A heavyweight spar: Oscar Orelash and Patty O'Connor

Today was another training day for Oscar. In most cases, he'd want to take advantage of April's private facility and train there but it was different today. For starters, he found that ubers were too expensive to take over there. Second, he couldn't find a bike his size to afford. Lastly, Tina and Katrina were busy with their own thing. At least, he was pretty sure they were. He didn't want to be a bother and bug them for rides every time he wanted to train. Because of all this, Oscar found himself in a locally owned LAW gym located near the young lion and lioness dorms and had finished going at it on a rowing machine, just sitting there and reading over a notebook and adding notes while humming to himself and getting lost in his train of thought.

Oscar would soon notice he was not alone getting some late afternoon training in. Sitting on the next station over at the weights was one of the biggest talents Oscar had ever likely come across, himself excluded of course. "48...49...50!" Finishing her current set, the fellow redhead would rest the barbells she was carrying on the rack behind her, and if Oscar would take notice of the weights added, she had just done 5 sets with three 100 pound weights, meaning 50 reps of 300 pounds! That was quite the accomplishment, as most everyone else in the gym was only maxing out at around half of that. This was some powerhouse! In fact, it was one of LAW's resident giants, Patty O'Connor. She had been part of LAW for several years now, but had been reserved mostly for exhibition matches and other non-televised events. This was not due in any part to her skills, but rather she had a reputation of being somewhat difficult to work with and was not a fan of the business side of the industry. However, she was trying to change this notion of hers and become more involved on the open circuit. Image

Oscar would look up from his note-taking and blink at possibly the biggest woman he'd ever seen since joining LAW. He watches as she finishes up some reps, noting the total weight with an impressed sounding low-whistle. He'd squint as he felt like he'd seen the woman somewhere else, and it hit him- Patty O'Connor. He saw the Irish heavyweight on TV a few times when he was trying to figure out what style of wrestling he wanted to get into. She was one of the big reasons for taking the path of the powerhouse. The young lion was quite excited at first and got to his feet, wondering if it'd be rude to bother her before his pen slipped from his fingers and bounced off his foot, rolling quite the distance all the way to Patty. Taking this as a sign, Oscar would just walk on over as the pen settled a few feet from Patty.

"Hey, sorry. My pen just got away from me there..."

He knelt over to grab his pen off the ground before looking up at Patty.

"You're Patty O'Connor, right? The heavyweight? If it's not too much trouble, can I get an autograph? I'm a bit of a fan"

Oscar did his best to give a friendly smile as he held onto his notebook and pen.

Patty was wiping her brow of a tinge of sweat she had broken, pleased with her weight lifted, beating her old personal best by a whole set. She heard a faint tapping and noticed someone crawling around before grabbing a pen and apologizing to her. She was about to brush him off, but then he stood up, just matching her own size, even having an inch on her in height. It was then that she was recognized, which was impressive given her limited television time in LAW. "Well I ain't Patty the cruiserweight, if that's what ye are saying." She let out a loud guffaw at her own sense of humor before being asked for an autograph, another new experience for her. "Well I ain't exactly the altruistic type, lad. What exactly are ye willing ta give me in return for that there autograph?" Patty wasn't exactly looking for cash, but she was curious to see what Oscar was willing to offer in return for a gift from one of his personal inspirations.

"What to give you?"

Oscar seemed a bit surprised. He never heard of someone wanting something in return for an autograph before- wait, yes he has. Comic conventions do that all the time with celebrities. He hummed to himself and scratched his chin before raising a curious eyebrow at Patty.

"Well... how do you feel about a spar? I've been having trouble finding other people in my weight class to train with. I do this and I get an autograph. Do we have a deal?"

He'd offer his hand out to Patty to see if she wants to seal the deal with a handshake.

This offer seemed to ring well with Patty, she had been hoping for some in-ring action today, and now she had gotten an offer, plus on top of that it was someone very similar in size to herself. "You got a deal; but there's one catch. You have to impress me if you want that autograph of yours, you got it? I ain't going around handing these out to anyone you know?"

Patty extended her own hand to grasp Oscar's, using her immense strength to squeeze the boy's hand with her full power, as to show the redheaded youngster what exactly he was getting himself into. "Meet me in the ring in ten minutes. If you're not scared that is!" She again let out a bellowing laugh as she turned and walked off to get herself prepared.

Oscar would squeeze back on the handshake with his own strength as Patty shook it, wincing slightly from the pain but giving a determined nod.

"It's a deal then. See you there"

When Patty walked off, so did Oscar. He went to grab his wrestling gear from his bag and would go straight to the changing room...

When the ten minutes would pass, Oscar was finished doing warmup stretches in some standard-looking ring gear. He looked ready to go as he waited in a corner of the gym's wrestling ring for Patty to show up.

Patty came back, feeling refreshed after a quick wash. She approached the ring, noting Oscar's built physique, thinking this might be a fun time after all. She climbed up on the apron and stepped over the ropes, leaning on them as she got into her mindset for action. "So, how many matches have ye had so far, lad? Ain't you one of those youngsters the league hires for enhancement? Though if I'm being blunt, yer not the typical look. Most of them are wee lasses that can barely handle a few slams. How'd you land in that group if you look better than most?" Despite her reputation as a roughhouser, Patty was actually looking like she was quite a conversationalist.

"Well, I landed here because I haven't been wrestling for very long. Spent about two years studying and learning with some side shows here and there. I've had about... five matches so far within three weeks of joining the young lions"

Oscar rolled his arms as he worked out some last-minute stretches.

"In short- I'm still learning and want to learn more. Don't even have any signatures and only recently developed a finisher. That's why I'm in the young lions"

"Well let's put it to the test how those five matches of yours has given you the experience to go toe to toe with one of LAW's biggest and baddest bruisers, then, lad! Don't hold it against me if you find yourself outmatched!" Giving her neck a couple cracks to finish her own preparations, Patty stepped forward and since there was no timekeeper, she mimicked the ringing of a bell herself. "Ding ding!" With that, their spar had begun and the Irishwoman motioned for the Young Lion to come at her and show her what he had, looking for an opening move from him.
