The Competition - Katsumi and Tina Armstrong

Katsumi didn't immediately lunge in at Tina following the impact, but when the blonde looks in her direction, she's met with a wry smirk. 'Why yes,' says the smirk, 'you did underestimate me.' But Katsumi gives it no voice. No voice is needed here, is it?

She circles with the the other girl, her stance widening again, her own mind working out possible angles. Trying to take her on a straight test of strength wouldn't work. But redirecting her force likely would. It really comes down to whether or not Tina is arrogant enough to shoot for another straight grapple.

It looks like she is.

Katsumi pretends to oblige, rushing to meet her. Her own plans are put on hold as a knee blasts into her toned stomach, the impact popping the girl off the mat by an inch. She lands doubled over, arms wrapped around her midsection. "Uhugh..," she groans, momentarily stunned and open to her foe.

Tina saw Katsumi go up and come back down, her knee striking working. Tina did not want to wast any time or give her a window to retaliate. She stepped up and wrapped an arm around Katsumi's head and tightened her hold on the woman. Immediately after Tina fell back, angling to drive Katsumi's skull into the mat with a DDT!

Nothing flashy, nothing spectacular. Just a quick move that had the potential to leave Katsumi on the mat with a sudden headache. Tina knew she had to build up, work towards the fancy stuff. If she went right in for anything else Katsumi may have been able to counter it. This? Well, it was certainly possible it could be countered but Tina hoped she worked fast enough to prevent such a thing from happening!

Katsumi remains bent forward, eyes screwed shut from the impact to her stomach, but the ache isn’t rapidly fading. She may not have the chiseled sixpack of Tina, but she’s at least weathered enough to recuperate. Unfortunately, however, that opening her blonde for has created was just enough for things to get worse.

She finds her head yanked under Tina’s arm, her cheek pressed into her sweaty ribs. Her arms loop Tina’s waist, possibly already preparing to counter, but it wouldn’t Ben of any use. Tina drops back, landing the top of Katsumi’s skull squarely against the mat. Her body flips over once in mute pain, the girl’s dark green eyes wide and unfocused... before she drops flat to her back. Her limbs land splayed, her body completely open to Tina for a window of opportunity.

Tina has Katsumi down and isn't sure what sort of grappling or submission skills she has. It is time to find out. Tina moves over to Katsumi's side and grabs onto an arm, pulling it as far away from Katsumi's body as she can. Tina's legs wrap around the arm and lay across Katsumi's chest as she tries to apply an arm bar on the woman!

Tina yanks hard, but not as hard as she absolutely can. She wants to spar not injure someone. "Ngh... how's this one feel little lady?" Tina asked as she found herself trying to keep up the momentum against a foe who is largely an unknown quantity. She does want to find out Katsumi's capability... but preferably not the hard way!

Tina’s setup is met with a groan or protest from the punk diva, but her mind is still scrambled from the hit she took moments ago. Her arm is stretched, tucked between Tina’s legs, and those muscular legs drop over Katsumi’s chest. The pulling gets an immediate, pained cry, the girl writhing!

It’s funny how duress can either completely take away the ability to focus, or sharpen it. The butterflies in Katsumi’s stomach - assuming they weren’t mashed by her knee earlier - have been more like a tangled steel turbine. But this hold triggers her training, her muscles springing to familiar action.

Katsumi twists towards Tina, her toned legs pushing hard against the mat to try to fold her up and alleviate the pain in her arm. Should she get her blonde foe into position, she’ll immediately begin the count. “One...!”

Tina pulled and hoped Katsumi would feel some pain. Perhaps she did but she clearly knew what she was doing on the ground.

"Clever one ain't ya?"

Tina let go and tried to tuck her legs underneath Katusmi more to shove her away and create space than inflict any sort of pain from a kick.

Tina tried to scramble up to her feet and regain her bearings as Katsumi had countered her hold and effectively forced a reset. This spar was going to be an interesting one...

Katsumi pushes onto the toes of her shoes, plying as much of her bodyweight against Tina's legs as she can to keep her pinned down. "T-," is all she manages to get for her second count. Tina's smart enough to know to abandon the submission when it's turned into a pin, she sees. There's little she can do to stop the other girl from kick-shoving her away, letting the pin break.

Katsumi has no intention of letting up on Tina, though. She gets to her feet, but the Punk Princess is on her in a flash. Her hands grab for the girl's shoulders, and she attempts to return the favor of before by slamming a knee into Tina's six-packed abs. "Like I know what I'm doing, right?," she chides.

"Oomph!"

Tina had no response as Kat had quickly covered the distance between them, beating Tina up to her feet. It seemed that Tina was the slower one in this match, and she wasn't used to really being outmaneuvered in the middleweight division. She just looked up at Katsumi and raised an eyebrow while she was doubled over. Tina didn't slump to a knee, but in her position she was clearly exposed and vulnerable. She was stunned physically but had to be on top of her mental game, trying to prepare for whatever else Katsumi threw her way!

Katsumi is wasting no time, clearly treating Tina seriously. With the girl hunched forward before her, she immediately, forcefully yanks her head under her left arm, pressing her cheek against her ribs. Tina's left arm is slung behind her neck to control her balance. Her free hand grabs onto the waist of her short shorts. The thought crosses her mind to try to nail her opponent with something big to take a commanding lead and possibly seal the deal, but until Tina's a little more worn down, that would just be too risky. She wants this win. This could be the start of her momentum in the ring with this federation, and be a sorely-needed shot of confidence to quell her wild imagination. So instead of her first thought, she opts for something snappy and bone-rattling, suddenly pulling on her prey and attempting to whip her body into the air and instantly down against the mat square on her back in a snap suplex!

Tina was still hurting as Katsumi yanked her up to her feet. Tina felt where Katsumi was grabbing, knowing what was coming... but she was too late to prevent it from happening! Tina went up and came back down hard to the mat, groaning in pain as she arched her back, kicking the canvass in pain a couple times after her landing. Tina tried to roll over onto her stomach, moving up to her hands and knees. Katsumi had a lot of good footwork and grappling ability, knowing how to get in position and pull off moves rather quickly.
