Most never even get a chance to interact with Chénhuā. Those who do typically fall into one of three categories: business contacts, family, or those servile to her. Only when she deems it necessary will she grant a meeting with someone outside of these groups. And out of those who meet her, most only see a small part of her. Shrewd and calm, with an almost aristocratic air to her—that is how she presents to most. But underneath the surface lies an unbridled ruthlessness. In their high-rise meeting rooms, executives speak in hushed voices of her cunning and covertly forceful tactics. They say that she has no qualms about eliminating any who dare stand against her.
Yet, even those executives do not know what Chénhuā is truly capable of. Only those who walk in the dark—those who involve themselves in organized crime—know that. It is well-known what happens to such people: they suffer agony, the sort that many men would rather kill themselves than face. Whether it be public humiliation, disgrace, an utter dismantling of one's fortunes, execution, or straight-up torture, those who oppose her are left broken beyond repair.

While Chénhuā does not fight much nowadays, she is very capable when it comes to fighting. She can hold her own wherever the fight goes, whether it ends up on the feet, in the clinch, or on the ground.

History

The Sun Jīnlóng (新金龍)² triad was founded decades ago in Hong Kong by Jǐ Chàng (己暢)². Through Jǐ Chàng's ruthlessness—and some assistance from the shadowy Xiāo (萧)² family—the Sun Jīnlóng triad quickly grew to be the largest triad in existence, surpassing even the likes of the Sun Yee On and 14K triads in membership. Naturally, Jǐ Chàng ended up as the Dragon Head (leader) of the Sun Jīnlóng triad, and for many years, the triad flourished. At its height, Sun Jīnlóng had its hands in places throughout Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
Unfortunately for Sun Jīnlóng, Jǐ Chàng grew increasingly decadent and licentious as time went on. He lived a lavish lifestyle, one that could only barely be considered fiscally sensible—had Jǐ Chàng been any less wealthy, he would have been outright irresponsible with money. Moreover, despite being married, Jǐ Chàng had affairs with many women. Most notably, Jǐ Chàng had an affair with a former heiress of the Xiāo family, Xiāo Huān (萧欢)².
Despite sleeping around a lot, Jǐ Chàng only had one child out of wedlock: a child with Xiāo Huān named Xiāo Huā (萧花)². Jǐ Chàng also had some children within wedlock, the oldest of whom was Jǐ Chénhuā (己晨花)¹,². Chénhuā was groomed from an early age to one day take over Sun Jīnlóng—and take over she did.
A mixture of mild mismanagement and very unfortunate circumstances caused the Sun Jīnlóng triad to implode upon itself. The old Sun Jīnlóng triad—which already had a loose, decentralized structure to begin with—splintered off into a number of warring factions. At its worst, there was open fighting in the streets of Hong Kong, with civilians and law enforcement caught in the crossfire. The violence ultimately ended up claiming the life of Jǐ Chàng, leading to his daughter Jǐ Chénhuā assuming leadership of any remaining Sun Jīnlóng triad members she could find. From the ashes of the Sun Jīnlóng, Jǐ Chénhuā forged a new triad: the Xuèlóng (血龍)² triad, which translates to "Bloody Dragon", the name being symbolic of how the Sun Jīnlóng triad was torn asunder.
Thriving amidst the violence, the Xuèlóng triad used brutality and ruthless tactics to become the most notorious and powerful faction among those formed from the old Sun Jīnlóng triad. In order to grow its influence, the Xuèlóng triad began to forcibly recruit members and intimidate those who refused. This resulted in many of Sun Jīnlóng's former members going into hiding, afraid for their lives.
The Xuèlóng triad, although led by Jǐ Chénhuā, also had two additional women in its ranks who were pivotal to its success. The first of these women was Jǐ Chénhuā's younger half-sister Xiāo Huā (萧花)², who went by Jǐ Huā (己花) during her time with the Xuèlóng triad. Xiāo Huā's role in the group was varied, with her activities ranging from intelligence gathering, analyst, interrogator, bomb-maker, assassin, and general combatant. The second of these women was Jǐ Chénhuā's younger (full-)sister Jǐ Ruǎn (己阮)², a violent, somewhat unrefined, thug-like woman who loved violence. Her abject brutality and penchant for violence was useful in fights and when torturing captured enemies for information. Even though her hot-headedness was an occasional liability, she more than made up for it elsewhere.
Over the course of around one year, the Xuèlóng triad grew to become the largest triad in Hong Kong once again, controlling more territory than even the Sun Jīnlóng triad had. Despite having a lot of power at her fingertips, Jǐ Chénhuā's position was tenuous, her leadership nascent and unsolidified. Many sought to usurp Jǐ Chénhuā command. Times were tense, with loyalties uncertain and in flux.
Xiāo Huā was instrumental in establishing stability within the Xuèlóng. She had an uncanny ability for finding traitors, and many would-be traitors were found and executed because of her—some of those executions were even carried out by Xiāo Huā herself in secret. Xiāo Huā accomplished this by keeping her ears open and getting close to the right people. She would often pretend to be a traitor herself to gain the trust of the disloyal, only to later use this trust to orchestrate their downfall. Moreover, being a member of both the Jǐ and Xiāo families, Xiāo Huā was pivotal in establishing a connection between the two families.
Jǐ Ruǎn also played her part. The fear associated with the now-defunct Sun Jīnlóng triad did not all carry over to the Xuèlóng triad, forcing the Xuèlóng to work to reestablish that fear. Through her ruthlessness, Jǐ Ruǎn terrorized anyone who got in the Xuèlóng's way and helped to establish the Xuèlóng as a force to be feared. Jǐ Ruǎn had no qualms about killing anyone inside or outside the Xuèlóng, regardless of status or position. It was said that if you survived an encounter with Jǐ Ruǎn (or Xiāo Huā for that matter), your survival was nothing short of a miracle. Ruǎn's actions helped solidify the Xuèlóng triad's power base, ensuring that all others knew they were dealing with a force to be reckoned with.
Through the efforts of Jǐ Chénhuā, Xiāo Huā, Jǐ Ruǎn, it took only two years for the Xuèlóng triad to surpass its predecessor, the Sun Jīnlóng triad, in prominence and stability. Jǐ Chénhuā, who was still in her late twenties, became the unopposed leader of the Xuèlóng, while Xiāo Huā and Jǐ Ruǎn acted as her right- and left-hand women, respectively. With the support of Xiāo Huā and Jǐ Ruǎn, Jǐ Chénhuā soon gained the reputation of being the most fearsome, ruthless, and dangerous person in Hong Kong. But Jǐ Chénhuā branched out from organized crime as well, opting to establish herself as a legitimate businesswoman in addition to a triad boss.
Jǐ Chénhuā rise in the business world was meteoric, taking place in a brief time span. By working closely with the Xiāo family, Jǐ Chénhuā gained a sizable foothold in the business world much quicker than the vast majority of her peers. But she was not some helpless greenhorn—despite her inexperience, Jǐ Chénhuā showed a high level of business acumen. She had, and still has, a brilliant eye for spotting opportunities, and she uses her resources and ruthlessness to make sure she capitalizes on her opportunities when they present themselves.
Nowadays, as the leader of the Xuèlóng triad, Jǐ Chénhuā has a minor hand in the triad's day-to-day operations, but also controls a number of other enterprises under the name Suen Chénhuā (孫晨花). Some of these enterprises include an exclusive high-end hotel (The White Dragon Hotel), a casino (Dragon City Casino), and a chain of restaurants (Dragon Cuisine). Beyond her own businesses, she has also invested in a number of others, such as pharmaceutical companies and financial firms. Although her attention is divided between various business activities and the triad, the structure of the Xuèlóng triad is such that she does not need to manage it closely. The Xuèlóng is decentralized, but nonetheless has a very strong command structure. This allows Jǐ Chénhuā to maintain a high level of control without necessitating that she manage the triad closely.
Similarly to her older half-sister Jǐ Chénhuā, Xiāo Huā also pursued interests unrelated to the Xuèlóng—with times peaceful, triad operations were much less engaging for Xiāo Huā. Thus, Xiāo Huā looked elsewhere for her entertainment. That place was LAW, where she competes as a wrestler under the name Húxiān Lì (利狐仙).
Knowing that her sister was competing in LAW, Jǐ Chénhuā learned more about LAW. Seeing LAW as a decent investment, knowing that she had a sister in the company who could influence it, and seeing LAW as a chance to diversify her assets, Jǐ Chénhuā invested in LAW. She now monitors happenings with LAW. Jǐ Chénhuā might even choose to interfere with LAW should it make financial sense.

Relationships

  • Xiāo Huā (Húxiān Lì) - For a while, Chénhuā and Huā grew up together in the same household. This did not last forever, however, as Huā later moved to be with her mother's side of the family. Later on, while Chénhuā was building up the Xuèlóng triad, the two women worked together extensively. They share a sisterly sort of bond and get along as friends.
  • Jǐ Ruǎn - Chénhuā and Jǐ Ruǎn grew up together. The two share a sisterly sort of bond and get along as friends.

Quick Facts
  • Because she maintains her distance, it is difficult to ascertain any personal information about Chénhuā.
  • She seems to have a liking for fine wine, although she never partakes to the point of getting drunk.
Secret
  • Although Chénhuā publicly pretends to enjoy fine wine, she does not actually care much for it. Instead, she very much prefers beer—specifically Austrian craft beer.
  • Her gun of choice is the FN Five-seveN made by FN Herstal.

¹ (SECRET) Suen Chénhuā (孫晨花) is her alias. Suen (孫) is her fabricated family name and Chénhuā (晨花) is her fabricated given name (which is the same as her real given name). Her fabricated surname Suen (孫) can be written in Simplified Chinese as 孙. Additionally, Jǐ Chénhuā (己晨花) is her real name, with Jǐ (己) being her family name and Chénhuā (晨花) being her given name.
² (OOC) Explanations and meanings the various named used in this profile are detailed
Chénhuā's Name
I romanized Chénhuā's fabricated family name 孫 as Suen instead of Sūn because I thought Suen looked cooler. This source claims that Suen is the Cantonese romanization of 孫, which fits because Chénhuā is a triad boss based in Hong Kong, which means that she speaks Cantonese. I chose Suen as her fabricated family name as I figured that "Ms. Suen" would sound nice (other options did not sound as nice when appended to "Ms.").
Chénhuā's given name consists of a combination of two characters. The first character is 晨 (chén), which means dawn or daybreak. 晨 (chén) was chosen because dawn is associated with beginnings, which relates to how she rebuilt her father's triad after it had fallen apart. The second character is 花 (huā), which means flower. 花 (huā) was chosen because when its appended to 晨 (chén), the resulting name sounds similar to "Shenhua", a character from the manga/anime Black Lagoon. Finally, the meaning behind Chénhuā's family name is Jǐ (己) is explained later in this footnote under the section titled "Jǐ (己) Family Name".

Jǐ Chàng's Name
Jǐ (己) means "oneself" and Chàng (暢) means "free" or "unimpeded". Jǐ (己) and Chàng (暢) are the family name/surname and given name respectively. Written together, the name is Jǐ Chàng (己暢). I chose the given name Chàng because its meaning relates to how Jǐ Chàng lived lavishly and promiscuously.

Jǐ (己) Family Name
Jǐ (己) means "oneself". I chose that name because emphasis on self can sound selfish, and a name with a negative connotation sounded decent for a triad boss's family name (triads are organized crime organizations). I do realize though that the concept of "oneself" does not in-and-of-itself/does not necessarily emphasize self selfishly.

Xiāo (萧) Family Name
The name Xiāo (萧) was decided on before I started making this profile. The name comes from Xiāo Méi (萧梅), the real family name of my character Méi Lǐ (李梅). I forgot exactly why I chose the name Xiāo, but I suspect I chose it because it sounded nice.

Sun Jīnlóng (新金龍) Triad Name
Sun Jīnlóng (新金龍) translates to "New Golden Dragon". Golden dragons symbolize wealth. Using Chinese romanization, Sun Jīnlóng (新金龍) would be romanized as Xīn Jīnlóng. Additionally, the Cantonese pronunciation of 新金龍 would be more akin to "San Gam Lung". I chose to romanize 新金龍 as Sun Jīnlóng because it looked cooler and because "Sun" reminds be of the "Sun" in "Sun Yee On", a famous Chinese triad.

Xuèlóng (血龍) Triad Name
As stated in the backstory, Xuèlóng (血龍) translates to "Bloody Dragon". This name is symbolic of how the Sun Jīnlóng triad fell apart, i.e. was "bloodied" in a sense.

Jǐ Ruǎn's Name
The family name Jǐ (己) in Jǐ Ruǎn (己阮) was decided on because Ruǎn is the (full-)sister of Jǐ Chénhuā (己晨花), so naturally they would share the same given name. Since Ruǎn's faceclaim will be Revy from the manga/anime Black Lagoon, I wanted her Ruǎn's real name to be a Chinese feminine name that starts with an "R" and does not have an unfitting meaning. "Ruǎn" was the best-sounding name I could find that satisfied those requirements, so I chose that as Jǐ Ruǎn's given name.

Xiāo Huā's Name
The name Xiāo Huā (萧花) was decided on before I started making this profile. Huā (花) was chosen because it sounds similar to Húxiān (狐仙), the alias/fabricated given name that Xiāo Huā uses in LAW, and because it means "flower", which relates to Húxiān's title/tagline of "The Demon Flower". Xiāo (萧) was chosen because I ended up retconning Húxiān to be related to Xiāo Méi (萧梅)—LAW alias Méi Lǐ (李梅) or M.E.I.—so I gave Húxiān the family name Xiāo (萧).
Xiāo Huā's alias Húxiān Lì (利狐仙) was chosen very early on—in fact, Húxiān Lì was the third LAW character I ever made. I had wanted to make an evil character of Chinese descent, and I wanted her to have a memorable name like OmegaVan0/TheManVan's Da Xia. I encountered quite a bit of trouble with coming up with a name, but I eventually settled on the given name Húxiān (狐仙). The name Húxiān came from the character Húxiān from Ace Combat 7—I realized a while later that "Húxiān" was just a callsign and that Húxiān probably is not a valid Chinese given name (invalid/not valid insofar as I postulate that "Húxiān" would be an extremely atypical given name for a Chinese person).
As for the family name of Xiāo Huā's alias, Lì (利), I forget why I chose that initially—most likely, I just thought it sounded nice in "Húxiān Lì". When deciding on an actual character for this family name, however, I looked up which characters correspond to "Li" and what their meanings were. Then, I made my choice based on meaning. According to this source, Lì (利) means "sharp, favorable, advantage, benefit, profit, interest, to do good to, to benefit". The denotations of profit and sharpness probably appealed to me, which is probably why I chose Lì (利).
It should be noted that Méi and Huā/Húxiān use different versions of "Li" in their aliases (this was intentional as I did not want them having the same family name alias when they do not publicly acknowledge each other and keep their blood relationship a secret). Méi uses 李 (Lǐ) and Huā/Húxiān uses 利 (Lì). Also note that the diacritics on their romanized family name aliases differ, i.e. 李 and 利 have slightly different romanizations (Lǐ and Lì respectively). Moreover, in Méi's case, the character for her family name alias, 李 (Lǐ), means "plum"—this is markedly different from the meaning of Huā/Húxiān's family name alias (which is explained in the previous paragraph). Incidentally, Méi's given name 梅 (Méi) also means plum, although I forget whether it was intentional or not (my guess is that I had not sought out to do that but accepted it when it happened).

Xiāo Huān's Name
The name Xiāo Huān (萧欢) was decided on before I started making this profile. Huān (欢) was decided on because it sounds similar to Huā (花), the given name of Xiāo Huā (萧花).
