Galactic Battle: Piper Sherwood vs Aurora Estrella

Piper had spent months working to build herself up from her jobber status, torturous training, hours watching tapes, whatever it took for her to get stronger so that she wouldn't be remembered as just some weakling jobber. Her loser championship against Holly had been the last straw and served as the moment in which she finally broke from her shell as a proper wrestler, someone to be respected and she had been on top of the world when it happened. More than that she wanted it to continue.

So she forced herself into this fight, the biggest, baddest lightweight in the locker room that wasn't Rose Gold who she could get her hands on. All so that Piper could once again show off her skills and cement herself as a serious contender for any championship. For a time it was working as well. For a surprising amount of time Piper had been in control, dominating and controlling the Galaxy Cat through both legal and illegal tactics, even having her primed for a finish from the blonde.

But things had slipped through the blonde's fingers. Now, what was to be the moment she cemented her budding reputation now proved to be one of the biggest blows to date! "Damn it... No!" Piper hissed in pain, blonde hair strewn about her as she kicked her legs against the mat, trying to push herself up with her free hand, but the pain in her spine was making it hard for her to focus, let alone, almost as if she was temporarily paralyzed from the pain coursing through her.

Despite that however she was still able to hear the words of Aurora over the crowd. Words that made Piper take a brief break from trying to force herself up to look over her shoulders at the Galaxy Cat currently climbing the corner. "Go to hell." She hissed out, with such authority and gravitas, it nearly made anything else she had ever said sound like a lie, all in a low, seething tone that Piper honestly wasn't even sure if it would reach the ears of her opponent over the roar of the crowd.

Either way it didn't change what happened next. No matter how hard Piper tried the pain in her back wasn't ceasing and she had no opportunity to get up let alone move for that matter. So she was totally helpless when Aurora's body came soaring down on top of her for her double moonsault finisher that sent a whole new wave of pain through Piper's body, even causing her to bounce off the mat and turn over from the impact, prime for Aurora's body to drop on top of her, making it all the easier for the woman to grab Piper's leg and hook it for a pin... A pip Piper knew she could do nothing about but grit her teeth.

Somehow, despite all the noise and hype, Aurora and Piper remained on the same wavelength! They could hear each other and they struggled to communicate despite the wear and tear on both their bodies and despite all the noise from the audience!

"After you...." Aurora would sputter as she kept Piper's leg hooked! The Galaxy Cat would lean even more of her person onto Sherwood's bust and upper body to add further leverage and security to the pin!

"THREEEEEEEEEE!!!!!" The referee would declare! The woman would raise three fingers high in the air to signal that the fall was earned and the contest had concluded!

"I insist." Aurora would finish her earlier sentence just before the bell rang! She'd roll off of Piper's person. The referee would help Aurora up and raise her hand.

As the tag team champion's theme music played and as the crowd cheered to celebrate her victory, Aurora's free hand rested on the side of her masked head. She panted heavily and visibly. Her big hair was disheveled and drooping. One look at her would tell anyone that this match had taken a toll on her. It would take her time to leave the ring....if Piper allowed her to leave the ring.....

Inside Estrella there was much internal conflict. You could see it in her concerned and hurting expression. In her stumbling and unsteadiness on her feet. Aurora wouldn't admit it here and now, but the duality of the situation was killing on her the inside.

Piper Sherwood was everything that The Galaxy Cat would normally want to protect and encourage in pro wrestling. The blonde lightweight was a promising talent. Her performance tonight could have easily seen her graduate from LAW's Young Lioness Program, win or lose! She had come into her own. She would come away from this match an even better wrestler than she was going into it! All things that any upstanding established wrestler would love to see from a rising star! And yet, Sherwood had done it by embracing the darker traits of the world of professional wrestling.

There were indeed very few pillars in LAW's blossoming lightweight division. Until the day that The Galaxy Cat actually gets her chance to square off with Rose Gold, there was no way she was going to escape being compared to the lightweight champion by fans and wrestlers alike. And yet, while Aurora couldn't be any more different from the champion, Piper had come away from this contest looking much more like Gold, Widow, Dana, Starring, and every other despicable notable heel wrestler in the international wrestling company!

Piper had always been cocky. But never before had she embraced a dark side and a mean streak quite like what we had seen tonight. If Aurora couldn't defend herself, her career and livelihood in wrestling would have been crushed beneath Sherwood's heel for the sake of becoming her coveted "stepping stone".

"Was it always going to be this way?" Aurora wondered to herself audibly and spoke out loud.

"If she had fought someone else, could they have saved you, Piper? Made you see the error of the ways you've embraced....?"

"They say iron sharpens iron. And the very idea that I could be even partly to blame for you being like this.... "

"I....I can't..." Aurora would stagger as she would practically fall onto the ropes as she tried to exit the ring.

That was it. The match was over and Piper had lost. Even when she pulled out every trick and dirty tactic she could think of and get away with Aurora had managed to dance around or power through them, eventually resulting in Piper's defeat at the Galaxy Cat's hands.

'Dammit...' Piper thought to herself with a cringe of absolute frustration on her face as she pounded the mat in anger while Aurora got off the blonde. She had tried so hard, trained for so long, done so much... yet she had lost again.

Was it because of her opponent? Was Aurora just that much of a better wrestler? Or was there something wrong with her? Her cheap tactics only seemed to anger and fire the girl up after all... but.. no. Those same tactics had saved her ass before, no... Aurora was the problem, along with the damn crowd firing her up.

Gritting her teeth in frustration Piper would sit up onto her knees and glare at Aurora with emerald eyes full of spite. "Mark my words..." The blonde said with a glower towards her opponent. "This isn't over..." Piper said in between pants, her lungs absolutely burning from the match and her body sore as could be, especially after she had taken that double moonsault finisher from Aurora, but right now Piper's hate was fueling her actions right now and making her ignore, at least briefly all the physical agony she was in.

"Whatever you say be damned... I'll find a way to fight you again." Piper said with a glower, knowing Aurora had said Piper would never have a rematch with the Galaxy Cat, but the blonde didn't care, she couldn't, she would find a way, and she would avenge this loss. "When I do... I'm going to break you Galaxy Cat." Piper promised, her words full of conviction and determination as she stared down the masked wrestler who had yet to leave, her body clearly too weak to have made it on the first try.

Quite frankly Piper was in a similar boat, just getting up onto her knees was a exhausting chore in of itself, but now that she had it was at least easy to hold herself up. If she had the energy however she would have attacked Aurora but for now... Piper would settle with this. Her promist to Aurora that this wasn't over, that they would fight again, and that the next time they did... Piper would win.
