Nikki Lane vs. Mizuki Sakura: Debut Against a Jobber

Nikki was taken aback by Mizuki's comment to say the least. She knew Mizuki didn't think very highly of herself, but she didn't realize just how bad of a spot she was in mentally until now. So Nikki decided to try and lift Mizuki up, both figuratively and literally as started gently bringing Mizuki up to her feet. "Neither of us have anything to be ashamed of, Mizuki. Being willing to take my all when you were under no obligation was impressive in itself, that took guts Mizuki."

Nikki had meant every word she had said. Now she could only hope that Mizuki understood.

As the pain began to abate, Mizuki picked herself up onto her knees, but she still wasn't ready to face Nikki eye to eye. Feelings were welling up inside her, her stomach churning as her head spun with thoughts of how she was probably ashamed that she had tapped so easily. Nikki had offered Mizuki that chance to stand up against her finisher because she believed in her, and she had let her down. Mizuki didn't know what to expect from the blonde; if she'd be mad, or upset, or disappointed, but she knew it couldn't be good. It never was, with her luck. It just figured that she was this close to finally having someone here she could call a friend, and feel safe around, and not even that had worked...

Just thinking about it, she shut her eyes tighter. They welled up with tears and her fingers tightened around her knees from where her arms rested in her lap, as she tried her best not to burst out into sobs. But then, the moment Mizuki had been afraid of had come, as Nikki finally addressed her. And to her surprise, it wasn't with scorn or derision. Nikki, it seemed...was proud of her. She thought...she had guts.

Mizuki wasn't used to being praised, especially not when it came to LAW. At first, she didn't know what she was hearing. But it was true. She was hearing it. She knew she was. Slowly, she turned toward Nikki, looking up at her through misty eyes. "You...you really think..?" Mizuki took Nikki's hand, using it to guide herself back up. She wobbled a little on her footing, but as it all set in, a smile came to her face all the same. She nodded her head in Nikki's direction, wiping her eyes with her other hand. "...t-thank you..."

"Heh, I should be thanking you for letting me put on such a good show." Nikki said in relief as she saw Mizuki smile. The ref soon came over to declare Nikki the winner and prepare for the night's next match, so the conversion had to come to a close, so Nikki quickly spoke one last instruction to Mizuki, "Meet me backstage so we can talk some more."

Nikki then turned to the ref and offered them her hand, which was promptly raised in victory. Nikki's first of hopefully many.
