Meeting a rising Emerald Star

Kate saw Collei suddenly dart to the ropes and that was enough for her to know what was about to happen. She waited for the girl to bounce and then took a sidestep to avoid the hit. When Collei landed she would throw a kick at her side.

Meanwhile, Huan commented. "You need to set that move up, if she just sees you do it, it's easy to dodge."

As the kick landed, Collei yowled incessantly, holding her side with quite a horrified grimace on her side. Her plan had failed, as she had kind of expected, but she did not expect to fail this badly, only to get kicked so hard in her hip. She tried to get up again, writhing in agony, but was struggling to put eight on that side of her body. She eventually did manage to get up, but it was obvious she was in a lot of discomfort.

Hearing Collei cry out in pain made Kate's blood run cold. She did not intend to actually hurt her in just a sparring but maybe she didn't pull away enough force and struck harder than she realized. Regardless, well being of her partner was the most important so she approached in a nonconfrontational pose, hands forward to signal they were not fighting. "Jesus, are you ok? I didn't mean to... I'm sorry!" she said in a slightly panicked tone really hoping that the girl was ok.

Collei groaned, clutching the hip that was struck. There was no clear damage, and Collei nodded slowly to show Kate that she was okay.

"Yeah. I am fine, just... Give me a moment. I am rather tender around there, sadly." Collei admitted, rubbing her hip slowly as the pain slowly eased off. About 5 minutes later, she had recovered enough to get back into a standing position without needing to grab her hip. That was not a pleasant experience for the Enigma.

"I'll try to avoid that spot then." Kate said, unsure of what she could do now, in the absence of ideas a hug seemed like a gesture that one would offer as an apology so she would offer one for a brief moment before backing up and letting her partner recover. She also made a mental note to pull her punches more, it was not supposed to be hard sparring so there was no need to pack so much power that it could seriously hurt.

When Collei was back to normal, she would approach the centre of the ring, repeating the gesture of bumping fists before stepping back and once more letting the girl begin the round.

Collei bumped fists once again, an this time learned to not use moves with a long wind up. She wasn't exactly sure how to proceed, so she decided to try and throw a feint punch to her left, before attempting a kick to her opponents hip from the right.

Kate saw the punch coming her way and was ready to dodge and counter but just then the kick found her hip, making her stumble and stopping her plan before it could start. She would smile and nod to Collei to show that she thought it was a good move before going forward with her own.

Throwing a right hook Kate would step forward, switching from the orthodox to a southpaw stance, pulling the punch at the end to make it felt but not too painful. Then she would move her body as if to spin in an opening move she was sort of known for but instead of doing that and finishing with a backfist, she would stop and throw a low kick just above the girls knee.

Collei fell for the same trick that Kate just did, blocking the feint, and not paying attention to the kick to her lower thigh. She grunted a bit, with a slight flinch, but she was getting used to being attacked now. She backed off a bit, just out of reach, before jumping back in suddenly and attempting an enzuigiri.

Kate reset to her usual stance and suddenly found Collei flying at her. The girl was fast and there was no way to get out of the way forcing her to take full force. Of the attack on her guard which still made her stumble and groan as pain spread through her forearms.

Instead of trying to stop her movement though Kate would step with the momentum, turning her body and rotating her hips with the leg extended to head height for a spinning heel kick.

Collei had fast reactions, able to adapt a quick single armed guard which absorbed a little of the woman's heel kick. She then counter attacked with a knee to Kate's gut, and then grabbing her opponents head and spinning her into a headlock.
