbar, Annie did not notice Ivy reorienting her position, until she received a swift kick to the face from Ivy’s shoe.
“AAH!” Annie said as she let go of her grip on the armbar, successfully freeing Ivy.
Thank CHRIST that worked, Ivy thought after her kick connected and managed to make Annie let go off her Armbar.
"Ooh, nice escape," said Tiki. "Didn't know you were that flexible."
"Well I had to be," Ivy replied. "I certainly wasn't getting out any other way with how badly that hurt." Ivy flexed her arm and held her elbow as she and Annie both got back to their feet. Tiki motioned for them to continue, which for the moment it meant it was time for Ivy to get back to striking.
Ivy had a combination she had been working on. Something which she viewed as a major progression towards the mastery of her fighting style as a kicking favored aerial striker. From about a step beyond range of a standing kick, Ivy would lean forward, knees bent and head down. The Middleweight's movement would be quick, barely a twitch. She only needed it to be enough to get Annie looking down, and herself set to go up.
Ivy leaped into the air, her head tucking in as it drifted away from Annie while her legs and lower body moved towards the redhead. She was doing a front flip at Annie, swinging her legs up, over, and then one leg down through the top of Annie's skull while the other bent towards the ground as Ivy prepared to land. The purplette would land in a crouch, and the instant she did so, it would be right back up. As Annie's head came down and forward from the Front Flip Kick, Ivy would try to blast her three times right under the chin. Once on the initial burst upwards, a second with the trailing leg, and then the third would be the first leg snapping back forward as a goodbye kiss from the attack. A Backflip Bicycle Kick that would send the Lightweight flying if it landed.
This move was something that Ivy was planning on turning into one of her signatures, though she didn't have a name for it yet. When she had first started practicing it with Tiki, her mentor had told her not to even think about a name until it was polished enough to use in a real match. Despite this being a sparring session, a part of Ivy hoped that her attack would be strong enough to knock Annie out cold, since that would be undeniable proof that her move had truly worked.
If it didn't, however, Ivy did have a backup plan. If Annie blocked the overhead, the pale skinned woman would land on her back instead of her feet, and scissor her legs around Annie's so that she could pull them out from under the American and drop her. Which would still technically be a win in the training drill. If Annie managed to counterstrike the Front Flip Kick however, or God forbid grab it and catch Ivy out of the air, well then she was most likely screwed

Annie was not expecting for Ivy to come straight at her, as her purple haired sparring partner coming straight at her from the air, looking to hit her right in the cranium with a kick. Before Annie could react, she was knocked right on her head. “AAAH!” Annie yelped as she took the first kick, taking a stumble and a couple steps back.
Annie knew that because she did not fall, Ivy was likely to continue her attack, and Annie knew she had to be ready for whatever came next.
When Ivy went for the Backflip Kick, Annie quickly tried to grab Ivy’s leg out of the air, declare “NOT AGAIN PARTNER!” and attempt to slam her right onto her back.
If that was successful, Annie would quickly attempt to turn Ivy onto her stomach and attempt a Single-Leg Boston Crab for the first time in her life, and pull back on her leg as much as possible.
