Never Too Late: Izumi and Sofia

Izumi just knew this spar would be a blast to get through, she had a eye for talent and was all about trying to see the most in what people could potentially do and so far Sofia wasn't disappointing at all. Forced down to the mat by the woman Izumi had to think quickly to try and lock in a arm bar on the woman as a retaliation against her. However Sofia wasn't quite done just yet, and honestly Izumi was glad for it as the woman not only stalled the move, but pushed between her legs and lifted her up before dropping her down for a improvised slam! "Ugh!" Izumi cried out in pain before trying to pull her legs in and then driving them out to try and kick Sofia away from her!

Sophia managed to get out of trouble she was in, though it was too close for comfort, or at least it would be if she had cause to fear Izumi would pull the submission to its full extent, in a sparring it was however unlikely. Now, having managed to score a quick if not very graceful slam, she thought she'd be in a good position to follow it up with a hold of her own but before she could, Izumi bent her legs and kicked her off.

Not wanting to be left completely empty-handed, Sophia would try to at the last moment, grab Izumi's leg. If successful, she'd try to force the woman to turn on her stomach after which she'd try bending the leg over her back, placing it behind her own nack as she'd try to deepen the stretch muffler she was locking in!

Izumi and Sofia's spar was certainly interesting so far to say the least. Predictably Izumi was starting off with the advantage for the most part, but Sofia was not making it easy for her, in fact she was making it quite difficult for her with things like that slam. Still not backing down Izumi would kick her opponent away... Only she wasn't completely able to get the woman away, her leg caught by the older woman and soon she was rolled over, her leg bent over Sofia's neck to secure a stretch muffler submission hold on her! "Aghhhhhh!" Crying out in pain and thrashing about on the mat from the hold it would be the first time that Sofia held a definite advantage over the Azure Dragon!

Managing to catch Izumi's leg and then manoeuvre the woman into a submission hold felt like a small miracle, the woman was fast and very clearly skilled... and there were some more things Sophia could say about how impressive the woman was but it really was not a place for such things. Still, she'd smile just a little "I think I'm getting a hang of this, wouldn't you say, darling?" She teased slightly as she kept the hold steady. She was sure Izumi had a plan to escape and the better move would be to try and further her position but it didn't quite feel right to be calculating for a victory in a sparring when the point was to train both offence and defence for both.

Izumi was veritably impressed by Sofia so far. For someone with supposedly no experience in wrestling her mind set and skill so far were not what Izumi would have expected from someone with no experience, but perhaps that could be chalked up to prior martial arts experience. Either way Izumi was still trapped in her opponent's stretch muffler submission, and she'd have to find some way out of this position. "Hah... You certainly seem to.. have a natural.. talent for it..." Izumi grunted out, pushing her hands against the mat and pushing herself up, twisting her torso around and trying to bring her free leg around to try and send some kicks towards the woman's chest to try and make her let go and back off from her!

"I'll take your word for it." Sofia said with a smile just as Izumi started to twist and turn to get out of the hold. For her part, the older woman tried adjusting and counteracting these moves but it only bought her a few more seconds of control before Izumi was on her back and with a series of quick upkicks forced Sofia to let go. The last of said kicks landed after Sofia already released the woman and tried stepping back, knocking her off balance and sending her stumbling against the ropes.

Despite the pain of the submission hold Izumi managed to keep her wits about her and force her opponent to release her grip on her before rolling away onto her knees. "Hah... You should." Izumi said with a heavy breath, rolling over onto her knees and pushing herself up to her feet. Looking up and noticing her sparring partner against the ropes Izumi would smirk slightly and start running as best she could after the damage her leg had taken before leaping up, pulling her leg up and forward, trying to go for a flying side kick aimed at Sofia's chest while she was against the ropes!

Getting tangled in the ropes was a new experience for Sofia. Back in her boxing days, the ropes were of course there but they just signified the limits of the ring, they were most typically rather loose, those here were not and it was enough to throw Sophia slightly off as she was untangling herself. When she finally was able to take a step away from the ropes she would find herself a target of another attack as Izumi would plant a flying kick squarely on Sofia's chest, sending her back to the ropes and sliding to the sitting position from the force of the impact!

Driving her foot into Sofia's chest with a flying side kick Izumi would land on her back before rolling backwards to seamlessly get into a standing position, watching as her opponent slid down to her but, leaning against the ropes. "Little bit of Kung Fu there, apologies." Izumi said playfully as she leaned down to grab hold of her opponent's feet and pull her forward to take her off the rope and drag her towards the center of the ring. If successful Izumi would try and cross the woman's legs over each other before trying to turn her over onto her stomach and stepping back before sitting down, attempting to try and lock in a Texas cloverleaf submission!

"No kidding..." Sofia commented briefly as she rubbed her chest from the impact and grimaced in discomfort. Before she could really do much more and try to get back up though, Izumi was already on top of her. Her feet grabbed, Sofia was quickly dragged away from the safety of the ropes and flipped over for Izumi to start applying the hold. Sofia's attempt at resisting it would only amount to a small delay before the pain started to spread through her legs and back as she groaned and slapped the mat, trying to think of a way out. None came immediately apparent but recalling the overall ruleset she'd try dragging them across the mat towards the ropes for a rope break!
