Genevieve’s training: Lesson 3 - Promos

Genevieve entered the gym with an assignment from Lexi. Today she was gonna learn some English and also do a practice promo to decide if she wanted to be a heel or a face once she makes it to the main roster. Genevieve was very excited as she looked around, trying to find Lexi.

« Je suis tellement excité d’essayer de pratiquer les promos. Je me demande quel rôle je vais jouer. Peut-être que je peux être cette douce fille française qui fait son chemin dans le DROIT. C’est à peu près pour cela et pourquoi je suis ici. Mais peut-être que je peux jouer un méchant. me donner l’air d’un dur. (“I’m so excited to try out practicing promos. I wonder what role I’m gonna play. Maybe I can be this sweet French girl making her way through LAW. That’s pretty much what and why I’m here for. But maybe I can play a bad guy. make myself look tough.”)

She would spot Lexi before running up to her and waving at her.

« Lexi ! Lexi ! Je suis venu ici aussi vite que possible. Je suis tellement excité de pratiquer les promos aujourd’hui. (“Lexi! Lexi! I came here as fast as I could. I’m so excited to be practicing promos today.”)

Lexi was waiting in the gym for her student Genevieve to arrive to see how she was progressing with promos. Clad in jeans and a t shirt, Lexi didn't feel like wear her usual attire due to not planning on any actual wrestling during todays lesson. Lexi didn't have to wait long she soon heard the French girl running and callout out to her. The Texan smiled happy to see her so happy and excited. Lexi decided to speak entirely in English, it as going to be a useful skill for Genevieve to know it. "Hey cutie" Lexi said jokingly while rubbing Genevieve on the top of the head before giving her a hug. "I'm glad to see your excited so I won't keep you waiting" Lexi said before leading the two inside of the practice ring. "So, how do you want this to go?" the Texan asked sticking her hands in her pockets awaiting her students answer.

As Genevieve heard Lexi speak in English, she realized that this was also an English lesson for her as she did need to speak English for her promos to reach her audience. Genevieve would nod as she tried her best to speak English as well.

“I vant to try and- I want to try bowth a Face and a Heal promo.”

Genevieve gave Lexi a smile as this was the best attempt at speaking English to Lexi. She was waiting for her approval.

Lexi's smile widened as she heard Genevieve speaking English. "Hey! Your English is getting so much better" Lexi said enthusiastically taking her hands out of her pockets to give Genevieve a high five. Lexi paused for a minute afterword's though when she heard Genevieve wanted to try a heel promo. "You? A heel?" Lexi said surprised considering how sweet and innocent Genevieve seemed. 'Alright go ahead and start with which ever one you want" Lexi said waiting for Genevieve to begin.

“Oh K”

Genevieve would enter the ring and hold out an imaginary microphone. She then decided to start with a heel promo. She took her time trying her best to enunciate English. Genevieve took a deep breath and did her best bad girl impression before beginning her promo.

“Yow uhl zhut up. I’m tuhlkieng right now. Az yu uhl know, i’m here to fil in de bootz of me gruhndfuhder. He wuhz de biggezt freench ztuhr in de eentire cownchre of fruhnce before he wuhz murdered in cold blood. I’m here uhz hiz veengeuhnce uhz i wuhnt to find hiz kiler owt in de crowd. So uhl of yu law ztuhrz owt dere know duht i’m not here to win zome populuhrite cuhtezt. I’m brieng yu de worzt zide of freench wreztlieng uhnd wuh’t be ztoppieng wheen yu wuhve eowr white fluhg.”

Genevieve then smiled as she looked at Lexi. She felt real powerful after that promo and was waiting to see what she thought of it.

"Comment ai-je fait?" (“How did I do?”)

Lexi listened to Genevieve's promo carefully realizing she was attempting the heel promo which caused Lexi to shrug a bit. "It was ok I guess. It's just you're so sweet, I don't see you being a heel" Lexi confessed as she crossed her arms and took a few steps towards Genevieve. "I don't mean anything negative by that either" Lexi added wanting to make sure Genevieve knew she wasn't trying to be mean or harsh. It was just in Lexi's brain after getting to know Genevieve she was a very sweet, caring, and understanding girl.

Genevieve nodded and would try out a face promo. This time, she would feel in her natural position. She would do the same tactic of enunciating English as she took her time.

“Helo uhl of yu lovele law beuhutiez. Me nuhme iz geenevieve uhnd i’m excited to be ztuhndieng in diz rieng. Az yu muhe not know, i’m de gruhndduhughter of de greuht freench wreztler who chruhgicuhle wuhz murdered in de rieng. However, i’m pleuhzed to be folowieng in hiz footztepz uhnd uhlzo find de perzuh who kiled him. But uhz of right now, i cuhn’t wuhit for de ztuhrz i’l be fuhcieng in de rieng.”

Genevieve then looked at Lexi for her approval. She felt good as this was more natural to her and she acted like herself, apart from speaking English of course.

Lexi shrugged and nodded after Genevieve's promo though she thought it felt a little robotic. "Bit better here lets try something? Lexi said taking the scripts from Genevieve and tossing them aside before smiling and taking Genevieve's hands. "Try doing one from the top of your head and try to make your English more clear so people can understand you ok" Lexi said with encouragement in her voice trying to build off Genevieve's impressive progress.

Genevieve nodded as she then stood in the middle of the ring and tried her very best to nail this off the top of her head promo.

“ Bonjour mes belles amies. I am so glad to be wrestling in the LAW Young Lioness program with all these beautiful faces around me. It gives me great passion to be wrestling in front of all of you and I’m hoping I can become one of your favorite superstars. I am letting you all know that my goal is to be like my grandpapa and wrestle for the millions of crowds here. I’m also on a mission to find the person who murdered my grandpapa in the ring. I’m excited to face all new wrestlers and I will make it my mission to show LAW what the daughter of the great French wrestler can do.”

Genevieve was surprised when she did that promo in perfect English. She had a very heavy French accent but she did it off the top of her head and nailed it.

Lexi's eyes widened and a wide smile appeared on her face as she heard Genevieve's perfect English and decent promo off the top of her head. When her student was finished Lexi walked up and picked Genevieve up with a hug. '"That was amazing" Lexi said with a grin before finally setting Genevieve down after a few seconds. 'It was better than some of the promo's I hear on the main roster, I think you have it absolutely nailed down" Lexi said still impressed with her student.
