Proof of Fang: Yuki Kazikura vs Shimmerlace Snuggleblossom

Unread post by Malkavia »

Match Type: Best 2 out of 3
Rules: Falls are awarded on pinfall, submission, or knockout

Backstage, Shimmerlace whistled. While she adjusted her lacy, white hair-pin and tightened the bows on her corset, she trilled a jig. This pre-match ritual started at her debut. On a day that jittery it had been sing or pop. Today, she concentrated on every forced note.

The outfit, too, had changed. The Marauder pillaged Shimmerlace’s debut attire, then her minivan, a car from college days carrying thousands of dollars worth of costume, makeup, and art. But the first target, Thistlebro — Shimmer's pet rabbit, her friend, the only connection to life before LAW — hurt the worst.
Then

And then…life unfurled. As she frowned, applying eye-liner, all that space rewound in her mind’s eye. She spent a week swinging in a gibbet, met her idol the Arma-Gil-o (and made art from her butt), fought her first male opponent, won matches, lost others…on and on. Angelina never reared her head. The Scarlet Terror disappeared into the hills, and Shimmerlace came home to an apartment smaller than when she’d found it.

Now it was eight months on, two Apex qualifiers behind Shimmerlace, one to go and then…her shot at taking it all back.

As Shimmerlace checked her contacts in a round mirror, and adjusted her makeup with a pad, she mused—what if she lost? Would she get another shot? Probably. Angelina liked being chased. But third, fourth, and fifth chances take time, and rabbits — like comets in the sky — only live a precious little time. And she’d never have a stage this grand again.

But—such bullshit did not belong ringside. Shimmerlace plucked each dark emotion bubbling behind her pink contacts, one by one, like fish from a pond, and stuffed them into corked glass bottles. She grinned, glowing pink, one hundred percent fairy down to her gleaming fangs.

When the truth is found…to be lies!

No smoke, no explosions, no harness and a dive from the roof, no thousand-dollar props—for the match against Yuki, Shimmerlace stepped into nothing but rose-tinted stage light.

The Pixie leapt to the second rope, grasped the post, and gazed grinning at the audience. ”Good evening, ladies and gentlemen of the Eastern hemisphere!” Cunts and cuntesses. Though actually the Coterie only occupied a few pink pock-marks scattered among a packed set of seats.

By now, Shimmerlace had experienced many different kinds of audiences. As a stage magician, the Feychild had known them hot, cold, bored, quiet, raucous, loud, rude, had known the boos and the cheers and the gasps and the over-enthusiastic ones to be avoided after the curtain dropped. But LAW took it to another level. Just look at the cosplaying freaks supposedly in her corner.

But tonight’s energy still hit differently. Unlike her coterie, these fans didn’t come bearing obnoxious, geeky badges of enthusiasm for Yuki or LAW. Many of the marks were well-dressed and looked to be polite in that stereotypically Japanese way, developed (so it was said) to make social life bearable on an overstuffed island. But, also unlike her fans, not one of these fans was on their phone. That was almost hard to believe (surely one of them must have a babysitting crisis? An emergency contact from work?) but she searched, and all eyes fixed on the ring. Buzzing with anticipation. Each was their own person and showed excitement uniquely. Some you could read it from their forward lean, their grinning, their constant overeager applause; others were reserved, but you could still catch their engagement by the shine in their eyes. The glow from the ring reflected hazily on them, and they glowed and shivered back.

Shimmerlace licked her lips, a smile creeping to her face—and hopped to the slight bounce of the mat. No puns or magic tricks today, kiddos. She crossed her legs, leaned into her post, and waited.

Re: Proof of Fang: Yuki Kazikura vs Shimmerlace Snuggleblossom

Unread post by CaptainL »

Backstage, Yuki sucked in a breath. Just a week ago, she had last run into Shimmerlace Snuggleblossom - the pink-haired girl had called her out specifically to issue a challenge to a match. And not just any match - an Apex qualifier! Even though Yuki was already qualified for Apex, Shimmerlace had set her sights on her to be the final obstacle in her way to proving herself a worthy contender for the World Openweight Championship. And for good reason, too - for Shimmer, this went far beyond the title.

Yuki, too, had a history with Angelina Tarrant. It had been the Marauder who had given her her last match - a frantic, harrowing, back-and-forth affair that pushed both girls to their limits and beyond. Not even the ring could contain them as their brawl broke out onto the floor and up the barricade, where even the referee wasn't safe for their fury. Both had been left bruised and battered, and both had been pushed to the brink of unconsciousness - yet the fire that burned within both of them still raged, and it still forced them to discover strength they didn't even realize they had inside their hearts, causing them to throw themselves back into the fray! Yuki had put everything she could into trying to stop Angelina. She had to - if she failed now, after going so far, it would be proof that she wouldn't have it in her to surpass the greatest challenge of her life. If Angelina had forced her to use everything she had and that wasn't enough, then she was hopeless.

For a moment, it looked as though Yuki's victory was in the cards. She had Angelina up in the air, in position for the Warrior Sacrifice. She was prepared to hurl her to the mat. And then, it happened. At the last moment, when she had Angelina held aloft, Yuki's back gave out, weakened by the force it had endured. She had let Angelina go. And from there, the redhead was able to swoop in and win the match. Yuki had lost.

And more importantly, Yuki had lost to Angelina. That told Shimmerlace one thing. If she was going to take the Marauder down, she would have to take Yuki out first. Yuki had set the bar for what it took to take Angelina on. And if Shimmerlace couldn't beat Yuki, she stood no chance at beating Angelina.

Yuki took in a few deep breaths, getting herself psyched up for the match ahead of her. She had seen a few of Shimmerlace's matches in preparation for this one, and that told her how...eccentric her foe could be, standing quite in contrast to Yuki's professional, businesslike, no-nonsense attitude. Still, she knew it would be a mistake to underestimate what Shimmerlace was capable of. She might have been a self-styled fairy - Yuki wasn't sure to what degree she believed that to be the truth - but she was still a trained wrestler, and she surely had plenty of tricks up her sleeve. She had to be ready.

All the same, Yuki couldn't help but notice that, although the announcer called for Shimmerlace's entrance, what followed was...surprisingly quiet. No pyrotechnics going off, no sparklers, even the roar of the crowd was hushed. Curious, she peered out from around the edge of the curtains, where she noticed how Shimmer's entrance had changed - more dour, more somber, and more serious. Yuki raised an eyebrow curiously. She had seen what Angelina had done to her - and she had been frightened by the brutality of her defeat. But it seemed Shimmerlace was affected most of all.

Still, Shimmer had entered the ring. And that was Yuki's cue. As the announcer named off her entrance, the raven-haired joshi stepped out from behind the curtains, brushing her hair back over her shoulders. She got plenty of cheers, but she too showed the fans no smiles or waves. Her eyes fixed on the ring with a sense of purpose, and she sucked in a deep breath. Shimmer needed her here to prove herself. And if that was what she wanted...Yuki would give her the challenge she was after.
Spoiler

Yuki came to the bottom of the ring, where she ducked in under the ropes. There, she held her back straight, staring up at Shimmerlace as her hands balled into fists. She offered only two words to announce what lay ahead of them as she nodded her head. "I'm ready."

Re: Proof of Fang: Yuki Kazikura vs Shimmerlace Snuggleblossom

Unread post by Malkavia »

The Maître of the Teatime Court clutched the second rope, wringing it between her palms as she shifted left to right. Roseate wings beat in her chest. Shiverlace the Midnight Blizzard, Quiverlace of yellow skin, Lord Admiral Snuggleblossom of the Seelie Fleet—they crawled with long talons along her inside walls. They heard the music; they wanted out. But…fuck ‘em. For eight months, those joyous cunts got to play high carnival. If it took burying it all for one match to lay hands on violet treasure, then stuff their pie holes with pungent soil.

Cheers erupted for Yuki’s entrance. Shimmerlace made eye contact with the Kazikura prodigy and held it. There was a lot Shimmerlace didn’t understand about her opponent—a lot that, honestly, confused her. But she could at least admire the grit in her look, her apparent indifference to the marks, her laconic remark. There was purity in her devotion to wrestling. Once her opponent was in the ring, Shimmerlace put a hand on her knee and bent forward out of her corner, biting her tongue while she grinned.

DING DING DING!

Shimmer darted in synchrony with the third bell-strike. By now she had passed through enough matches to know the gray kinds of openings—dart and punch, dart and kick, test of strength, gorilla and circle…all the standard wrestling porridge from a playbook Yuki could no doubt perform far better than Shimmer.

Instead, the Feychild dove into a move she’d seen in only one other competitor. Halfway across the ring, she stepped into a cartwheel, hands to the mat—one, two, fractions of a second apart—legs twisting a pink blur of arc, up, over, to the mat. Her feet stepped onto the mat, anchoring them, but the momentum continued up through her body. Shimmer imagined it as pink electricity starting at her ankles and rocketing up her legs, through her hips, towards her twisting shoulders. She had landed with her back towards Yuki, which allowed her to take that twisting momentum and unfurl into a spinning fist aimed at her head.

Re: Proof of Fang: Yuki Kazikura vs Shimmerlace Snuggleblossom

Unread post by CaptainL »

Those two words were all Yuki had to say - they were enough to sum up everything she felt about the match she was about to throw herself into. She was ready - she had prepared herself to give Shimmerlace every bit of the fight she wanted. And if Shimmer wanted to see her push herself to her limits, to give her the same fight she had given Angelina Tarrant, and to measure her opponent's abilities against the endurance test that had been her last match, then Yuki was going to deliver - she wouldn't hold back!

Her eyes narrowed in a watchful stare, Yuki bent lower at the knees, her body tense and her stance leaving her ready to spring forward and strike at a moment's notice. Her hands were raised, her fingers curled inward to clutch at anything that came her way. She didn't know what to expect from Shimmerlace. She knew the girl could be unpredictable, in both her presentation and her performance - and when even the image she had sold herself on was beginning to crack, Yuki couldn't even expect that. Still, that just gave her all the more of a reason to be on her guard. If she couldn't predict what would happen next, she would just be vigilant, and hope she'd be able to adapt to anything Shimmer threw at her.

Shimmerlace seemed to kick this match off with a charge, closing into range with Yuki. Okay. She could handle that. She leaned her head inward in what was one part a nod and one part a gesture of keeping her eyes on her foe, as she prepared herself for the moment Shimmer would strike - when that happened, she'd be ready to counter, to parry her blow and throw back one of her own, or to turn the momentum of any move she made against her. At least, that's what Yuki had thought. Because while Shimmerlace had started this match off conventionally, she would just as quickly shift gears to something that was anything but - as she dropped down to cartwheel across the ring!

Yuki gasped. For just a few seconds, her guard was broken; her attention faltered, and her posture eased. How, she asked herself, was she supposed to protect herself against this? Shimmer was moving too quickly to adequately watch for an opening, and her techniques were so unorthodox Yuki didn't have a response ready off the top of her head. But then, she shook that out of her thoughts, and when her eyes settled back on Shimmerlace, they were burning with a determined glare. Yuki might not have seen this move a lot, but it didn't take long for her to surmise what Shimmer was trying to do by it. By throwing herself forward in a twirl, she would surely be gathering speed behind her, and closing in on Yuki would put her in range to strike by the time she stopped. She had to have a blow incoming!

Yuki had to be ready for that. She brought her arms up closer to her chest to defend herself, and as Shimmer came closer, she bent over backward, attempting to dodge out of the way of the incoming strike! If Yuki managed to avoid taking the hit, she would reach out to grab Shimmer's fist as it swung by, and then use that to pull her arm forward, dragging Shimmerlace into the path of a knee aimed at her chest!

Unread post by Malkavia »

At any point she could slip, buckle, misstep. She might topple over a misplaced hand, collapse on a rolled ankle—another Snugglebutt special. Instead, each move clicked. The twirls, the flip, the landing all felt correct in the bone-deep, glittery way of hard steps deeply learned. Her smile stretched, almost jagged, until she struck thin air.

She stumbled, then choked as she took a knee to her chest. Her feet hopped an inch, then slunk back to Earth. Spittle sprayed the mat as the crowd roared, Shimmer’s gut splintering, body sagging from butterfly-light to sandbag-dense. Shimmerlace was discovering that expertise, when it has dug deep enough roots, is more than rote response to learned situations: it is a framework that can absorb surprise, integrate the novelty into its towering superstructure, and improvise a lightning-quick response.

The temptation would have been to breathe, to follow inertia by hanging, one, two seconds suspended over the knee-strike. Instead, the Pixie laughed, though through her grit teeth and clenched abs it came out like a bass croak from a bullfrog. At the same time, on a dime pivot, she aimed a shoulder at Yuki’s sternum and heaved. She tried to take advantage of Yuki’s proximity, wrap her arms around the smaller wrestler, and charge her spine-first into the ring post.

Re: Proof of Fang: Yuki Kazikura vs Shimmerlace Snuggleblossom

Unread post by CaptainL »

Yuki needed to think fast - Shimmerlace had charged into this match at full speed, taking off with great intensity the moment the bell had rang. When Yuki preferred to keep a steady pace, monitoring her foes' moves and preparing a calculated response accordingly, she found herself caught off guard by the explosive start the match had taken, nearly blindsided by Shimmerlace's charge. What she knew was that, whether she was prepared or not, she couldn't let her guard down. If she got hit now, it would be a disastrous blow, one that threatened to take her out of the match before it had even begun. And Yuki couldn't allow that to happen - not when she had pledged to show Shimmerlace the fullest of her potential!

Acting half on instinct and half on preparation, Yuki swerved out of the way of Shimmer's incoming fist, allowing it to pass over her head. She didn't have time to think through what she was going to do - all that mattered now was that she had to do something. And now that Shimmerlace's punch had hung in the air, that meant Yuki had the fulcrum she needed to bring her down. When she grabbed the girl's wrist, she was going to pull her inward, into the path of her rising knee. It would take the momentum of Shimmer's charge and turn that against her, tempering it into the thrust of a lance that was heading straight for her chest - and when Yuki felt her blow connect with a thud, it brought a smile to her face. She could rest assured now that she was still in this! Shimmerlace might have been off to a strong start. But she wasn't going to make it easy for her!

Now that Yuki had scored a blow, she thought the rest would be easy enough. She would be able to press her momentum now that Shimmer had been stunned, striking from close range. Except, as would soon become apparent...Shimmerlace wasn't stunned at all! It didn't matter that the sounds leaving her mouth were choked and breathless - the fact that she still had it in her at all was enough to tell Yuki that Shimmerlace was made of tougher stuff than she had bargained for. As her jaw dropped in a gasp, her eyes went wide and she began to shrink back - and in that moment of shock, she was open, just long enough for Shimmerlace to score a blow of her own!

First came the shoulder against Yuki's chest, driving the weight of Shimmerlace's body against hers. She teetered back on her heels, almost losing her balance as she folded inward. Then, Shimmer was able to get her arms around the girl's sides, and she took off for the corner post at top speeds! Wrapped up in Shimmer's grasp, Yuki had nowhere to go but screaming backward, carried along by her charge. And the next thing she knew, it all came to a stop with the sound of a loud clang, as her back rammed into the post, driving the air from her lungs!

Groaning and wincing, Yuki began to sink lower. Her eyelid twitched as she stared back up at Shimmerlace. Even the act of drawing in breath caused a shudder to run through her body from her sore ribs. Everything hurt, and there had been no time for that pain to dull. But even as she needed to pant for breath, when Yuki looked back up at Shimmerlace, she knew one thing - she couldn't stop now. As long as she could still draw breath...then she had to fight back, no matter the cost!

Letting out a muffled roar through her clenched teeth, Yuki looked to launch her attack from the corner! She reached up to grab for the pink-haired girl's shoulders while she still had her close. If that worked to steady her position, she would kick up her legs, attempting to get them around her foe's waist to clamp down a bodyscissor!

Re: Proof of Fang: Yuki Kazikura vs Shimmerlace Snuggleblossom

Unread post by Malkavia »

Yuki had something in common with Angelina: she was a towering presence with enough shadow to blot out the whole of the ring. Which made you forget she was also…small. The ease with which Shimmerlace could move her opponent across the mat was shocking, as if she had prepared to lift a concert piano only to discover a facade was made from styrofoam. As she charged towards the ringpost, she had a sense of running downhill, galloping faster than intended, prone to losing control any second.

Then, the crash. Yuki groaned. Shimmerlace inwardly sparkled. Of course she did. Explosions are part of what make wrestling a game worth playing—your boot to her jaw, your fist to her gut, your shoulder to her ribs. Endorphins sing in your veins, a wave roils the crowd, she wilts in your arms…Magic like a girl can find nowhere else.

But that was a cheap card trick compared to the way Yuki coiled and then sprung back. Shimmerlace could feel her body tighten, could almost sense the fractions of a second wherein her opponent caught her focus, zeroed in on her target. The bellow that erupted from the younger woman made Shimmer’s skin pull goose-bump tight. That rumble made every word Yuki’d spoken up to that point seem pale by comparison.

And it got better. Shimmerlace had loosened her grip on Yuki, started to take a step back in a half-implemented phase two to her attack when the younger woman gripped her shoulders and yanked her back in. Her thighs caught Shimmer around her waist, back went arch, abs clenched. The whole body went to work squeezing the vise—which helped explain how such lithe, thin legs could collapse ribs and make breathing hurt.

It wasn’t just breathing. Shimmerlace had to grip the top rope to keep from toppling face-first into the post above Yuki. The pain at her sides was one thing, but the much larger concern was the restriction it put on her movement. Want to walk? You’ll need to stabilize with back and core muscles or balance is going to become a serious issue. The longer Yuki’s grip splintered the trunk of Shimmer’s body, the more work just standing upright would become. Sweat beaded just under Shimmer's hairline as the pressure around her core crushed her hourglass-wise and beyond.

The feychild pushed off the ropes, forced herself shakily to balance on her feet, then locked her arms around Yuki’s legs, teeth grinding into her lower lip. She peddled back to the center of the ring. They were climbing, but there was still an atmosphere yet to ascend and many miles to cross. The next move would need some space.

Re: Proof of Fang: Yuki Kazikura vs Shimmerlace Snuggleblossom

Unread post by CaptainL »

The impact with the ring post had taken something out of Yuki. All the air had been evicted from her lungs, and her spine had twisted back into an arc against the hammer-like force of the blow. Even now, she winced, and her ribs moved in and out as she heaved for breath; her chest was burning up as though every breath she took was full of hot air. But even through eyes that were narrowed in pain, and through hair that had been plastered to her brow with sweat, Yuki could see her opponent. And that told her that as long as she still had any fight in her at all, she needed to throw everything she had at her opponent! She couldn't go down until she'd exhausted everything she had left in her - until she simply couldn't fight any longer. That was what Shimmer wanted from her, and that was what she was ready to give her!

Her fingers tightening around her foe's shoulders, Yuki's knuckles went white as her tenacious grip alone pulled her in against Shimmer, using the momentum the impact had knocked into her to fuel her! From there, she kicked her legs up and laced them around her opponent's sides! Yuki had to bend in closer in order to get into position, and doing so put more strain on her spine - strain that did her no favors when her back was still sore. But the alternative was surrender. The alternative was backing down, and conceding that she hadn't shown Shimmerlace the depths of what she could do. When she thought of that, Yuki could feel herself growing more and more emboldened by the threat of defeat and disgrace. She needed to avoid that at all costs! And it was that reminder that brought out a new strength in her, as she scowled with defiance and straightened her back, pulling herself in closer!

Her legs could only squeeze tighter still around Shimmer's sides, and her fingers clamped around her shoulders as though she was a castaway holding onto the side of a boat - she couldn't let go; her life depended on it! Shimmerlace had begun to back out of the corner, and Yuki shuddered as she did - each step she took caused her to wobble from side to side, her balance tested with every inch she teetered. Her teeth clenched tightly as she sucked in breath with a hiss. She couldn't concede an inch. She had to exert every bit of effort she had to stay on, but that was something she was willing to do. And if holding onto Shimmer's shoulders wasn't doing it...she'd just have to adjust!

As her brow furrowed in focus, Yuki let go of Shimmerlace's shoulders just enough to lean in closer. Her back curled up even more, causing her vertebrae to pop and groan, and a shudder of pain to run through her body. But even still, she would move to sling her arm around Shimmerlace's throat - and hold on with a guillotine choke!

Re: Proof of Fang: Yuki Kazikura vs Shimmerlace Snuggleblossom

Unread post by Malkavia »

The vise around Shimmerlace’s throat tripped an alarm, a bestial-court instinct to rally her claws to the neck. The jugular vein and carotid artery are the body’s most sensitive lifelines, and the iron grip squeezed them both, pumped blood, and inflated Shimmer’s brain. Stars danced in her eyes. She felt dizzy, like she’d just snuffed a puff of sandman’s dust. Dizzy was dangerous. Dizzy was a path to curled up bug on the mat, hands flat on the ground, kneeling with back bent in submission, and then to dreamless, black, needle-pricked sleep. The Feychild had to avoid that position at all costs.

Yet in spite of the danger, Shimmerlace also became keenly aware of Yuki’s body. Yuki’s abs pressed against her cheek, thighs hugged Shimmer’s gut, chest curled over her head, arms embraced her in a death-grip. Yuki’s breath became a constant in and out squeeze and release. The sharp tang of her slight, athlete’s body odor filled the already thick, hot air. There were messages telegraphed from the violence and speed of her movements, from the heaviness of her breath, and from the power of her grip.

Shimmerlace sculpted a reply. She felt the ground beneath her feet, found a solid center, and tightened her core—painfully, against the still-stony scissors—while her back pulled straight. Her hands clasped, formed a lock behind Yuki, and squeezed. The wrestlers’ bodies formed a seal as tight as the groove down the center of a walnut shell. Two, three seconds had clocked by since the choke locked in. Shimmer’s face flushed cold. Blood, now starving, prickled at the numbing tips of her nose and ears. Drool ran down her jaw.

Cunts and cuntesses. Even as she teetered on the edge of falling like a rotten tree-trunk, Shimmerlace could sense the crowd like the walls of an angry hive, leaning in, anticipating the next twist in the fight. Above them, cameras, and who knew who else, took notes.

The Seelie Scion flexed her core until it ached, pushed through her legs like a rocket at the zero-count, and attempted to send Yuki on an arc up, into the clouds, then down headfirst towards the mat in a fireball of a suplex.

Re: Proof of Fang: Yuki Kazikura vs Shimmerlace Snuggleblossom

Unread post by CaptainL »

Yuki was determined to keep her opponent firmly under control, one way or another. Shimmerlace was making a valiant effort to fight back, resisting every attempt Yuki made to hold her down - but as the situation around her stayed in constant motion, Yuki was just going to change up her own strategy to match. As Shimmerlace tried to rise to her feet despite the pressure of her bodyscissor, Yuki would lean in closer and throw her arm around her throat, transitioning into a guillotine choke! Her brow furrowed with a razor-sharp focus; she knew almost instinctively that to take her eyes off of Shimmer now would be to invite disaster. And her teeth clenched tightly, every muscle in her body stiffening. She'd promised to give this match her all. And she wasn't about to let down that promise - whatever she needed to adapt to, she would!

When Shimmerlace pulled her closer, for a moment Yuki could feel her center of balance compromised. Their bodies ground in against one another, their hips and shoulders rubbing through the thin layer of their attire just closely enough for them to feel the warmth radiating off each other's skin. Yuki's eye twitched in a wince, and she sucked in a breath. For a moment, it felt as though Shimmerlace just might succeed at pulling her off balance. Throwing her off her game. Disrupting what was supposed to be a showcase of her true potential!

It certainly seemed like that, as Shimmer hoist Yuki up higher - at last, with another sharp tug, the raven-haired girl's legs popped free from her foe's sides, dangling in the air. Yuki could feel herself being pulled higher and higher; soon, she could feel herself suspended in the air. The balance between the two tipped backward, bringing Yuki just inches closer to the mats below - but that was enough to warn her of what was to come. And when she realized she was moments away from taking the fall, she let out a gasp.

But just as quickly, Yuki shook that thought out of her head! She had done well enough thus far when it came to adjusting to the tempo of the action, and matching each attempted counter that Shimmerlace threw at her with one of her own. She could do that now, too! It looked as though Yuki was about to land with a thunderous impact, one that was sure to shake the ring. But at the crest of the throw, she kicked her legs into the air, arching up with her back to throw her trajectory into an arc. If she aimed it right, by the time her legs came back down, they would land flat on the mat, stopping her descent in the middle of the suplex! And if that worked, Yuki would be quick to follow up with her next move. Hoping Shimmerlace would still be stunned by the sight of such a counter, Yuki would throw her arm around her opponent's throat, then kick off the mat to bring herself down - this time, delivering a slingblade!
