A New Star! - Blaise and Asuka Wakahisa

Blaise had a wide smile affixed to his face at first. But Asuka's scrutinizing look begins to whittle it away, eroding it down until it reaches tentative Mona Lisa. His eyebrows raise, the apprehension palpable around him. The longer she stares at him, the more his physical presence shrink. Did he just do a bad? What did he do! Social landmines! Aaaiieee!

"Um. Uh. Um. Yer welcome," he says in a smaller voice, index fingers prodding together.

Abruptly, in an effort to execute some daring course correction, he blurts, "What do you do for a livin'?"

She let him simmer for a good twenty or so second before easing back on him, relaxing into her normal posture. She clasped her hands in her lap with a soft snicker.

She visibly perked, almost immediately, as the question of her career. She was more than happy to talk about wrestling. She practically breathed the stuff! "Joshi puroresu... er... Professional wrestling." She raised a hand, gesturing in a small circle. "I just recently signed with a large local promotion actually. I haven't technically started yet. " She hadn't felt the need to mention LAW by name. The place was extremely had to miss, and from what she heard they had several other locations. Surely a franchise of that magnitude was well known. Clearly not something as obscure as that Twilight thing..

She nodded firmly, suddenly she was more animated, and noticeably more chipper. While she had been pleasant before, she slowly crossed the threshold into bubbly territory. That had been a quick way for Blaise to get his past misdeeds forgotten.

Ah! There she is! All bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, forgetting the compliment foux-pas he'd committed before! And an energetic, bubbly Asuka is a nice Asuka. She might even be a little infectious, if this weren't generally Blaise's default state.

"Y'don't say?" A grin spreads over his face again, unabashed. He doesn't mention his own career. A part of him is curious to see if she'll realize it based on what he's wearing. The other part of him is wanting to keep it on the down-low, to play that card when it'll be most entertaining! "So what do you go by? Or is it Asuka? What kind'a moves do ya got!?," he furthers.

"I so say! I'm officially billed as Strider..." She holds up two fingers, pantomiming a five pointed star shape. "...Star." She held up her arm, tapping the distinct star imprint on her sweat band with a big dumb grin on her face. "Though my name is tossed in there too, or will be when I get started. Maybe if I take off I can just start going by the stage name." She bit her lip as she glanced skyward envisioning how cool that would be, able to walk around in her gear all the time, and just assume her new persona all the time... not that it was any different than who she was normally, save for the name.

"I have pretty much... all of the moves." She boasted proudly, hands on her hips as she puffed up a bit. While it was an exaggerated claim, she was well versed in an impressive amount of professional wrestling mainstays as well as some with her unique twist on them. She at least seemed to be believable, though depending on Blaise's past experiences with other LAW ladies, it was up in the air if he thought her capable or not.

"Wooooow..."

Yeah, no, Blaise is an 'at face value' kind of guy. He looks genuinely impressed with her claim, eyes wide, round, and erring on the sparkly side.

"That's so impressive!," he swoons. "I bet you're awesome to watch! You should let me know when you debut! I wanna try to get tickets!" He sits upright and scooches to the edge of his bench, hands gripped at either side and shoulders hunched forward. "What kind of finishers do you use? Got your eyes on the title?"

Asuka was use to fawning over her own image of what she wanted to be in her head, having someone else do it though caught her off guard. She leaned back slightly, blinking as a faint ting of color rose in her cheeks. "It is? It is haha! Yeah! I'll uh... yeah, sure I'll totally let you know. No problem!" She wasn't sure how to really react. Sure, back home she had her fans, but she never really talked to them one on one. They were just cheering faces or people who gave her passing compliments. She wondered if this is what it would be like if she made it big.

"Well... I have a really flashy moonsault. That's when you..." She glanced around, spotting the distant ring in the gym. Pointing out towards it she explained, she wasn't sure how familiar he was with wrestling in general. "It's when you do flips off the top rope, in my case I do two." She holds up her fingers in a small peace sign, giving them a playful curl as if doing air quotes. "Then land on a person to try and pin them. People love that one a bunch, or did, back home. Uh... the other is harder to explain." She just leaves it at that, expecting it to end with that.

Expectations, prepare to be dashed a second time. But first...

"A two-flip dealie?," asks Blaise, still fawning, but pretending to have no idea what she's talking about. "And you land on people!? Doesn't that hurt?" His eyes round out a little further, brow knit inwards to affect a concerned look. This, coming from a guy who's been toying with a frog splash for a finisher.

He looks to the ring, then back to her. "You should show me! It's just us in here, no one'll fuss! You can show me whatever it is you do for the other one!"

The gears are turning, attempting to come up with a slick way of letting her know they have the same job. So far that opportunity hasn't appeared.

"Yup... two." She smiles sheepishly, buying into his naive act, hook line and sinker. She was trusting by nature and didn't really think he'd be playing dumb with her. As far as she knew he was just some casual fan. "Well... yeah. It wouldn't be a very good finisher if I didn't land on them." She nodded slowly. "Sometimes, but if I do it right, the person I'm landing on and the way I land absorbs most of the impact. I've gotten use to it through my fair share of missing.... missing is what hurts." Or lading on someone who spiked up their knees on her... she shuddered at the thought, leaving it unsaid. For the most part she had good luck with Meteor Impact.

She blinks at Blaise, looking between him and the ring. If that was an offer to be a training dummy, it went right over her head. "I... well I need someone to do it on. I can't just... do it." After a small pause it clicked to ask, though still not believing it. "Did you... er... want me to do it on you?" The request had to be a mistake, it was so absurd. This night had suddenly gotten a bit weird. She shifted on her bench, trying to wrap her mind around it all. "I wouldn't want to hurt you... Professional Wrestling is no joke. If you don't understand how to land your body, you can do some serious damage." She cautioned, knowing full well from his laissez-faire attitude towards lifting without a spotter that he might try to shrug her off.

"What?"

Blaise blinks at her. "You thought-.. what?"

He barks a laugh and leans back on the bench, propping himself with his hands behind himself. "No way! Whaddaya take me for?" He shakes his head quickly, bangs scattering. "I meant the other finisher! You said it's hard to explain, so maybe you can just show me! Unless it's another flop?"

Yes, he said flop. On purpose! To mislead her! He's still maintaining the facade that he's unfamiliar with the sport. He's just a guy who happens to be wearing professional wrestling trunks and boots!

"Or- what is it called? A splash?"

She blinks at his reaction, getting lost for a moment. It seemed the two of them were on separate pages of the same book. "I... I was talking about the other one, it's a slam... thing." She thought the use of technical terms would be long on him, but struggled to find suitable words to explain it. It pained her, visibly to reduce her Star Destroyer finisher to a simple "slam".

Did... he just call her aerial moonsaults... her incredibly hard to perform aerial flip... a flop!? Her brow furrowed as her cheeks puffed up as she held in whatever negative thing she might throw his way, letting it dissipate into nothing.

A splash... she could live with. She let him slide on this one as she found inner peace, settling back down. "Any wrestling move is going to hurt if you aren't use to them." She decided that would be the best way to get them on the same plane of existence for the conversation. "It's a dangerous sport, regardless of what some people might tell you. Very serious stuff."
