Never Too Late: Izumi and Sofia

Sophia made a fair counterpoint to Izumi's words, admittedly making her nod somberly in response. Personally she was always one to try and look on the bright side of things that could be useful. But to Sophia's credit some things were probably best left in the past.

"Yes I suppose that's fair. At least now you have that freedom to enjoy things now." Izumi said with a smile and nod to the woman before starting to slow her treadmill down, at it for almost a good ten minutes now while they had conversed to build up a layer of sweat, besides she wanted to look Sophia full on.

Laughing a bit Izumi would tuck some hair behind her ear before responding. "There is more to wrestling true, but its much easier to grasp when you've had experience in another form of fighting, at least in my opinion." Izumi said, extending her hands behind her to lead on one of the arms of the treadmill, giving Sophia a sultry look as a thought came to mind.

"As far as age..." Izumi said with a hum before continuing. "I've personally known people in their sixties that have tossed me across a yard, cracked a boulder and leapt across bamboo shoots. So believe me, age isn't nothing to someone that takes care of themselves and have confidence in what they can do." Izumi said in a gentle but confident tone that oozed genuineness to Sophia as she now waited for a response from the woman.

Sophia listened and when noticing Izumi started to turn the speed down, she did the same, soon enough turning the machine completely off before turning to face the woman. She wasn't quite ready for the look that Izumi gave her, pursing her lips in surprise all be it a pleasant one before smiling slightly. She didn't quite expect that kind of attention but she had to admit, it was pleasant and in a way she missed that feeling.

She'd step off the treadmill, put one hand on her hip and smile. "Well, miss" She said in a softer tone than before "Since you seem so invested in seeing me in the ring, why don't you show me the ropes? After all, when it comes to wrestling, you would be my senior." She said playfully, they had fun so far and a good sparing was always fun, no matter the discipline and Sophia had to admit she felt at least a bit curious about how Izumi handled herself by this point.

Having fully stopped the treadmill and seeing Sofia do the same it would seem that Izumi had garnered the older woman's interest which brought a small smile to the bluenette's face. "As funny as that thought is its not incorrect, and I'd be happy too." Izumi said with a wink towards Sofia before hopping off the treadmill. "Shall we go all out with our respective styles, or would you prefer to try more of what you've seen you're daughters do?" Izumi asked innocently while smiling over her shoulder and walking with a sway to her hips towards the practice ring.

Sophia followed Izumi to the ring, she was honestly finding herself quite a bit more excited than she would have suspected she would be, all be it, maybe a tiny bit distracted by the sway the woman put in her step. That last part came with at least a bit of embarrassment, she shouldn't be thinking like that... then again, it's not like she could help it and so help her god if it didn't seem intentional on Izumi's part.

Either way, as they made it to the ring, Sophia would slip between the ropes, thinking for a second about the question she was asked a moment ago. " The Point is to see if I can catch how the wrestling works, no? So I think we do that, there is bound to be plenty of our specialities on display either way. Well, at least that's what I think." She said, stretching her arms and legs for a moment before they'd begin

Izumi smiled softly and nodded at Sofia as she heard the woman's answer to hr question and she'd nod to her as she entered the ring and spun around to face Sofia as she did the same. Smirking slightly as she lifted her arms above her head and stretched a bit herself Izumi would hum softly before answering back. "Sounds reasonable enough! We'll keep it relatively light and fun then. Now... let's start." Izumi said with a nod to Sofia while raising her hands up in preparation, starting to circle Sofia with a grin on her face before darting forward, hands up to try and lock up with Sofia, pushing against her, early on for a collar elbow lock up!

Sophia was a bit anxious as Izumi entered and started to circle with her, she did try a spar like that when she firs started to work for LAW and it didn't exactly go badly but she was against a fellow coach and not an active wrestler. Still, at the very least they started with something she was more than familiar with as the other woman got close to engaging her in a lockup.

Years of Greco-Roman wrestling did not go to waste on Sophia and she quickly braced to not get pushed back. Typically she'd try to fish for angles and find a way for a takedown from here but it seemed in pro-style, a test of strength was a more common approach in a situation like this and past her prime or not, she was quite a bit bigger than Izumi was. With that in mind, she'd start to push the woman back, hoping to get her against the ropes!

Spars were always a good way to practice and keep yourself in tune, iron sharpens iron after all, and Izumi was trying to show Sofia this as the locked up in the center of the ring. Rather obviously Sofia was quick to take control given the size and strength disparity that Sofia held over Izumi, not that she would let the woman win so easily. Turning on her heel at the last possible moment Izumi would drop her weight while pulling Sofia over her to try and send her crashing towards the mat with a arm drag!

The very beginning of the spar felt comfortably familiar, lockups were important enough part of olimpic wrestling that Sophia wasn't feeling like she was treating new water, what followed was similarly familiar but this time, not to a point that would let her stop what unfolded. As Izumi turned and pulled Sophia's arm, the woman was forced up and over her sparing partner's shoulders as she crushed onto the ground!

Rounding her back, Sophia did her best to mitigate the damage from the arm drag itself. Now that she was on the ground her options were somewhat more limited than before but she had a plan, Izumi would likely still have a hold of her arm, an easy way to get a submission after the throw but Sophia would try to use it for her own advantage, turning her wrist to be able to grab Izumi's arm. If she managed that, she'd then turn her body, pull on the woman's arm to put her off balance before kicking at her legs to try to sweep her off her feet!

Izumi was having fun so far in this spar, even if it was only just starting. Managing to pull Sofia down to the mat with the arm drag Izumi was about to press her advantage before she was suddenly pulled in and felt a kick to her legs that knocked her down to the mat! "Ngh!" Izumi grunted out, but she wasn't done just yet. Despite her landing Izumi would look to reverse the grip of their hands before turning suddenly, and throwing her legs over Sofia's body before leaning back to try and lock in a arm bar!

Sophia was quite proud of herself for managing to take Izumi down to the ground, even if she only did that in retaliation to herself getting tossed on the mat. That however ended up not counting for much as she soon felt Izumi change her grip on her arm and with a swift motion got her legs over Sophia's chest ready to apply an armbar. Here, was where Sophia's lack of practice showed as she hesitated on what to do, which in a real fight might have given the other woman time to finish the hold but as it was, she'd manage to turn her wrist and subsequently put her elbow out of danger of being overextended.

Still, this was more of a stalling tactic than an actual solution, Izumi could still turn Sophia's hand with enough time and at that point, there would be little that the woman could do. wanting to avoid that, she would go to lift one of Izumi's legs off her chest with her other arm to make space for herself and if successful, slip in between her leg, rendering the hold null. Though not wanting to simply take another attack, she would try to grab Izumi's thigh on one side, while pushing her previously caught arm behind the woman's neck to grab her and lift her up briefly for an improvised slam!
