The Lightweight Classic Match 2: Samantha Roberts vs Chika Igarashi

Chika got up...only to be put straight back down with a hard dropkick! Sam would take her time for her next move, trying to climb the ropes, and taking time to taunt Chika's manager, before leaping off...

...right as Chika found her way back to her feet, and rushed to the ropes! By the time Sam would land on her back, Chika would already jump at the rope with her feet, springboarding to try and nail her rival with a Springboard Moonsault!

Sam had taken a moment to taunt Thirteen at ringside yet again! And just like last time, this moment cost her!

"Ouch!" Roberts would groan as her descent from the top rope met nothing but air! In the time she had taken to leap from the top turnbuckle, Chika had readied herself!

Igarashi showed off impressive speed by not only evading the Dropkick, but also running to the ropes to set up for an aerial maneuver of her own! A Springboard Moonsault, or a Lionsault as the commentators at ringside described while calling the match!

The crowd reacted with cheers and roars of approval as Chika countered and landed right on target, flattening poor Samantha after she already had a rough landing!

"Gah!" Sam would let out a breathless gasp as she ate the brunt of the Moonsault! Samantha would remain downed and dazed for now, seemingly caught entirely off-guard by the move!

With Chika managing to catch her rival with a flip of her own, the Raven Knight quickly followed up by hooking her rival's leg and pressing her body into the top of the blunette, trying to firmly pin her shoulders to the canvas!

"ONE!"

Sam was stunned as Chika hooked her leg and secured her in a pin! The audience was still reacting to The Raven Knight's impressive reversal even as the referee counted!

The official's hand slapped the mat the first time! The one-count came! And soon after that...

"TWO....!!!"

The match was nearly over! Sam hadn't moved at all! But as the official's hand came down the third time, suddenly Roberts sprang to life! Her shoulder rapidly rose off the canvas as she torqued her petite frame to kick out!


"2.9!!! The match continues!" The referee lady proclaimed before calling for the match to continue!

Fans cheered as Sam managed to stay alive in the matchup! She panted heavily as she tried to will herself back into this and rise up to her knees!

The kick out angered Chika. The ref even had to rub it in for her by proclaiming the count as 2.9. In frustration, Chika slapped the canvas with both her hands, before rising back up, deciding to dash for the ropes for a rebound once more…

…before jumping quite far from where she was on the way back, trying to hit her likely rising rival’s head with a hard Running Knee Strike!

Sam was no slouch! Her tenacity and resiliency say her hang on here where many other wrestlers might have succumbed! Even Chika, with her wealth of fighting experience and matches, smacked the canvas in frustration.

"Ungh..." Roberts would groan as she tried to find her way up to her feet. The crowd was behind her but she was in rough shape.

The bluenette slowly pushed herself up to one knee. And when she did, Igarashi was making her return trip!

"ACK!"

The older lightweight nailed her in the side of the head with a Running Knee for her troubles! Sam once again went down in a heap! It was clear that the momentum of this match was still firmly in Igarashi's favor!

Chika nailed Sam with a hard shot to her head, and wanted to continue racking up hard shots on the woman’s poor skull, as she picked up her head to place it between her legs…

…before jumping up and over her with her rival’s head in tow, trying to flip both women in midair to drill her rival’s head into the ground with a beautiful Canadian Destroyer!

Chika had thrown Sam for a loop! The bluenette was dazed and her head was hurting! She soon found herself pulled up from the mats, and secured in a bent over position with her blue-haired head between Chika's thighs!

Fans and commentators expected a Piledriver of some sort. But Igarashi wowed those in attendance as she flipped over her rival lightweight! The older gal maintained her positioning with Sam's head between her thighs as she hit a dynamic and high-impact Canadian Destroyer in front of the live crowd and cameras! Sam would wordlessly collapse onto her front the moment her head hit the canvas!

Is this the beginning of the end for Samantha Roberts in this tourney?!

Quickly, Chika would try to follow up, trying to pin her rival for the 3 while she was dazed! Her Canadian Destroyer rarely ended matches...but she could never know when the move would be enough to end the match!

Chika was quick to capitalize on her big, crowd-pleasing Canadian Destroyer! Though it rarely ended matches, it did catch Roberts by surprise and it did come at the end of a string of impressive attacks!

Samantha laid there lifelessly beneath Igarashi as she was covered! The referee checked the shoulders just as quickly as Chika pinned her! There was little left to do but count! And the crowd joined in on it!

"ONE....!"

"TWO.....!"

"THREE??!" Samantha brought her shoulder up just a hair after the official's hand met the mat! It was valiant, but an instant replay on the big monitor in the arena confirmed for everyone that Samantha's kick out, though spirited, was a bit too late! Samantha continued laying there beneath Chika. She looked and felt crushed spiritually and physically over her loss in this opening round!
