A New Helping Hand

Alba listened to her sparring partner talk about tabletops, looking a bit confused about the idea of it still. It made sense, and she was sure she probably heard of it before, but the idea of it didn't really make a whole lot of sense to her.

But still, she smiled and then said, "That sounds fun." Although, she wasn't sure if it was her kind of fun exactly. She wasn't about to judge her on what she enjoyed though.

"Nerdy is fine though. I'm sure there are plenty of girls who are into nerdy things around here. You can probably find plenty of them!" offered Garcia, brushing a hand through her sweaty hair with a deep breath.

She put her hands on the edge of the bench and leaned back a bit before glancing up at the ceiling. "I like to dance in my free time. And I like to knit as well. And I like watching reality dating shows... Sometimes because I don't think I'll get any romance like that in my life," joked Alba sigh a small smile. She figured she should share her interests too with her friend now as well.

"That was always a problem... wrestling and nerding don't usually mix. But, the League is about... thirty times the size of my last couple of promotions combined, so I think I have a much better chance, you're right." And June certainly didn't plan to bemoan her lack of success to someone she had decided to help and someone with whom she hoped she could keep in contact. Sure, sparring didn't lead to much chatter, but they had a good rapport already. Having Alba in her contacts as the person she could call whenever she wanted to go out and find a good place to eat or-

Before she could ask, Alba beat her to it, explaining her hobbies, and June provided her undivided attention. Dancing... June didn't do dancing. Not because she didn't like the idea of it - actually, she found a lot of dancing looked extremely fun - but because she didn't have the first idea about how to do it. Same thing with knitting. She could sit for hours painting miniatures, and knitting didn't sound so different.

But the last one almost pulled an aww from her if she hadn't thought it would be condescending. Her face did scrunch up with all the motion of an aww, though. "Oh no waaaaay. If someone who-" She whipped out her fingers and counted out each one. "-looks like you, is as friendly as you, and can dance has no chance for reality show romance, then we're all doomed." She nodded, reassuring Alba that she was totally right. "You're basically an eleven just with those three in your quiver."

Alba Garcia blushed a bit as she heard the high praise from her new friend. She bashfully brushed some hair behind her ear and shrugged, smiling softly. She didn't have the highest self-esteem. A place like LAW with her record certainly wasn't making her feel like she was worth much, let alone viable to having a love life.

"Gracias," answered Garcia before letting out a deep sigh. "I do have a few things going for me, but..." She gestured to the ring in front of them. "Being a loser seems to be a bit of a turn off, I think."

Rolling her eyes up, she rocked back on the bench. "But we do not need to talk about my lack of a love life. We could talk about plans for tonight, maybe? If you're free? I could stand to unwind a bit." Alba felt comfortable enough to make the offer, offering a warm smile at June. She definitely felt like this girl was someone she could stand to spend more time with. God knows she could stand to have more friends now. And maybe this chance meeting was precisely what Alba needed.
