Kayla Grant vs. Vi

It had been a while since Kayla had taken to the ring, but if there was one thing she was excited for, it was making a comeback. The Californian was always eager to prove herself against all comers and to demonstrate her in-ring skills, and tonight, she was ready to shine. She hadn't had the most spectacular record in LAW so far, but as long as she stayed on top of her training, she was sure she'd be able to succeed. And she had definitely been training in anticipation of this moment, when it came the time to enter the ring once again.

"The following match will be scheduled for one fall! Coming first to the ring, from Los Angeles, California! At 5'5 and weighing 133 pounds...KAYLA GRANT!"

With the ring announcer reading off her name, Kayla took her stance on the entrance ramp, throwing her fist up in the air to welcome a burst of cheers from the crowds. She made her way down to the ring with a smile on her face, then slipped in under the ropes, where she stepped over to her corner. She took the time to do a few quick stretches before leaning back against the corner post with her arms draped over the ropes, awaiting the arrival of her opponent.

Vi came out on to the stage did a little stance to hype up the crowd for her. She then walked down the ramp giving high fives to fans along the way. Vi then slide underneath the bottom rope. Vi would circle the ring and once she came to Kayla corner she would give Kayla a dirty look then went to her corner and waited for the bell doing some stretch

Kayla was unfamiliar with her opponent, and she didn't know what she could expect when Vi took to the ring. But that didn't slow her down one bit. No matter what the situation or who she was up against, Kayla gave it her all every time she set foot between the ropes, and this would be no exception. The one thing that caught her attention was the dirty look Vi gave her as she entered the ring, which caused Kayla to raise an eyebrow to her in confusion. Either Vi was familiar with her from her previous work, or she wasn't a welcoming person in general. Whatever it was, Kayla was sure she'd find out soon.

*DING DING DING*

Soon enough, the bell rang, and Kayla was quick to get into a stance, raising her fists and walking toward the center of the ring. "Alright, let's see what you're made of," she said, reaching out to grab Vi in a collar and elbow lockup if she got close.

Vi heard the bell ring and got out of her corner and walked to her opponent then was put into a elbow lock by Kayla and didn't like it and attempted to do a reverse atomic drop on her opponent. If successful she would then try to follow up with a German suplex.

Kayla was going into this match against an opponent she wasn't familiar with, and she figured it paid to take caution in feeling out what she could expect from Vi before going in with a more targeted strategy. She was willing to go slow, opening up with a lockup to get a feel for her foe's strength. But that wasn't going to work in Kayla's favor when Vi preferred to go all in right off the bat! With a gasp, the brunette found herself being hauled up as her opponent yanked up on her arms, hoisting her off her feet.

With no time to adjust, the next thing she knew, she was dropped right onto Vi's outstretched knee! A wave of pain shot through Kayla's lower body, and as she let out a scream she doubled over forward, clutching at her groin. But once again, Vi had no mercy - she was quick to pull Kayla up over her shoulders, swinging her into the ground, where she landed head-and-shoulders-first with a resounding thud!

The canvas rumbled under Kayla's impact, and a good few fans winced at the force of her landing. She came to rest on her back, slumping to the mat as her chest rose and fell with haggard pants.

Vi would roll through and look like she was about to deliver another one but would back up into a corner then put Kayla in a headlock and go for the running bulldog. Vi was feeling risky and decided to go to the top rope even though she wasn't to familiar with it. Vi would try and preform a elbow drop. But if Kayla moved Vi would crash and burn.

The atomic drop Kayla had taken was enough to leave her shaken. When Vi followed it up by suplexing her headfirst into the mat, it only kicked her while she was down. She let out a cough as her head bounced up off the mat - and went right back into Vi's clutches, as the pink-haired girl backed into a corner before charging forward to slam her opponent down once again with a thud!

As Vi released her, Kayla sunk into the canvas, gagging and sputtering as she lay splayed out on her face. For a few seconds Kayla lay there, her chest rising and falling as she tried to catch her breath. Eventually, she found enough strength in her to work her way back up, placing her elbow on the mat to brace herself as she lifted herself up and raised her head. She shook some sweaty strands of hair out of her eyes after letting out a few pants - but there she saw Vi on the top rope, prepared to come down with an elbow drop!

In that moment, Kayla shuddered in anticipation of the impact. Her body went stiff. But she reminded herself that, in going to the ropes, Vi had unknowingly bought her opponent some time. A smirk came to Kayla's face as she began to connect the dots in her head. It was a classic beginner's mistake - Vi wanted to go for the big, showy finish, hoping to hit hard and wow the fans in the process. But she could tell from her uneasy step and the way she teetered back and forth to hold her balance that Vi was no high-flyer, and she was hesitating in lining up her shot. That gave Kayla just enough time to ready her counter - as Vi came down, she would roll to her back, kicking up with her knees to drive them into her foe's spine! "Too slow!"

Vi would be in the air as she tries to go for a highy fly move she would come down onto her opponent and was countered hard with her knees going into her spine vi would roll off them and hold her spine. She would gasped pain as she would kick the mat in pain.

Kayla was never the type to use a lot of high-flying moves. Too much risk for a lack of a guaranteed reward, she thought - while they were undeniably flashy, and they could hit hard when the force of gravity was with the user, that same force could just as easily be turned against them if their shot wasn't lined up just right. And for that matter, if the move's intended target knew how to get out of the way, they could make that user wipe out all the more spectacularly. Kayla had well proven that point - when she got her feet below her and her knees in the air, it turned her body into a spike that Vi was about to come down on hard, sending a shockwave through her body!

As the girl tumbled over to the side, reeling from the impact, so too did Kayla prop her elbow on the mat and look up with a smirk. What she did prefer was ground-based grappling - it might not have been quite as spectacular, but it did the job, and if everything was locked in just right it would all but be impossible for her opponents to escape her grasp. In fact, Vi had lined herself up perfectly for one of those moves, and when Kayla saw the opportunity, she was ready to reach out and take it!

A smirk came to her face as she rolled over to her hands and knees, then lunged forward to tackle Vi from behind. If she could close the distance, she would attempt to throw her legs around Vi's arm to trap it while her hands clamped down around her head, pulling it backward to put some pressure on her spine with a crippler crossface!

"Nice try...but it looks like I've got this one covered!"
