A Post Match Check Up (For Taskmaster)

LAW Infirmary Area

”Ugh... my head...” Thea moaned out as she walked unsteadily backstage after a match where she took a particularly nasty blow to the head that had her completely out of it the rest of the match. Subsequently this had led to her defeat, but she was in far too much pain to care and honestly she was just hoping she didn’t have a concussion. So rocked by the scary spot The blonde hadn’t even bothered changing from her ring gear, her standard silver outfit and black boots glinting under the lights. The look only complimented, or rather brought down by bruises and welts forming alomg the fairy’s body.

Hobbling into the infirmary she nearly stumbled into the room looking for a nurse or trainer or something. ”Uh...” She said not exactly sure what she was supposed to do, and just generally speaking somewhat loudly to hopefully get someone’s attention. “Uh could someone help me please? I think i hit my head really bad..” She said aloud with a slight wince as she leaned against the wall for support.

Haruka was just sending a patient out and making sure her room was in order. It seemed they were already expecting someone else and she wanted to make sure she was actually prepared. Grabbing her stuff she exited the room to go meet the latest gal. “Apologies for the wait. Please come in.” Haruka would absentmindedly direct the women inside it was only when she started to head her way that she recognized her as Thea, the girl who she had her last match with and hadn’t been wrestling since due to being too busy with work. Her eyes noticeably dimmed but she tried to play it off and not recognize her. Thea was easy to anger and Haruka had to maintain a sense of professionalism.

Thea groaned softly holding her head, wondering how much longer it would take to be seen. Thankfully the moment the thought flitted through ber head she was called back makkng her sigh in relief as she stood up and slowly walked towards the door. As she approached however... she couldn’t help but notice who her caretaker was... ”Its... quite alright..” She said awkwardly while trying to look anywhere that wasn’t Haruka, after all she was still rather sore towards the woman, but she was smart enough to know not to piss off the person that was treating you’re injuries

Haruka lead Thea inside and I drifted her to take a seat. Judging by the state of how she walked in she clearly needed a proper check up. Though Haruka could tell she remembered her, she opted not to say anything that made that clear until it was necessary. “So you said you hit your head? You appeared unsteady earlier. Any other problems, blurry vision, trouble moving parts of your body? Do you remember what happened?” Haruka was broadly covering anything that might indicate a worse problem, Thea seemed fine for now but the problem with head trauma is that it was deceptive and might not even show until later.

Thea gulped softly as she followed Haruka inside and took a seat where she was directed too by the nurse, nodding along as she did so. Of all the medical staff Haruka was the last person she hoped to meet, but hopefully if she could just stay focused she could get through this and get treatment for her head. ”Ummmm... I was in a match.” Thea said a little unsure, obviously groggy from her injury. “I got thrown into a corner head first and from there everything is kinda a blur.” Thea admtted while holding her head, trying to think. “Uhhh... on the way here... everything was kinda blurry and wobbly.” Thea said wincing from the pain still present within her face.

“Hmmm, hard to say. Could be a concussion but you were at least able to get here on your power. However the worst effects might not be apparent until the next day or two.” Haruka brought a light to Thea’s eyes trying to see if they focused in on her or not. “Blurry or not you do seem to at least be all there, just a little scattered. Which is a good sign for now. You said on the way here, is it still blurry now or do you feel more focused now that your sitting down, sometimes the body struggles to do everything when it’s rough shape but can focus better when your stable in which case some rest will do wonders for you.” Her tone indicated no sign of malice so far but her face was mostly blank still, giving Thea little to work with on Haruka’s mood the only thing clear was that she recognized the Fairy.

The blonde girl shifted unconfortably under the gaze of the medical professional, the impassive, neutral expression on he face being the leading cause. It would be one thing if she was actively aggrevated or upset to see her, she at least had a idea of what to do about that. Or if she had forgiven her and was genuinely concerned for her condition, as unlikely as that was, itd be something! But the sheer difficulty of reading Haruka’s expression was what was driving Thea crazy!

Thankfully she at least had the woman’s medical advice to consider to take her mind off things. “Uhhhh I guess? I mean... ugh sorry.. its hard to think.” She said wincing as a sudden spike of pain rocked through her as her eyes flinched from the light shined in them, dialating for a moment as they focused on it before she couldn’t take it. “Do you maybe have some like... pain meds or something? Maybe an ice pack or something?” She asked as she gingerly held her head while looking away, trying not to meet Haruka’s eyes.

“Pain meds can be dangerous If I don’t know what’s ailing you. We don’t want to make your situation worse. Ice I can provide.” Haruka soon placed a pack around the area that looked like the source and would see if that helped at all. “You must have angered someone, funny given the temper on you.” She hasn’t meant for that to be to vocalized but it was out nonetheless. She quickly tried to change course. “Anyway give that a few minutes and we will see if things improve. I’m sure with time we can properly understand your injuries. In fact I’m sure you got off lucky.”

Thea squirmed a bit more awkwardly under Haruka’s gaze while trying not to disturb her aching cranium too much. She had only wanted treatment, she never expected or wanted it to be from Haruka. But she had to play nice, after all for better or worse Haruka was treating her injury and right now thats all that she cared about. But the combination of no pain meds and Haruka’s comment about angering her opponet didn’t exactly help her mood. ”Yeah… I guess you could say that.” Thea relictantly admitted while looking away and clenching her fist. Admittedly more so mad about her past opponet than Haruka herself. As she was given the ice pack though Thea at least sighed in relief as she gingerly lowered herself down and laid on her back with a sigh.

”I’m sure I did.” She said in response to Haruka’s statement about her getting lucky, not realizing until after the sarcasm she had dripping from her words. Wincing a bit in realization she shakily sighed. “S-Sorry. I didn’t mean to be rude there.” She said, reluctantly apologizing, not realizing till now how worked up she was getting from this situation, but she didn’t want to put that on Haruka who was just doing her job.

Haruka was observing any signs of long term damage but like she said stuff like this took time. Thea was a tough cookie from Haruka’s short experience with her but had a bit of a brutish stubbornness that hadn’t gone away. It didn’t matter, in the long run she was sure Thea would be fine and despite her pain Thea seemed more concerned about Haruka then her head, acting scared the nurse might decide to take advantage of there situation and get some revenge. Luckily for her revenge was not on Haruka’s mind, still she had to admit it was interesting seeing her in such a nervous state and it got her mind all curious how she’d react. “Sorry? Are you sorry about that truly? Or are you only saying that because you fear I’ll do something if you don’t apologize?” Haruka’s tone was lower then usual but not hostile she suspected it wouldn’t matter to Thea. The blonde was concerned about anything Haruka did so this would just be another thing on her mind. And Haruka couldn’t let such a moment go where she could test Thea’s behavior in this kind of situation.
