Gil Appreciation Night (Open Thread)

Music plays over the speakers as Sydney, wearing her wrestling outfit, walks out on stage. Holding a big bouquet of pink roses in her hand as she makes her way down to the ring, her face looks like if she was crying for a while backstage but putting on a brave face as she slides into the ring and wiping her eyes with her other hand. Reaching out and taking the mic that had been given to her, she waits a few minutes to collect herself before speaking with a small smile on her face.

'So I know you all heard the news, right?... That Gil is going to be stepping away from wrestling and focus on her new career, I just...' Sydney covers her mouth to stop herself from crying. Knowing that her little smother buddy will be leaving soon, and the thought is starting to break her down.. ' I just wanted to say that coming here to LAW... I didn't really show a good side of me when I was teaming up with my ex-partner my first day here. But it was Gil that really helped me find a footing in the company. To be honest, if it wasn't for her, I would have retired or just been an afterthought. But she introduces me to such wonderful people that I am glad to call my friends in and out of the ring,' she says with a smile on her face. Taking a deep breath, and places the bouquet of roses in the center of the ring before covering her mouth with her hand again, the tears starting to fall from her eyes again.

' Here... I know it not really goodbye forever... But it does feel like that so happy trails to my smother buddy...' She croaks out leaving the roses in the ring, as she makes her way up the ramp to the backstage area. She has said her piece and as much as she doesn't want it to happen, she knows that the memories she has of her friend will always be there for her.

The crowd is choked up hearing Sydney say what she felt. But the night is not over as Battle Blaze blares over the speakers. The crowd wants to boo at the three women who make their way out on stage. Thereisa is seen carrying what looks like a cloth covered plaque in her hands, while both Serilda and Ana are carrying more bouquets of pink roses as all three make their way down to the ring.

As all three enter the ring... Ana is the first to place her bouquet of roses right next to Sydney own before taking the mic to speak. ' You know, I never would have guessed that our little rivalry would be over so soon,' she says, thinking about finding the right words to say. Small little sniffles sounds are coming from herself as well, starting to get choked up. ' We had a blast during our match and I would gladly do it again if we could, but it just not in the cards you know...' Letting out a small chuckle before speaking some more. ' Thank you for helping me be a better smother wrestler Gil... Give them hell when you go play hockey alright... Thank you for being a great wrestler and an amazing presence backstage.' Handing the mic over to her step-sister Serilda who has a small frown on her face.

'Alright I don't have much to say...' Serilda would start to say before getting an elbow to the side from Ana, who gives her a look. ' Okay... Okay, fine... I am really going to miss you, Gil. Our battles we had over just stupid reasons. You really brought the best out of me and forced me to get better as a wrestler. It is sad to r see you go and start something new... But I really do feel that no matter what you have planned or do next in your little crazy life.' She would get choked up and stop. Not being able to finish the rest without letting the tears flow before getting the courage to say what she was going to say. ' I will miss you my rival...Thank you for the wars we can look back on and laugh at when we meet again out of the ring Gil.' Wiping a tear from her eye...Serilda would place her bouquet right next to the others. Holding the mic out for her mother to grab it and use as She would hug Ana, who hasn't stopped crying since she did her speech.

A proud woman in her own right...Thereisa refuses to let the tears fall from her eyes. ' Gil...I just wanted you to know that being able to meet you and get to know you was some of the most fun I have ever had in a wrestling company.' she says chuckling a bit at remembering their first meeting they ever had. 'I remember how scared you were coming into the gym when I told you to meet me and train with me. I never would have taught that you of all people would give me a chance you know, with my history and such but you did and you proved yourself many times to me... and to all of these fans watching every night.' Pointing to the crowd who roar and cheer in agreement at her words.' I wanted to get something for you when you said you was going to do the gauntlet match you know... something that you would have loved to defend if given the chance but I feel like it is time to give you this.' the once proud prideful woman finally cracks as the tears start to fall from her eyes. Taking the cloth off and unveiling a small plaque with the design of the Smother Belt that Theriesa was going to design for her.

Placing the title belt plaque on top of the roses. Thereisa bows her head in respect, doing something she rarely or never does at all... showing her respect to the Goat who came into LAW and took the company by storm for a year. Taking a few minutes to collect herself, she looks on before saying, ' I told you the first time we trained you was going to be special and I'm glad to say that I got to see you wrestle in person and win Gil... You always be a part of Cyber Legacy... and the best friends to my girls and a someone close to me in my life. Do what you need to do and we're always here whenever you want to come back, alright. Dropping the mic to the mat after saying what she needed to say.

Both Ana and Serilda walk over with Ana holding the Gil goat plush in her hands before placing it beside the plaque, as all three women leave the ring emotional at knowing that their friend... rival... and just a wonderful person is leaving their tight-knit circle. All three head backstage, leaving their gifts behind, showing that Gil's presence wouldn't be forgotten since she was the GOAT.

As the first three woman who started this show of appreciation left the ring , an new group would appear as it seemed an bunch of the new recruits and stars who had yet to debut had come down to show their respect for Gil. As they all seemed to wear just black shirts and shorts as those in the known would be able to recognize Chantel Rock , Saki Miku , Wendy Timber , Erica Edison and Abia Khalli who were young lions walk down holding flowers as they left them near the plaque that was the smother belt as it would have bin an touching moment.

Only for one person to just get inside the ring , and worse she had an live mic and carrying an selfie stick of all things as she said ''tonight we say our goodbyes to an wonderful wrestler ,but you don't have to feel sad everyone as in the end you will find better wrestlers to support. Like yours truly of course as one day soon I will make that belt an reality , and you all forget about this gildy or whatever her name is. As you all be too busy to cheer for me , and support me the one and onlurghhj'' when she got punched in the face by the blond Valkyrie that was Astrid Anderson as the microphone was kicked away as the blond was giving the pinkette an piece of her mind as she was never more embarrest in her life as she hoped someone would beat some humility into her as soon as possible as the veteran in the ring would grab the mic.

As Linda Halloween would take an deep breath as she said ''please forget everything that pinky just said as tonight ain't about any of us . No tonight is about Gil , and her amazing career as we say goodbye to an amazing wrestler. Still I am certain that one day she be back , and better then ever as this ain't really goodbye as I am certain we will see you around in some way as you got plenty to give to the industry'' as she made the rest leave the ring and walk up the ramp as she helped Astrid in making sure pinky was not going to ruin things further by making tonight all about herself.

A hush came over the massive crowd as someone wholly unexpected came down to show his respects to the Goat. Especially since this was the same one who infamously wrote an article which implied Gil belonged in Hell. Still, even with his signature mask on, anyone could tell he was quite emotional:

He entered the ring and stared down at the gifts already in the ring. He was handed a mic and, for a few somber moments, he just stared at the table with gifts. He than began to speak, "Whenever there is a meeting, a parting is sure to follow. However, that parting need not last forever. Whether a parting is forever or merely a short time...That is up to you..." He paused to let his words sink in, "If you know me, and I know many of you do, you might assume that quote is from the Bible somewhere. Well, it's not, it's actually from a video game many of you remember fondly: Majora's Mask. Although I never got the chance to meet or face Gil, I had a helluva time watching her perform. And LAW has a huge hole to fill with you gone. I don't have much, but, what I do have comes from the heart..." A picture of Gil came on the screen, and Isaiah looked at it for a few seconds, before tipping his hat to it. After a while, he nodded to the crowd, and unceremoniously left the ring for another to enter and pay their respects...

If there was anyone to make their presence known at Gil Appreciation Night...few fans would have expected Danielle Degardin to be one of them. Although the French ex-model played an important role in Gil's career as the first woman she faced in LAW, she had treated her with nothing but contempt, mocking her from the moment she entered the ring and voicing her doubts as to how she could ever succeed in the world of wrestling. Although Gil went on to win the match, Dani was outspoken backstage, when asked, that it had been a fluke, and that her success was nothing more than a streak of dumb luck. Even when rumors arose of the two of them being sighted Christmas shopping together, Danielle denied the allegations whenever she could, and insisted that she'd been dragged along against her will when she couldn't.

Yet, it was Danielle who was next to descend from the entrance ramp, her back held straight, her head held high, and her outfit fashionable and well-pressed as always. Despite her careful attention to her appearance, eagle-eyed viewers could note that there was something different about Danielle. Her normally displeased scowl seemed more somber than usual; the typical fire had left her eyes, and even her makeup was smudged, as though she'd had to hastily apply it - perhaps even after she'd been crying. Of course, there was no way Dani would shed a tear over someone she disdained as much as Gil, surely.

Standing in the ring, Danielle cleared her throat, reaching for a microphone. She tapped it a few times, stalling for a few more seconds, before, with a sigh, she held it to her mouth and began to speak. "Ladies and gentlemen...tonight, we are gathered to celebrate the career of the self-proclaimed Great Armagilo, the Smother Princess, or to those who knew her, simply Gil. As you may recall, I was her first opponent..." She groaned, not particularly pleased about drudging up those memories. "...so to those of you who've been following her from the start, the first time you saw her was against me. N-Now, bear in mind, that match was an absolute disaster that should not under any circumstances be mistaken for any evidence she is halfway decent at wrestling..!"

Dani's voice began to crack and waver as her speech built to the last sentence. Even as she denied any respect for Gil, the chuckles that came from the crowd were enough proof that few were convinced of her sincerity - and even when the redhead jabbed a finger in the direction of one such laugh with a cry of "Knock it off!", she still sounded hesitant. Taking a step back, Danielle straightened her vest and took in a deep breath. She was going to try very, very hard to get through this without embarrassing herself any further than she already had.

With a sigh, she continued. "...Whether you love her or you hate her, no one can deny that Gil made an impact on LAW in the short time she was here, and that her absence will be felt. When future generations speak of the names who changed the face of this promotion, for good or for ill, she's going to be one of them. And she'll always be remembered for her contributions, no matter where she goes next..."

The fans began to cheer, and Dani blinked a few times, looking out at them. Cheers! For her! When she had as much of a reputation as she did for fighting dirty and openly sharing her disdain for LAW's fandom, to actually recieve genuine praise for what she said in the ring gave her a moment of shock. Her eyes widened, and she stood in silence for a few short seconds. She felt a warm sensation in her chest, one she didn't realize how long she'd gone without. She hadn't really felt this way since...she went shopping with Gil, really.

But a moment later, Dani cleared her throat again. She couldn't stay here any longer, lest anyone connect the dots. "I...I have to go," she said, turning back to the entrance to leave the ring. But those who watched her close enough might catch the briefest glimpse of a tear in the corner of her eye as she did.

The next one entering the arena was no one other then Harmonia Edelstein.

Gil had been her friend since their
first match at the begin of the career of Harmonia Edelstein, when she still was "The Model" and no one had trust in her or took her seriously.
Gil did take her seriously, she never had anything bad to say about Harmonia and was eager to fight her in there match, as silly a gimmick match as it was...

Harmonia wore a new outfit, a suit that was held in the colours of her homecountry and the colours of the Superstar, a gimmick she had debuted a few months ago.
Her energetic theme played, a song LAW Fans could'nt hear without immediatly thinking of Harmonia but the Austrian did'nt make a great show tonight as she did with every of her entrances.
This here was'nt about her, this was about her friend, Gil.

The blonde woman entered the ring, not by jumping over the topropes but by carefully stepping in between the ropes before waving her hand in the air to stop her music.
She was'nt in the mood for being happy or work the crowd and also, again, this was'nt her stage.
Harmonia was here to compliment, and compliment she would.

"When I arrived here...", she began and held her microphone to her lips.
"No one believed in me. I was a ditzy, blonde Bimbo, a Model who was only good for some mud and Bikini Matches, a midcarder, not really recognizable. Some people even claimed I bought myself into the company.
At this time, were I had to fight to be recognized, there were only a handful of people who believed in me and one, a very...very special young woman was Gil.", she said and paused for a moment.

"LAW you can't even grasp what a wonderful, beautiful and absolutely stunning person you will lose this year. GIl never looked down at me, our match was as serious to her as if she would have thought a legend. And we did everything to make it worthwhile, did'nt we?", she grinned and pumped a fist in the air, the crowd rememberd of course and cheered.

"Sadly, we had'nt had the chance for a proper rematch since then, out of various reasons, until, with a little help of my manager, dankeschön Viktor, we managed to get a very special christmas themed match of the ground which was...what can I say? One of the craziest but also most heartwarming experiences I have ever had!", she smiled, her sunglasses hiding her teary eyes as she went on.

"A match with Gil, even if you fight her, even if you are against her...never feels like like a fight but rather a wonderful time with a...very...very...good friend, sorry...", she said and turned her head away,raising her glasses and whiping her eyes with a handkerchief.
"Phew...not so easy as I thought...", Harmonia said and looked at the Belt that Gil was presented with before she smiled and touched it, a grin appearing on her face while tears started to trickle down under her glasses,as she got something out of her pocket.
It was a small pink bow, part of her first inring costume. She looked at it and placed it on the belt.

"So you remember me Gil...and our much too short time again...", she said and bowed her head, remained in a minute of silence.
Then she turned around and looked up to the Titantron were a big picture of Gil was presented.
"Wherever you are, wherever you go. I wish you all the best. Never lose your smile, never stop being such a fantastic person that you are. I love you Gil.", she said and then left the ring, making space for the next guest to honor her friend...
